Recently, due to the death of my mother, I was placed in totally new territory: being both a successor trustee and an executor of the will. This involved lots of unfamiliar red tape. The Amtrust team of Erica and Candy were super helpful. Erica and Candy made what could have been a difficult experience a relatively painless one. They went out of their way (beyond expected customer service) to explain things carefully, and to help me through the cumbersome and puzzling procedures.

A very ghetto run bank. Expect a lot of mistakes and calling the 800 number will keep you on hold up to 30 minutes. Definitely not the quality you'd expect. A good bank for small accounts only because open on weekends, but don't trust big money with this bank.

Have you ever walked into a restaurant and saw empty tables? Did it give you a clue that maybe this isn't the best business? Welcome to Amtrust Bank, where there are more employees than customers. There's a reason for that - they can't whip up good customer service. If there are three or more customers, they wait. Because even though there are several employees, they just can't seem to handle the work. I've been using this branch - for their safety deposit boxes - since the bank was built. I waited for the safety deposit box because my bank - where I have several accounts and a mortgage - didn't have available boxes. I didn't mind waiting in the past because they had a great bank manager who has since retired and I only went into the bank a couple of times per year. But in the past few years the bank has failed to apply my annual payments. One year they were so confused by the payment they deposited my payment into the account I was forced to open in order to get a safety deposit box...even though the payment listed the three digit box on the memo of the check. They are easily confused. When we opened the bank account to get the box, the rep who set up the account double billed us for the safety deposit box and we had to alert them about that. They just can't do basic banking tasks. This year they said they didn't get the safety deposit box payment. It turned out that I sent it before the 7 days preceding the due date so they didn't apply the check. They also didn't tell me. I had to ask them and then - because they have not one idea where they put my check - they told me to call my other bank to stop the payment. Wow. Goodbye Amtrust. You are just unable to do basic banking transactions and I found that my bank now has boxes available. Hallelujah! So, for the few people who go to Amtrust, reading the signs on the door telling them to remove sunglasses and hats before entering - there's a comforting thought - best of luck to you. You will need it. They just can't handle transactions or basic customer needs.
