I called about 30 minutes before closing time and told him my wheel was making a terrible sound and he said bring it on over. I get there and he immediately jacked the car up and inspected the wheel. We noticed it was just some loose lug nuts so he tightened them up a sent me on my way. Very nice and polite man and was more than willing to help me out in a pinch. Definitely recomend.

Mr. Smith is a great old skool, solo mechanic. Straight shooter, tells you like it is, but is also very helpful and kind. He's worked on all of my cars in the last few years except the 2000 Volvo. He's not set up to work on them, so I can't hold that against him.

Old school fix it right the first time mechanic that makes repairs that last. We've taken our families cars to him for years. We actually found out about Smith's from a family friend and been going to him ever since to get our vehicles repaired.

Brought the car in with in late November, 2019, with an issue of the engine overheating. Mechanic called after several hours and said it was caused by a bad valve on the coolant line and that the repair should only cost $100.Called back the next day several times and he finally answered and said the repair was completed but the cost would be $450; he reasoned that the original estimate was off because of a.the Unexpected high Cost of the part (he said it was because he had to purchase it from the dealer, though the 2nd mechanic alleged that the replacement valve did not match the dealer's style/quality as he'd worked with said GMC dealership for several decades) and b. because the labor had required several more hours than expected . The later claim was especially interesting , because after I picked up the car and it started to overheat again , I ended up having to take it to the parenthetically aforementioned 2!_ mechanic and he was able to fix the connection point with a steel clamp in less than 40 minutes for just $20 with out repeated incident after nearly 3 months. So this Guy hadn't properly attached the line back together after all those alleged 4+ hours of hard labor ! Still, I had the car brought first back to this, the original mechanic, but since he didn't answer the phone and couldn't be found at the shop , I was forced to try the next available (2nd) mechanic. This guy called me back after 5+ days but by then, we had left town, our wallets gauged and are car only running because we found that 2nd guy who helped us out with a tiny fraction of the time and at less than 4% of the cost of this guy. En fin, very disappointed with this experience here.

I called 2 days in advance to have my wheel bearing repaired. I dropped it off at the scheduled time which was 8 am. I was told that my car would be finished by end of business the same day. I called at 3 pm to check on my car and the man who answered said, "Oh I'm sorry, I meant to call u earlier, but I won't be able to fix it today." So you've had my car for 7 hours and didn't have time to call me and let me know you couldn't get to it? Really put a damper on my plans. Thanks for nothing Smith's.
