We found the fish we needed and the tanks didn't look too bad. The checkout took forever though and I won't be going there on a time crunch.

My first trip there I was delighted when the girl helping me in the fish department told me that my water was, "Perfect." I was excited and bought a lot of stuff, several of which were live animals and live plants. Some of the things were a different price in store than they were online and the associate that helped me told me that they do price matching. I was happy because there is often a difference the store being significantly higher priced, which doesn't make any sense to me especially considering it is more work to shop at a brick and mortar. It turned out that the water was far from, "Perfect." It wasn't ready for fish and that cost me some money. But the young woman seemed like she was being sincere and I'm sure that it's probably her first job, and that she was doing her best. I didn't complain, I spent more money on chemicals, straightened out the problem and moved along. Since then I have purchased; Biostratum, Stratum, EcoComplete, water treatments, fish, plants, more fish, more plants and several pieces of wood. Earlier this week I bought plants and fish from the Venice store and there was a sneaky episode over there-but that's going in a different review. Today, I finally found the blue shrimp I have been waiting for. I got some early on, but I go two different shade of blue that produced a black. So, today I found the right shade and was excited to purchase four. I found the lady who looked exhausted and miserable from the jump, and asked her if she would help me with taking home four. I get that everyone isn't excited about fish (and shrimp) when there are kittens and puppies to be had, but I can't have those right now so I was excited about shrimp. She was not. She looked at me
like she was totally annoyed at me when I pointed out WHICH shrimp I wanted. I wanted both sexes which are different sizes, so yes I was specific about which. I get that life is often hard and it must be a horrible job helping people with pets in an air conditioned store that seems to be pretty low volume, but what I was asking for wasn't illogical, so humor me without an attitude please. The price of the shrimp online was $5.49 and the price in the store was $8.99. I said something about price matching as she bagged them up and that was it. She looked me square in the face and said, "We don't price match on anything live." But I've already purchased the same thing before and they did it, literally happily. There was never an issue before and I had purchased the exact same thing which was easily evidenced in my transaction history. I said those things and she changed it to, "Well these say Rainbow shrimp and the shrimp you're showing me say Blue Shrimp." But these are the same shrimp. They are specified differently online because there are multiple colors of this kind of shrimp and that is the only way you could pick WHICH color of Rainbow Shrimp you are getting. She said loudly, "I am NOT PRICE MATCHING!" She was seething, dripping with animosity. I said okay and left. I called the number for Petco and told them what happened because I was mad about her yelling at me and mad that they would not honor the price advertised BY THEIR OWN WEBSITE. I was told that was NOT their policy. I was also told that the woman with which I spoke was the STORE MANAGER!?!?!It was terrible customer service, and I can't believe it came from store leadership. I would have given those little shrimp a great home. Instead, I will vote with my dollars for someone else. Save yourself the headache, heartache, frustration, time, gas, money and go to the Petsmart one mile away where the associates are pleasant .Or even traverse the six more miles to FINATICS Aquatics where the associates are marine biologists, and the prices and selection are all around superior. I didn’t have time to groom my girl myself as I’ve been preparing to travel for a trip and a photoshoot for my dogs’ 10th birthday. I figured it was worth trusting a “professional” with her grooming... wow was I wrong. I really question these past reviews because the Andrew that butchered my dogs face did not do the work of a paid “professional” groomer! I would’ve very much appreciated Andrew being honest about what was and wasn’t within his realm of talents. My dog was not matted and had ONE knot on her LEG. I’m glad he got a good laugh though.. Andrew asked for references photos… So I’ll leave these here. The 1st photo is the inspiration he had a copy of, 2nd & 3rd are the times I’ve groomed her MYSELF. 4th was the DAY BEFORE her groom. And the last photo is the $88+ essential plus grooming by Andrew. This is the worst cut she’s had in her 10yrs. I have never been compelled to write a review before, this is a first. That fact that I could’ve done a better job myself is infuriating. I wouldn’t trust PETCO beyond a bath and blowout.

great helping staff that took time to brake down everything i need for my new fish tank. she also had many fish tanks that helped guide my decisions from her experiences and took so much time with me to figure out what i need. can’t thank them enough for the expertise and friendliness!

I shopped with you to take advantage of a 20.00 coupon. Your food was 12.00 higher than my regular place and located all the way in the back of the store. Not one employee offered to help. As i finally got it to the front the cashier (a young man) never even offered to help after clearly knowing that I could of used it. I will atick to my pet supplies plus, where there is always someone offering to help and the food is located at the front of the store. Just my honest feedback.

Came in for some probiotics for our bunny, Max. The most friendliest Petco rep. offered great customer service. The lady stopped what she was doing to help locate the item. Highly recommend.
