I just recommend a double check or a second opinion before paying. I went to this place because my car had a problem in the mechanical box, they gave me a quote of $5,000 usd for the repair (my car costs 3k). I left super sad because they recommended me to buy a new car. I got home and looked for videos on YouTube about other people with the same transmission problem, I bought the part for $100 usd on Amazon and I repaired it with my own hands in 2 hours following a YouTube video. I understand that knowledge and work have a cost, but from $100 that it cost me to fix it on my own to paying $5,000 usd seems excessive to me.
Now my car runs like new ??

My engine blew up on the highway and I appreciated Steve being very upfront that the car was not worth fixing and generously allowing my car to be at his shop until I could find a buyer. Honest and fair place.

These people are playing on their customers specially when customer is less experienced
2 weeks ago went there to fix alternator and oil change and paid them over 500
Plus 80 for general check up of car
They said everything is perfect you can drive
Only 1 week later timing belt broke and i took to different place they said timing belt needed to change immediately when i brought back and tell them what they did
They said me your engine is done and it is 3k to fix it ( car itself is 2300)
When i asked them if i can take my car they still want to charge me 150 and they said they dont accept credit or debit card and are not gonna give me receipt and they are still holding my car
Well i clearly have applied to city court about it and meet them in legal and offical ways
But to all who read this comment should stay away from them , Just horrible and so disrespectful when they know i m foreigner
They clearly took advantage of my situation
When the truth hits hard
Then no answer to reply as he did for other reviews
This business owner knows how to do robbery from customers

Steve by himself who call himself owner is a SCAMMER
He take advantage of young guy took money with intention of rubbing people
Took my Hyundai there with alternator change
My car s part are stolen on purpose try to break to take more money
Dishonest business practice
I call everyone to stay away from this shop

I had the most incredible and best experience ever, Steve, The Manager at Tharp's gave me the most wonderful welcome from the start, he treated me with respect and they worked on my vehicle from day one, I recommend them to everyone and the world, They are Absolutely Awesome!!! Thanks Steve!!!

So I called to see if I could get in for an oil change or would I need to make an appointment? Steve says to me "F" it just come in at 7:30 Thursday, I said we'll I might not be back in town,so Steve says "F" it bring it in on Friday at 7:30. So I show up and Steve says we usually don't take walk ins,so I told him about our previous conversation and he said that he's the only one who answers the phone,and that he would never sat come in at 7:30 because he doesn't want to see anyone's face before 8:00 a.m.
Well don't worry Steve you will not see my face in your shop ever again

I can't say enough about these awesome fellas at Tharps! Steve was a calming voice of reason when I was worrying about my car and repair. Cost was very reasonable and they did their best to get work done quickly for me so we could get back to driving our car. If you need and AC work I would definitely recommend them!

Fantastic. Had front end "wobble". He asked what kind of wobble, I showed him with my hands like they were on the steering wheel and wobbling back and forth. I mentioned it seemed to change with the tire pressure. He said it was almost surely a tire steel belt separating. He was 100% correct. I had also been filing the tire with air about every 6 months and now the last time the indicator light came up I pressured it propery, but the light dashboard low pressure indiator never went you. He said that "nails" it as the problem. And he was correct. Any other place would have started replacing front suspension parts running up hundreds and perhaps thousands of unecessary charges. Hier Kia wanted $200 to diagnose. I don't have to shop around anymore Thrap is my mechanic. Life is so much easier if you have an honest mechanic you can depend on. Truly a blessing, thank you. He even got which tire it was, front right, wow.
I was led to Thrap by yelp and goggle reviews, but you have to read them carefully to discren the truth. I try to always 5 star great companies and 1 star atrotious ones, but there are paid bots, and "influencers" that finagle a good price for a good review and other ways to scam the reiviews An honest man is worth more than gold and deserves the community's repect and gratitude.

Excellent service, got my car towed (free of charge) to the shop and had a solution and quote same day. Car was done and ready for pick up next day, with a free installation of windshield wipers. Very happy, thank you!

We had alternator trouble on the interstate. Guessing I had a little time before I ran out of battery we pulled off and found Tharp.
They quickly diagnosed the issue got the part ordered and had us back on the road within 2 hours.
But more importantly, than that they were kind but straightforward. We also witnessed 4 others receive service and were taken with how to the point and quick they were able to serve their issues as well.

Very effective shop. I had a diagnosis from Ford that the engine in my car needed to have the flex plate replaced, but the price to do it at Ford was much higher than here, so I brought it in.
After checking the car at no cost before proceeding to do the replacement of the flex plate, he was not clear on the diagnosis from Ford and helped me reconsider the decision and instead of replacing the flex plate, we are trading in the car as it may have bigger engine issues.
I am definitely coming back to this shop

Tharps is the best auto repair shop around hands down! My husband and I have brought our last 3-4 vehicles here, having been going for years and I could honestly say we won't go anywhere else. It's hard to find an affordable, honest and schedule efficient mechanic and Steve and his guys are all of these. They are always very straightforward about our diagnosis and give us affordable options to fix it. They don't pick apart things for extra services and fees and are confident in their work. After I have major parts replaced they will reach out months later and make sure everything is running great and I have NEVER had an issue after a repair. Whether you just need a simple oil change or something big looked at go to tharps! They are the best!
