This office used to be much better when they were Kirkpatrick, but it seems ever since they evolved into SODO they changed, and not for the better. On 2 different occasions they told us my dog's growing fatty tumor was fine. Fast forward to Covid, and it wasn't, but at that point there wasn't much we could do. I had a biopsy done before we moved, and they said they would give me a call when the results came back. I never got a call back, and when I followed up they said it was fluid and I could likely ask the new vet to drain it since it was too large to remove at that point. Well, the new vet tried to drain it and it turned out it wasn't filled with fluid at all, and the attempt to drain it caused it to bifurcate and swell even more. Had they just tried to remove it back when it was manageable he might still be with us for another year or two. Instead it grew out of control and by the 3rd visit/biopsy he was too old too old. He just passed away last Saturday. Ultimately, we never felt at home here, and have just moved our cat to another vet. I think they only care about people who can spare no expense, so to speak. If they don't think you can, they don't bother with options. That's the impression I got, anyway.

Been seeing this vet for 15 plus years. They are always kind and go out of there way to help your pets. I had to leave my dog overnight for a few nights because she wasn't doing well. They gave her an exam room to hang out in (which I'm sure was a strain on their everyday operations) at no cost to me, just to make sure she was ok. And gave me the ability to come in and visit with her when I was able. A few years later when it came time to put her down (at their new location) they made things as easy as they could be, called me when her ashes were ready to pick up. They put her ashes in a beautiful wood box and took her footprint to give me as well.
Long story short, these people care, they cared then, and they care now about my new dog. They will not try to talk you into pointless tests, they will give you payment plans for things that require it. This is the best Vet in the area hands down. You are doing yourself and your pets a disservice if you do not bring them here. Every day they have their patients names written on a chalkboard. They are so good. Please please please bring your pets here. Amazing staff, amazing Doctors. All around good people that want the best for your pets.

All our pets have gone to SODO. Dr. Patino and the staff are basically family. So so so great with animals. One of our fur babies had a medical emergency in the middle of the night and we had to make the hardest decision at an Emergency vet. The ER vet contacted SODO and SODO immediately contacted us to deliver their sympathies. They were as heartbroken as we were. Little things like that are why we’ve been with them since they were just a little operation as Kirkpatrick. We love them. ?

Generally I have had decent service from this provider but I’ve had a few issues recently which has warranted a review:
1) Upon a recent visit my records were somehow merged with another persons records with similar name (last name the same, first name different) but different address and phone number.
2) Upon a different visit I requested a flea and tick medicine as well as a checkup for an ear infection. After visiting I had to call to clarify the directions on the medicine. The labeled instructions were incorrect. I also had to re-ask for flea and tick meds to which they responded they would send the script on Monday. They forgot again. I called again and got a script. 2 meds were written both labeled flea and tick prevention so I called to clarify if both were needed. The receptionist indicated they were but the provider never spoke about 2 meds. I asked for a call back. They never called me back. This was a couple of weeks ago.
As I mentioned previously, I’ve had decent service from this provider with other pets. It just seems like we have deviated from that level of service recently. I hope to see improvement for other pet parents but I hate to vie for callbacks. They will get a 3 star rating from me. I think this level of service qualifies as middle of the pack.

This is a 100% honest review based on my experience with SODO Veterinary Hospital. I originally had over 16 pages typed up but decided that a play-by-play wasn't absolutely necessary.
To put it simply, Dr Jose Ortiz saved my dogs life! After a couple weeks of bringing her here and there, medications, xrays, emergency vet visit etc I was getting beyond frustrated. Dr Ortiz took all the same information I had been repeating for weeks and in less than 5 minutes he had a theory, tested it, and had a plan of action to save her. Had I not been so persistent she wouldn't have made it another day without Dr Ortiz, to whom I am eternally grateful for! Also, Sharon is an incredible asset to their hospital and I hope everyone has the opportunity to have her in the room with them. Dave is also wonderful as he was very empathethic and sympathetic during the entire time. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my experience here. After years of feeling like I would never be able to find a vet I trusted, I can confidently say I have found them. My only wish is that everyone had access to this type of care for the furry companions. Their passion for what they do gives me hope for the future and thank you so much for saving my best friends life!

I love this place! I have been coming here for the past two years. The entire staff is kind and patient with me and all my questions. The Drs have been the best. I have an older cat with health issues and the Drs have taken the best care of her and never recommended products or treatments that she hasn't absolutely needed. I tell everyone to come here! They will treat your pets just like their own.

I would leave no stars if I could! This place is horrible, they left my dog to die! They gave their apologies and said sorry we were busy and couldn't give the care my dog needed! That is basically like seeing a human dying and saying oh sorry we're busy we let them die! DON'T BRING YOUR DOG HERE!

We took our cat here due to an infection. They got us in by the next day and were so kind and knowledgeable. I am considering switching to them with my other 9 animals ♥️I highly recommend them!

The staff have a way of making everyone comfortable. My dog loves them all and she doesn't like most people.
