My mother hired this company to move her out of her home on Friday 8/2/24 and into her new home the same day. A few days before 8/2, my mother received a phone call about the price of the move. They almost DOUBLED the cost to move her less than 72 hours before the move and already had my mom under contract with a deposit. Upon arrival, they were late. They were supposed to get there at 8 a.m. and didn't arrive til around 9:30 which caused the house to not be clear for the final walk through and new homeowners buying my Moms home (Ocean Moving + Storage was aware of the time restriction). They left my Moms house, but did not arrive for 4 HOURS. It is a 2 hour drive. They arrived smelling of w33d. The lead guy sat in the truck for 3 hours while the other 2 about killed themselves to get everything unloaded which is apparently a standard as Ocean Moving and Storage said "he is not required to work". Ok, awesome. When they were done, the same guy that sat in the truck the entire time wanted to get defensive towards my mother when he was confronted about damaged furniture and broken items as well as a wall being marked up, but didn't like it when I said something back! They definitely took advantage of my Mother and the situation. They took off the glass door to make accessing the house easier to unload everything and DID NOT put the glass door back on the frame. They dumped everything in the living room and left my 64 y/o Mom to figure it out. We continue to find more damage and broken items as we unpack. PLEASE I AM BEGGING EVERYONE THAT IS LOOKING...... FIND A DIFFERENT MOVING COMPANY! They were the most unprofessional moving company I have ever dealt with and definitely not worth the $$$.
Part 2 - 8/13/24
Spoke to Barbie who is apparently an operations manager for ocean moving and storage. Emailed her on Friday 8/9, got a short response back saying she'd reach out after the weekend. According to them that does not mean Monday, so i called myself yesterday (Monday) and Barbie was not there! Got an email from her today stating I'd hear from her by tomorrow (8/14) noon the latest. I responded to that email with the word "DAYS" because "it shouldn't take DAYS to have a problem addressed" in capital and according to her that was a very angry tone. BUT SHE CALLED because she didn't like the way my email was worded, I guess. She also did not like my punctuation which was periods, commas and exclamation points. At this point, she no longer wanted to talk to me; only my mother. Lucky for her my mother was on hold on the other line! Barbie said she was not ready to speak to her, but I put her on the line anyways. She proceeded to tell us the steps to submit a claim for damages and our moving experience. Waiting on the instructions to do so and we will go from there. They 100% are thief's and took advantage. They are a 3rd party sourced out through brokers in an unmarked rental truck. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!

Terrible experience moving from Iowa to Minnesota. Starting with an estimate that doubled come moving day then our items were supposed to be delivered the next day and were delayed a week due to an apparent truck breaking down. Two small children in a new state with no belongings. We then had multiple items damaged in the move and the movers and customer service were altogether unhelpful throughout the entire process. Nickel and dimed us the whole experience and would only take odd payment methods which was not addressed during the estimate process. Booked through Interstate Freight. Do not use either company.

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Ocean Moving and Storage and feel compelled to share it to help others avoid the same issues.
Unprofessional Conduct: The movers arrived 30 minutes late, were not in uniform, and used an unmarked rental truck, which raised serious concerns about the legitimacy of the service. They pressured me to proceed with the move without a proper explanation of additional charges.
Miscommunication: Upon arrival, the movers informed me that I needed additional packing, long carry, and space, which was not communicated during the initial agreement. They claimed I had 17 more boxes than estimated, leading to unexpected and unjustified costs.
Increased Charges: The cost of the move was suddenly quoted to be $1,800 more than the initial estimate. The on-site person used a piece of paper and an iPhone calculator to quote this amount, which was highly unprofessional and inconsistent with the initial estimate provided.
Lack of Response: Despite my multiple attempts to resolve these issues and request a refund for my deposit, I have not received a satisfactory response from the company. The service provided did not meet the expectations set forth in our agreement, and the additional charges were not communicated clearly or professionally.
Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided by Ocean Moving and Storage and would not recommend them based on my experience.

Extortion seems to be a business practice for this company. I hired another company that brokered the job to this company. The day prior to the move they call to confirm the date and require another additional deposit. This time it had to be cash or money order. Something wasn't right i could feel it over the phone. What was I supposed to do, I had the utilities and everything so I agreed. They show up and the first thing they day is, there's a lot more stuff to move than previously quoted. Not the case, they said that they would have to charge a little more. They loaded the truck, moved 5 miles to the new house then said that it was going to cost an additional $2,000. Cash to have the belongings unloaded. I'm reporting these guys to the BBB, I'm confident that they will just reopen in a new name.
I'm also going to report the company that brokered out the job to this company. It's the only way this deceitful and unprofessional company can stay in business.

Ocean Moving and Storage is a company of full of clowns, they lie about everything they cheat you out of money and they steal your stuff.
The guy who worked on my move all he did was beg for a tip and no he got nothing, and he is a weed head all he talked about was getting high.
I will tell anybody do not use these clowns or Eagle Movers who contacted them

Terrible moving company. They use 3rd party movers who DO NOT care about your belongings. A lot of stuff was lost or damaged and their Insurance is a joke. They pay you $.60 per pound. We lost about $700 worth of stuff and they paid us $69.00. They also sliced our personal rebounder in half to remove the top part off the frame and then wrapped it in bubble wrap so you couldn't see it. Very shady

Expectations were not fulfilled due to lack of communication & lies. I was told by a broker one thing, then told by an employee another thing. Signed contract. New home buyers could not move in the house on time, so they were angry. Movers got the furniture out of my home. Then took 16 days (last day to arrive on contract) to get it to my new location, where they arrived and no workers showed up to move the materials. I tried to complain and the company would not budge on any of the price, not even 100 dollars, the company does not understand the policy of "customers always right." Don't use a broker, don't hire this company. No management to make decisions, talked to 3 different people to solve one stupid small issue. They always accused me of threatening them due to me using the words "coming to look for them" due to wanting to talk in person at an office location of which they denied me going too. I will file on the BBB, I would recommend other follow suit. They take advantage of the consumer. Pieces broken, missing pieces as well. Broken and damaged will happen, but missing? BTW, moving help showed up and they came from the "House of Hope," in Mankato, MN. Look that company up, it rests my case. Good luck when using this company, surely isn't an ocean of beautiful water, it's a volcano of burning rocks.

I had a wonderful experience they gave me a great price recognize being a Veteran and Sr. They communicate perfectly and delivered professional ethics and no questions hands down best in town. We had the min load bit they treated us as if we had full load. And respected my 87 Mother and no signs of up sell. They actually donated a few critical boxes. Didn’t even work us for tips!
Take time to talk with them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They stole our stuff!!! The day of moving they came and INSISTED certain items be reboxed or taken out of what they were in and put in to a box. Those items they insisted on doing were boxed by the movers and conveniently every single item they boxed up is somehow missing and they are saying it’s unable to be tracked. Absolutely disgusting. Please don’t use this company. Thousand of dollars of our stuff is missing.

OCEAN MOVING & STORAGE showed up 6 hours late, had an attitude, stole my nice dolly and my $500 toolbox, and threw almost everything unwrapped in oversized wardrobe boxes. They showed NO CARE for boxes and items labeled as FRAGILE or identified as ANTIQUES, yet threw things around like kids toys. My one heirloom from my Father was a handmade/carved mahogany bedroom suit that is (was) over 100 years old – DESTROYED! It’s excruciatingly hard to forgive a company that you spend thousands of dollars on, and cares so very little. Obviously these two “Veteran Owned” “Veteran Friendly” companies – it’s just “lip service”! DO YOURSELF, YOUR FAMILY HEIRLOOMS, AND YOUR BANK ACCOUNT A FAVOR – DO NOT EVER USE OR RECOMMEND 3 BROTHERS MOVING OR OCEAN MOVING & STORAGE – THEY WILL STEAL YOUR BELONGINGS, TAKE YOUR MONEY, NEVER CALL YOU BACK, AND CARELESSLY BREAK YOUR HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND IRREPLACEABLE ANTIQUES AND HEIRLOOMS!!! If you need photo evidence, I have dozens. A majority of my belongings were all unwrapped and just thrown into extra large wardrobe boxes. Wicker, wooden, ceramic, porcelain items thrown into boxes with heavy metal objects handgun ammunition, dumbbells... you name it!!!

Please listen to the negative reviews and save yourself the heartache. To say this company and it's employees are worthless would be giving them too much credit. They are predatory, untrustworthy, and will break at least half of your items during the move. Avoid at all cost. Don't be deceived by their first low ball estimate because that will end up tripling by the time you move.

Ocean Moving & Storage Company was horrible! They were sub-contracted through Amerisafe Moving Services, who were also horrible. Be sure to read the fine print on the contracts. What they tell you on the phone is a very different story from what actually happens. The original quote for my sons move was $3400.00. it actually ended up being $6,500.00 for several upcharges along the way. The actual delivery time was also much longer than what was discussed on the phone. The whole moving process can be a scam... be sure you know what you getting into with several of these moving companies.

We're starting with a two-star review, but trust me, it'll get worse. My mom reached out to MoveSafe, paid a hefty deposit, only to have another company, Ocean Moving and Storage, show up unannounced, strong-arming her into accepting their terms or face penalties. What's worse, it turns out MoveSafe brokered the contract to this team without her knowledge, leaving her at the mercy of strangers with her belongings. They arrived late at night, pressuring her into signing contracts under duress or face additional charges. To add insult to injury, they're now threatening fines if she's not available when they decide to show up, and they're holding her belongings hostage, demanding an extra $400 for "difficulties" they might encounter.
This company preys on the vulnerable, bombarding them with surprise fees and threats. Their unethical practices of adding hidden charges and extorting money in exchange for releasing belongings flagrantly violate business ethics. We've documented every detail and are ready to take action, starting with reaching out to authorities like the BBB and Consumer Affairs, and we won't hesitate to escalate it on social media.
Update as of 01-10-2023: They arrived late, demanding an extra $400 under false pretenses, then tried squeezing an additional $800 from us. Despite promises of a refund, it took an hour for the money to reappear in our account. As if that weren't enough, half of my mom's belongings are damaged or missing, and filing a claim is turning into a nightmare.
Update as of 03-29-2024: The nightmare continues with more broken items, and the complaint process is a complete joke. We're now reaching out to the other company, MoveSafe, to obtain complaint forms, as they brokered the contract to this incompetent bunch. They even managed to put her $3k bed together upside down and damaged it in the process, drilling unnecessary holes in the frame. This bed was her pride and joy, and now it's a squeaky, falling-apart mess. She had to collect before and after pictures of the bed from when she had movers take her to Florida to see what they did.
Just No.

Terrible Company. Moved my 87 year old Mother to Assisted Living and broke multiple items. They refuse to reimburse her. Use this company at your peril. They will change the price after you agree and they have your items. They then demand a Cashiers check before they will release your property. Beware!
