I had the pleasure of doing private swimming lessons with Ms. Khorinn, who is absolutely amazing! She was very patient with me, helped me learn different techniques and how to remain calm instead of panicking. I am new to swimming and panic kicks the second I cannot touch the bottom of the pool. Ms. Khorinn listened to me, taught me techniques I'd never heard of and I often caught myself smiling with joy as she encouraged me(noting my progress).
At this time I know how to breathe under water, can glide, tread water in deep areas and swim. I have to spend more time in the water to perfect my craft; but I am more comfortable than I ever was before. I was so nervous and at each session I left with a new technique; she never made feel bad at times I thought I wasn't grasping what was being taught. I'd highly recommend Khorinn as your private or group swimming instructor! It's was one thing for her to show me in the water; at times she showed me steps outside the water which was more visible and easy for me to grasp. Such an great experience!

I wish they had a better system for crediting members when a class is canceled. I paid for 8 swimming lessons and because of the storm the last two were canceled and they wouldn’t give any reimbursement. The classes already cost around $150. At least the staff is friendly

It was very hard to reach anyone by phone to ask about membership. So I signed up and gifted my friend and her family a monthly membership online. She did not find this facility useful. She took her kids to the pool but they were only allowed half hour usage as they were not signed up for additional paid swim lessons. It is nearly impossible for others to get time without it even though you still pay for $54/ month fee. I have tried for the last couple of months to cancel the membership by calling the the office, sending multiple messages through their portal and finally by leaving a couple of messages for their director Jim Barnes; all were unsuccessful. When I finally got through to someone, they requested I fill out a cancellation form and email it back, which I did. To this day after leaving another voice message, I still have not had a response. Eventually, I called my cc company to block the charge. What a complete waste of time.

been a member for about 10 years. gotten old and handicapped but been paying for past 3 years and not going. Today called to cancel my membership and was told I must "come down in person to fill out a form". I am an adult and want to cancel my membership. You can cancel almost anything on the phone but not YMCA of the palm beaches. Asked the great employee on the phone and she could not explain WHY. Called and left msg for manager Jim Barnes and CEO Tim coffied . No answer yet.$39 a month not used for 3 years could they give me my $1404 back. Not happy with in person requirement.on Friday 9-16 Jim Coffied called and canceled my membership. My problem has been resolved

This is a little smaller than the one I'm used to in Hollywood Florida but it's packed full of wonderful things. The swimming pool is inside and temperature controlled. The exercise room is fast and clean.

I’ve always loved the Y. They have taught my son how to swim and has very responsible instructors. Love their martial arts classes as well. The current swim team instructor is lacking in teaching all strokes & providing guidance to all kids during classes. He provides instruction to some kids but does not provide to ALL. This is unfortunate because I’ve always enjoyed most of the instructors. Great programs for kids otherwise.

I decided to sign up last week for a membership since I wanted my kids to improve their swimming skills. The young girls in the front desk seem to be new and did not provide all the information needed. I took my kids to a class today which is on the schedule by the way to find out that the class was cancelled for the whole week because the teacher is out. I understand emergencies happen but if you know in advance this is unacceptable. Instead of updating the schedule, sending a courteous email to the members letting them know, or simply finding a substitute to fill in they just left it on the schedule and let it be. When I asked the front desk where the teacher was 5 min after the class was due to start they were also perplexed and had no idea until they asked someone who I believe is a manager. The manager then informed me that she does not find it necessary to update a schedule for a week and that I would have known if I had called to reserve the spot. To which I might add I highly doubt because the front desk girls had no idea when I asked about the teacher and I would like to add again I was never informed of that policy. The employees there would benefit a lot of customer service training. I have been in many other YMCA's before and it is my first time experiencing this. The manager 100% needs to improve her people skills. She could've easily just apologized and explained there had been a mistake instead of just trying to justify it and prove me wrong.I really hope that with this review someone can address this with them. It would be a shame if they lose members for something that can easily be fixed with customer service training and improving some daily task in the facility. Members pay memberships and should be treated with respect. The facility is a little run down and an update would benefit it a lot as well.
