DrApril nd staff Lisa, Halley, Journey,Abigail, Gunner nd any I may have missed r dedicated nd attentive to the needs of all the animals at the clinic. When u watch April work u r seeing "Dr Doolittle" in real life. She is an amazing human being dedicated to the well being of ur babies. Im so very greatful for having such a fantastic caring nd kind individual/Dr here to be there at r times of need. Thank u Dr April nd everyone Mary nd Penelope

Absolutely terrible! I waited over an hour to be seen by the vet and I was the only one in the office. She kept my tortoise for 3 days. I was told it would cost around $350., but they needed a $500 deposit in case anything else came up. When I went to pick him up I was charged an addition $83. And the vet did not speak with me about what was wrong with my tortoise. I was told she would call. She never did. I called two days later hoping to speak with the vet and told my call would be returned. It never was. My tortoise lost a piece of his jaw. Called the vet, again told my call would be returned, it never was. Almost 2 weeks later and my tortoise has a hole in the bottom of his jaw and might lose the rest of it. I NEED to take my tortoise to a DIFFERENT vet but I'm not interested in paying almost $600 again so I just want to know what she tested for so I can tell the new vet! My call still has not been returned! Worst experience ever! This place is a SCAM!

I personally didn’t go here due to the interaction I had with them, I felt the conversations were rushed & rude. I got a call back over an hour later, twice asking for a $500 deposit before even seeing my bearded dragon. I didn’t even bother calling back & went to another exotic vet for 2x less than what they were asking even before any treatment. I will not recommend them to anyone. I don’t normally leave bad reviews, I’m a good genuine person looking out for others.

Dr April went above and beyond to nurse my 6 year old squirrel back to health. she found what others could not using her experience and keen eye to find a abscess. her communication threw this worrisome process was amazing, still amazed I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone especially those with exotic pets. rodents, rabbits,birds etc...You name it- she knows her stuff!! and everyone who came threw the door with there animals that has dealt with her before also raved about her!!! We drove the 2 hours after talking on the phone with her, We we're that confident our girl would Get the best care and that she did. The staff were all so nice also and helpful, We want to give them a shout out for all there help. and the location is close and convenient from I-95 so that was a plus in our travel from Brevard County. I don't normally write reviews but This experience is definitely worth sharing for those that want the best care for there animals. Thanks for reading, Sincerely Happy Squirrel & her Mom & Dad

BEST EXOTIC CLINIC IN FLORIDA!!!! Dr. April is a miracle surgeon!!! I am so grateful to have met the most dedicated and knowledgeable vet in Florida, Dr. April Romagnano saved my little hedgehog’s leg from a terrible infection, while amputation was an option Dr. April took all her expertise and efforts to operate on her and save her leg, she is innovative and extremely caring, she treats your pets like they’re her babies. Despite being so busy saving multiple pets from zoo animals to colorful birds, she makes sure to text you updates of her findings and care progress, her and her staff stayed super late to operate on my hedgehog and in the middle of night she called to make sure we did shared decision making, answering all our questions with detail and compassion and making sure we agreed with the surgery. While in the waiting area, I admired the abundance of degrees and certificates on her wall it reassured me that my pet was in excellent hands, it said that she also gives Lectures at UF vet school, she truly went above and beyond calling to check on my pet once we took her home and sharing more test results, I am so so grateful to her, do not hesitate to bring your exotic ANY animal, since she related to us that she has even treated Spiders!!!! She is truly amazing and super dedicated to animals lives, check the smile on my hedgehog after her surgery :) , we will definitely bring our pet tortoise if a problem with him arises too.

2 stars, this lady didn’t seem to have any empathy for my pets just seemed money hungry, in 2018 I brought my cockatiel to dr April because he was limp , she took him over night and charged us for a bunch of unnecessary test, then the next day we got called saying that he passed 2 hours ago, then I bring my rabbit here for what seemed like pink eye she started talking about a bunch of other tests for issues non concerning our issue , after we spend $500-$800 for things that didn’t help his eye we ended up treating it at home and a bit ago I called about my bunny having a bloat in his stomach asking what we should do and she had no empathy , being rude to me on the phone and saying if we don’t pay the $500 deposit for the ER my rabbit will die , I begged her if theirs anything else I could do and she told me no and that if I want him to live I have to hurry because her team will leave soon and once their gone theirs no more helping him . Me and my mother ended up helping our rabbits bloat at home and he’s perfectly healthy today. I say only come here as an emergency but if u Can try and treat ur bunnys issue at home please do it

Do not take your pets here. First of all we had to call to find out our pet had died. They didn't notify us. My boyfriend and I brought in our bearded dragon who had a blockage. The entire staff was rude and judgmental especially the doctor not just to us but everyone there. When we finally found out what was wrong she practically blamed me to the point of tears for what was happening even tho we did everything we could. They will make a shitty situation even worse. Save yourself the extra unnecessary pain and go somewhere else.

Dr. April and staff work around the clock to provide the best care for pets as possible. I feel comfortable knowing that I have access to an Emergency Veterinarian 24 hours a day considering that I have a clumsy blue and gold macaw. She has immediately helped my bird on many occasions and even without emergencies I see her twice yearly for regular testing on my macaw. I'm very fortunate to live near such a great vet. Highly Recommend.

Dr April is the best with parrots. She has saved many of mine from all kinds of different issues. Highly recommended! She will help your pet even in the middle of the night!

If I could leave negative stars as a review, I would, and this is coming from someone who never leaves reviews at all. My first experience with Avian and Exotics was in January, when I made an appointment for a general exam for my Quaker parrot who was found. I showed up to my appointment on time, and I ended up waiting over an hour and a half for the doctor to get there with little to no communication from staff. I ended up having to leave as I had another appointment. The next experience was for an emergency situation, she had a crop infection and was regurgitating. I called ahead and brought her in around noon. I was told I would have to drop her off and the doctor would see her in between appointments in the early afternoon. I provided a $500 deposit when I dropped her off, and signed documentation that THEY provided that further testing/treatment would be discussed with me prior to being done. I didn't hear from them, called multiple times throughout the day and by 9:45 pm I had still not gotten an update from the doctor. At 10 pm I called, again, and finally was able to speak with the doctor who informed me of multiple tests and treatments that she had done, without reviewing any of them with us prior, including the clipping of her wings without our consent. She wanted to keep her overnight for monitoring and stated they would call the next day to give me an update. I had gotten zero updates or communication from them the next day until I called late afternoon and asked if I could come get her. When I arrived to pick her up, I was informed of another $500+ in costs in addition to our $500 deposit. The doctor had not even planned on speaking to me to review anything had we not pushed to speak with her. We brought her home, although she was still in pretty rough shape. When I reached out to the doctor concerned, her response was something like, "well you were pushing to bring her home." Thankfully she recovered, although since her wings were trimmed so short, she had no flight abilities AT ALL and fell straight to the ground each time she tried. She started plucking near her back area. I regretfully brought her back to them, waited two hours once again for the appointment, and Dr. April said she had a back injury. From the fall. From not being able to fly at all because of the wing trim she provided, without consent. We did blood work at that time because we wanted to see where everything was at with her due to the situation prior, and were prescribed Gabapentin to help manage her pain/anxiety. She had already been scheduled to board with them as we were going out of town. I dropped her off that Thursday, a few days following our appointment, and informed both Dr. April and the woman at the front desk to please inform me if any further testing or treatments needed to be done while she was there prior to doing them. They both assured me that nothing would need to be done, but if that was the case they would call me. Her blood work came back while she was in boarding and without any communication, Dr. April started her on two medications due to the results of the blood work which she informed me of after the fact which honestly I was fine with, she needed them. What she did not go over is the fact that she administered fluids (she was perfectly stable.) I did not find this out until Sunday night when I picked her up. The doctor was "unavailable" to speak with me to review the additional things she had done, again without consent, including the administration of the meds the started her on. I was quoted $20/day for boarding and left with another $500+ vet bill with services I did not consent to and no explanation. Since she was boarded, in March, I have been attempting to get my records from her visits along with the blood work results. I have called no less than 5 times and gone in person once. I have found a new vet who has also attempted to reach out to them. Each time I get the same response, "the doctor has to review them." Each time it is promised that someone will follow up to m

I would give this place negative stars if I could, and I’m not even the type to leave reviews at all. Palm City Avian & Exotic has been nothing but an absolute headache since the moment I walked in their door. They will run tests without consent or reviewing it with you, and then ask you to pay for them without any communication from the doctor who felt the testing was necessary in the first place. They trimmed my parrots wings without consent when she was in the ER. It took over 12 hours to hear any kind of update at all from the doctor when she was admitted into the ER, and even then, I had to contact them. I gave them another chance when I dropped her off for boarding and made sure to communicate that if any testing needed to be done, to please call me first. I picked her back up on Monday with another $500 vet bill, a new test, and a new treatment given for my parrot that was not necessary nor explained to me in any way shape or form. Every visit (4, one attempted where I waited for an hour and a half and had to leave for another appt) we ever had with Dr. ***** I ended up waiting for over an hour. I have been trying to get my birds medical records from them for over a month and get the same exact response every time I try, \

My pet turkey Holly got injured on Easter evening. Needless to say, finding a vet to see her was impossible. I was finally referred to the Avian and exotic clinic. Not only did they tell me to bring her in, they waited for me because I live over an hour away. Holly had surgery the next day and I received pictures and videos of her throughout her time there. The vet is brilliant. She not only did a miraculous surgery, but also spoiled Holly with grapes and salads! Holly is home now and doing great. I cannot recommend this office highly enough. No matter the hour long drive, I will bring all my exotics to Avian and Exotic from now on!

I have read a few reviews that sound like what I experienced. Let me say I’m sure Dr April is very knowledgeable and well practiced. I didn’t get that far. I called on a Saturday afternoon about our sugar glider. She told me that it would be $500 down payment and they would keep her at least 3 days. We never even told her what’s wrong. It’s just plain extortion. I feel that generating funds was more important than anything as there was nothing to indicate how long our pet should be there. It was very sketchy and no bedside manor at all.

I have brought my birds to Dr. April and her staff since 2004! My bird Pinky1 is an African Grey thats 15 years old who has a history of seizures since he was 8 years old . This Clinic has saved my birds life on more then one occasion ! I can not recommend a more qualified staff or specialist ! They have responded to my emergencies every time and always put my pets lives first! I wish I could give more then 5 stars . Thank you Dr.April & Staff

I brought my crested gecko into the clinic in critical condition. Dr April gave me the honest and unguarded truth. They spent a week working furiously to save her and communicated with me the entire time. Our dear little Tommy the gecko is doing so much better!! Dr. April and her staff truly care about the animals entrusted in their care and their human protectors. I highly recommend this clinic and the loving people who work there!
