Complete ripoff, picked up small package that would fit in a medium priority Mail box, but it came in a giant box ( 6 times larger than the item) FedEx and I got stuck for $200 for this service ?

I used Craters & Freighters to ship a grandfather clock from Florida to New Jersey. The movers arrived on time and carefully crated the clock. When it was ready for delivery in NJ, they contacted me and we arranged a delivery date and time. The movers arrived on time and carefully unpacked the clock. (I had arranged for optional white glove service, rather than moving the clock into the house myself.) We discovered some damage to the clock, which the movers and I photographed. I called the local Craters & Freighters office and they contacted a local clock expert. He came and fixed the clock. The repair was covered by insurance, which was part of the original quote. Everything went smoothly. I found the Florida and New Jersey offices friendly, professional and responsive.

I have used Craters & Freighters Miami at least 4 times to ship items from the US to my home in the Bahamas. Joe and Cecil could not be more helpful and keep me alerted as to when all of my items have arrived and are ready for crating and shipping. Everything has always arrive intact and on time. I highly recommend this company.

I sent a piece of pilates equip.from Fl to Co. and it arrived damaged badly. It arrived on the Fri before Labor Day. I sent a email with pictures immediately and waited for someone to contact me.

After they picked up my packed crate, it was a week before I received a revised estimate reflecting the correct weight. The correction I expected; the week delay was not. It took another week for the crate to actually be shipped, and two weeks more for the crate to arrive and a two more days for local delivery to be scheduled. In addition, I had packed another box to contain the overflow. I specifically taped that box, but they opened it anyway. They then repacked that into the original box and one additional box. I should have used UPS or FedEx for that box. It contained my laptop and accessories, but the laptop did not arrive. They of course deny everything, but they had opened the one box I had taped shut. (The large crate was not sealed.) It has been, so far, six weeks of back-and-forth with them about an insurance claim, which they assert they cannot file because I did not provide them with a list of high value items (which they did not ask for). I had paid for what turned out to be extra insurance because neither their website nor their quote stated that the package was insured for the freight of the freight. I purchased the insurance thinking to cover any possible damage; I did not expect what happened. FedEx refers shippers to them; not anymore if I can help it.

We were shipping our small move through a company called Ship Smart (do not use!!) and they hired Craters and Freighters to pick up and palletize our boxes and furniture. We received our items and there were some scratches and chips to the furniture. Overall, however, our items were packed very carefully and they definitely did not scrimp on packing materials. The FedEx driver who delivered it even expressed admiration for how well the pallets were packed.
