What a great place the cafe is to eat for lunch Mrs Elaine and Ms Carline are the greatest along the staff. While my family member was at Select I knew I could get a good meal every day. And it was so delicious. I will be going back soon

This place is like a prison hospital. This place should be the LAST resort for you to bring your family member to. The hospitals, especially AdventHealth, pushes you to come here. This place is terrible. Toilets don’t work, lack of care for wound care and they’re ventilators are from the 1960s. Patients stay in their feces for hours. Our family member developed extreme rashes and redness on the bottom. Nurses and CNAs do not care to work. Found them on their phones in the hallway while I rang the bell for assistance and no one came. No doctors at night. No Physical therapy or wound care during the weekend. No briefs or diapers for patients!!! They let them use the bathroom on the paddings in their beds. This place is horrific. STAY AWAY.

Many people have commented on the medical staff, but I’d like to say how great of a job the cafe staff does. My family member has been a patient here for some time and no matter what, I can always count on Elaine and the whole kitchen staff to greet me with a smile and serve up delicious food. I have never gone away hungry or unsatisfied with a meal served here!

If they had more stars I would give them, I just want to say that we left very happy with the treatment they had with my mother, My mother came to Select after a stroke with a tracheostomy and a feeding tube, without talking or walking, she spent 2 weeks in Select attended that everyone was very good and the doctors were very, very professional, all the staff were excellent, my mother was in very good hands From head to toe, thank you very much for all your attention, and to the food service manager Alex Mercado, excellent person and his food, wow, thank you, if in the future, God forbid, I would require the Select service again...

This place is corrupt, my brother went there for vent weening , they gave up on him yet kept him there in limbo milking his Medicare till the very last day, case manager Erica repeatedly lied and dragged her feet with communication and transferring him. Reggie the Medicare rep disappeared even though he was supposed to have my brothers best interest in mind...we only got proper communication his last couple of days from a totaly rando case manager who by the way was very nice but it was too little too late...they contributed to prolonging my brothers revovery, multiple people from doh to the facility he just was transfered to can corroborate how corrupt they are..i.hope Karma finds Erica and all the other administrators who were so awful to my brother.

Although the first impression was not ideal due to miscommunication upon being transferred from ORMC, Select Specialty Hospital succeeded in providing my husband with quality care. During his three week stay after suffering a catastrophic workplace injury, by the grace of God, they managed to get him off sedation, off all IV meds, off the ventilator and oxygen, talking again with a Passy-Muir valve, sitting and standing again, walking, using the toilet… and finally they removed the tracheostomy. We are delighted to see him recover so rapidly. Thank you Select! And special thanks to all the staff, techs, CPAs, Nurses, and Doctors. Shirley, Olga, Emilio, Bebe, Lulu, Jose, Hector, Noelle, Amanda, Fabrina, Natasha, Kimberley, Jeff, Dr. Vangala, Tini, and everyone else who has had an impact on our family.

Very clean facility. Erica was so great to work with and the doctors really helped us understand exactly what to expect. Alex the food manager had a fun time keeping up with my husbands seven meals a day :) physical therapy sessions twice a day and all the countless nurses, rn’s, nurses assistants, pulmonary team, nutritionist and cleaning staff are all professional and very friendly. Dr. Ayadi is fantastic at what he does.

make sure you visit your loved one frequently. I arrived and my dad was sitting with diarrhea everywhere, and it was completely dried which mean he was like that for some time. The Respiratory Therapist Mara was extremely rude when I asked her to help my father while he was choked on his own saliva. I was told by Mara that it was unfair to the other patients for her to spend an extra minute with my father. Fortunately another nurse walking by saw he was struggling, and took it upon herself to help.

67 days ago when my husband first came to select specialty Hospital I was not impressed with the nursing staff. I did not feel they were giving him the attention he needed, and a few of the CNA’s had no bedside manner. Once we got used to them and they us, my feelings changed immensely. This is definitely a five-star institution. The facility is kept very clean. The food is wonderful, it really is home-cooked comfort food. The administration really cares about the patients. The nursing staff is understaffed, but they do the very best to keep the patients comfortable and safe. Where SSH really excels is in their therapy, Respiratory physical, occupational, and speech. Every single therapist went above and beyond their duties. When my husband entered the hospital he was on a ventilator, feeding tube, could not move, and had a very bad infection. He will be leaving without the vent or trach, no feeding tube, can move his arms and legs, and no longer has the infection. We could not be happier with his progress.A very special thank you to Dr. Harrinarine Madhosingh, infectious disease specialist. My husband had an infection which was resistant to most antibiotics, but that didn’t stop Dr. Madhosingh. He kept trying different antibiotics and a combination of drugs until the infection was under control. Dr. Ali and Dr. Vangala were also great and treating my husband. The real stars of SSH are the therapists. Respiratory worked day and night to get my husband to breathe on his own. Physical and occupational therapy, got my husband to move his arms, sit in a chair, and most recently he is now moving his legs. The speech therapist got him off the feeding tube. She checked on him every day and stayed on top of his progress. I wish I could mention everyone that helped my husband, but there were so many.I would like to mention a few, that really stood out. Tiny, Dr. Vangalas’s Nurse Practitioner, Speech Therapist Lauren, Respiratory Therapists Barbara, Lynn, Gregory, and Joseph. Physical Therapists Cintia, Andrea, and Daniel. Occupational Therapists Samantha and Noel. Nursing Staff Kenny L., you seemed to always be there when my husband needed to be moved, Elizabeth, Maureen, Alexis, and Emanite. Thank you all for getting my husband to the next phase of his recovery on to a skilled nursing facility. I would not hesitate to send a family member of a friend to Select Specialty Hospital south.

Some nurses here don't like answering calls and operators sometimes don't pick up calls. I appreciate the Doctors and Assistants, particularly Alex.. So helpful and informative. Would give a better rating if calls were handled a bit better.

The food here is great! Not like regular hospital food. Breakfast Lunch or Dinner we have yet to get a bad meal. Carline is very aware of my food allergies and makes me special meals some days to compensate for my allergies. The cafeteria is open for lunch to anyone.

My Mother had a hemorrhagic stroke in September 2022. She was initially treated at Adventhealth hospital in downtown Orlando and was moved to Select Specialty South in October. Her being moved was extremely nerve-wracking for us as a family as we continued to go through the motions of this process. We couldn't have asked for a better care family than the one we found at Select. Everyone from the front desk to the nursing staff was attentive, welcoming, reassuring and empathetic the almost 3 months she was there. Dr. Ayadi and her Infectious Disease doctor were there everyday, keeping us informed and on top of everything that came up. She was more than taken care of the entire time and although her recovery from her massive brain injury is taking longer than we hoped for, they made it easier on us as a family, while she was there. Their smiling faces made it comfortable for us to be there on a daily basis. We met people we will always remember that went out of their way to hold our hand and support us the whole time she was there. From Pedro, her respiratory tech to even the cafeteria staff that loved on us the whole time. Elaine, you're our favorite person in the world! Thank you for being such a ray of light. Alex, thank you for checking on us the entire time when it wasn't even part of your role - the food management staff is lucky to have you as their leader. When it was time for her to move to the next facility, Nicole her case manager was more than accomodating to our requirements and never rushed us as she knew it was an important next step for her and us. If you have the option of trusting your loved one with them, it will be the best decision you would make for them and their care.
