Sorry John. I still have you in the nice guy territory but not the best experience with my transmission situation. I know you don't need the work and don't care or read these reviews, so this is for others. I took my pickup in with obvious transmission issues. And honest John told me his charming business story and life in Port Charlotte over the last 45 years or so. Left the truck for a checkout and he determined the worst case that it needed a replacement transmission. He was busy and couldn't do it and others he recommended would be 2-3 weeks before they could make repairs. Okay fair enough and I was prepared that it would need that and would be expensive. So i went to AAMCO because they could do the repairs in a week. Well they took the truck in the next day and found it 3qt low on fluid. After clearing the two codes and trans memory they test drive and found marked improvement and suggested I drive a few more days as the transition relearns its shift points. After 25 miles of city/highway driving this thing is driving well with no problems! Checking fluid level, code reading etc should be part of basic checkouts. I cannot recommend John's Transmission based on my experience.

I called John and spoke directly to the man. He was very open with me that he could assist me with my issues...but he was honest and said due to time constraints and lack of personal he would not be able to complete my work. Although he couldn't get my trans repaired...he was very honest. In today's world I give him a ten for honesty. Thank you!!! From Dan the Plumber

John is an awesome guy, despite how he describes himself. Very helpful, always gives great advice, and would rather make sure the customers problem is fixed then take advantage of them. I can see why he is a pillar of the automotive industry here in Port Charlotte.

I called & John answered. He was patient, informative, & very helpful in all my inquiries. While I haven't had the pleasure to use his business I definitely would if my vehicle had transmission problems. The only drawback to my experience is that his facility does not offer any financing.John is a pleasure to talk to!

I had been to 3 different transmission shops , and felt John would be the best choice of all. ,He's been doing this for 45 years. ,He ordered and installed my Reman. 10/21. He and his son are really knowledgeable about Trannys . So far ,so good. ....I would for sure recommend him,

This guy basically makes you wait to even make an appointment and then when you do he doesn't do the work. No calls, no effort, lousy personality. Now I'm delayed by 3 weeks to get something done. Don't make my mistake. Go elsewhere. There are other local garages that do transmission work.

Unprofessional Misogynist My husband made arrangements to have my transmission replaced by John’s Transmissions on Market Cir. My car was drivable, but Honda pilots are known to have transmission issues, it was starting to catch, and wanted to get ahead of further problems. We had already purchased a transmission and had it delivered to the shop – he just had to switch them out. Dropped off my car on Monday. No communication all week so I finally called for an update on Friday at 2 pm and left a message. John calls back and tells me he never even touched my car all week. “It’s just like what it says in Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ and he proceeds to sing the song!!! And he’s laughing while doing this. I am not making this up!! I was totally dumbfounded by his behavior and asked if he was planning to work on it over the weekend and I got another smartass response basically saying that he needed a break. I then said I wanted to pick up my car so not to be without it all weekend as well. My husband and I went to get it, and John still had a joking attitude. I told him I was unhappy about the lack of communication, and being without my car for 5 days with nothing done. He responded by saying “I’ve been in this business for 40 years and knew you would give me a hard time”. I responded back that if he has been in the business that long he should have been able to figure out whether he had time to work on it. I gave him my # and told him to call me when he figured out when he could do the work. He called my husband shortly after and told him he didn’t have a good “taste” in his mouth and refused to fix the car. My husband returned today to pick up the transmission – John barely spoke to him. To call this guy unprofessional is paying him a compliment.
