As we received the sad news that our dog needed to be put to sleep, Dr. Tanko and all of the staff were very compassionate. They gave us the opportunity to be with our precious buddy all through the process and then we could be with him as long as we needed for final goodbyes.

A vet that really cares about your pet. Dr. Tanko is easy to talk with and honest about your furry friends options for their care. We've been using Dr. Tanko for over 20 years. I think that says all that needs to be said.

I brought a 5 week old Blue nose bully covered with mites to Dr Tanko 8 years ago . He saved him and he's a people loving muscular healthy 82 lb boy today thanks to Dr Tanko and staff Lynda Hyers

Dr. Tanko and his staff are wonderful people. Pragmatic and never trying to upsell. I took my little guy here for 10+ years. Near the end the staff would get me in the same day when I needed. I have a new little guy now and will definitely go to Dr. Tanko.

I needed a new vet since i moved read the reviews and called to schedule...Lady said she could get me in around 11:30am i told her i work it would have to be after 2pm. They told me they don't schedule past 1-2pm.Huh??? Your open until 5 what do you do for those 4hrs if theres no appointments??? So now im lookin for another vet.

We started with Dr. Tanko when he first opened his practice in Boot Ranch so we have been with him for a very long time. Over the years we never hesitated to recommend My Pet Animal Hospital to friends and family, but that has all changed, not because of Dr. Tanko, but because of his front office staff. Over the more recent years his front office staff has become rude and condescending, which we initially overlooked believing the person was having a bad day. One incident occurred when we returned from a road trip and out 5 lb toy poodle developed diarrhea one the way home. I contacted My Pet Animal Hospital and was told they could not do anything until our pet was seen by the vet. They had all of his records and there was no attempt for any assistance. No offer to get back with me after speaking with the vet. No offer of a can of prescription digestive care dog food to calm his stomach.....NOTHING, but our pet would have to see the vet. Just another day of business with no regard for the sick animal. We continued with this office for another two years overlooking the rudeness and indifference by the front office staff until one day we decided we no longer needed to be treated that way. Fortunately we found a vet in Dunedin who has been absolutely wonderful. She goes out of her way to care for our loved pets, does not remove our pets when being treated and her office staff are friendly and helpful. We are happy we made the move.

Been taking my dog and cat here for a long time. They helped put my family dog asleep 7 years ago. And it's this kind of care and empathy for my pet, that I keep coming back for. Dr Tanko's care and love for the animals is genuine

Wow. I’m in the market for a new vet as my old one retired and called today to ask a simple question and then was going to set up an appt for a check up. The lady had the worst snarky condescending attitude. I decided not to follow through with an appt. If you cannot answer my question bc I’m not yet a client or whatever the reason, that’s totally fine, but there’s no need to speak to me that way. Unnecessary.

Dr. Tanko and the staff are compassionate and provide wonderful care. They recommend reasonable care plans and options to give your pet the best treatment possible. Above all, the personal care and attentiveness are something you can always expect from an independently owned veterinary office.

This vet is awesome! He gives you all your options and lets you choose. He does not pressure you into doing the most expensive treatment.

In the past, I would have given them 5 stars....today the front desk at Dr. Tankos' office were so rude to me today. I left. She kept talking over me and was totally unprofessional. We really like Dr. Tanko, but I am really upset being treated this way. I feel the need to write this review since no one behind the desk would let me speak or ask a question.I have been to the office several times during Covid and totally respect protocol. I was trying to communicate to her that in the past during covid, they've let me come inside and sit on the bench with Buddy since he's blind. I was trying to explain that to her through the door but she kept interupting me. He panics outside the door. She told me to wait outside with him and we did. Buddy was getting nervous and every time I tried to communicate with her she cut me off. We continued waiting outside while she checked someone out. Then she sent a tech outside with me that asked me if I wanted her to hold Buddy. I said no, and tried to explain that he is blind and nervous outside and that we usually sit on the bench even during covid, but I couldn't get a word in and wasn't able to explain it. Today was filled with a lot of interrupting and attitude. They seemed over worked and it was only 10:30 am. I was let inside to sit on the bench, even while another customer was there. When she was done checking them out, she had a tone with me. Every time I tried to ask a question, she'd cut me off. At one point she said, "I have a blind dog too". Dr. Tanko came out to ask what the issue was and I tried to explain, guess what....the receptionist interrupted me again. Dr. Tanko tried to fix it by suggesting we get Buddy's weight. When I went to the scale with him, the receptionist said something to me with a tone and I was done by that point and left. Then she dismissed me and with a condescending tone, told me to have a nice day. They all went to the back and as I left I thanked them for taking care of our Daisy that passed last year. Not sure if they heard me, because that was the theme of the day. Communication was lost today. Very sad, they've always been nice to us.

I absolutely love this vet's office and the entire staff here! I've been going here with my cat for almost 10 years, and it has always been very reliable. Earlier this year I had a bit of a pet scare, and I cannot emphasize enough how helpful, supportive, and accommodating My Pet Animal Hospital was. My cat is doing great, and I'm grateful to have such dependable and trustworthy vet care.
