There was a couple minor issues we had but when we brought it to their attention, they acted swiftly and corrected the mistake. Our install crew worked efficiently and Wes the install manager handled everything wonderfully. Thank you for our lovely closets!

Crew was good. Called before arrival. Arrived within the time range agreed. Closet was assembled nicely. Cleaned new closet and broomed floor area. I wish they could also had offered to paint areas where old closet assembly was. I had the paint. They did covered the old holes on the wall, but I wish they were prepared to touch up noticeable areas where old assembly was placed. Everything else was very good.I am sure that other customers would have same comment. Thanks

Dominique came out for a site visit to measure and sketch and was a joy to work with! She drew up a plan of exactly what we’d imagined. She was great at working within our budget and was forthcoming with ways to use our budget most efficiently. She was able to schedule an install day quicker than originally anticipated, which was much appreciated. The install team finished within a matter of a few hours on install day. We are loving our custom closet. So happy to get rid of our old wire shelves and now have an area that feels luxurious.

Installer Skills Vary - Cutting Mistake Corrections Must be Paid by CustomerWe hired Closets by Design (C.B.D.) as the Sales Design Consultant, Dominique, was easy to work with and able to meet our design request. Paper was used to design the project which was “old school” compared to competitors that used laser measurements and 3D modeling and showcased the design on their computer screens, I mention this as multiple measurement points taken that differed from the paper method which I believe contributed to cutting errors by C.B.D.It took about 6 weeks for the manufacturing and install date which I considered reasonable. The job was for an L shaped walk-in pantry closet. It included the insertion of shelving and a countertop. Cost was $2089.We were happy with 90% of the work. The countertop install was unacceptable. Photos of the countertop are attached to this review which C.B.D. felt was a complete and acceptable job.Unknown to us, one wall was not square which swung out about ⅝”.The countertop was cut on site at 90° square when the carpenter knew or should have known the adjoining wall was not square. This error became irreversible as no more counter-top material existed as C.B.D. uses a 3rd party to manufacture countertops. Carlos, the install manager, will not visit job sites to assess issues, all must be done through email photos. I also learned that C.B.D. does not consider their installers to be carpenters. Had proper front/back/side measurements been taken before cutting, errors could have been prevented.Carlos advised we must pay for a new countertop and this time they will create a template. They are not responsible to check for squareness as the contract states “The units installed by Closets by Design are guaranteed to be installed level and plumb. C.B.D. is not responsible for gaps or out of level walls and floors.” My argument was, there was no attempt to check before cutting, a basic duty of any job. C.B.D. disagreed. After several discussions, we had to pay an additional $366 to correct the cutting mistake. Family and friends that were shown the job believed us to be idiots for paying the extra costs, but the alternative was to accept the finished botched job or to litigate. We just wanted it properly finished. It took 2 additional trips to get the counter installed. The replacement countertop was manufactured totally wrong. This time we were not subjected to more costs and it was re-cut correctly. The subsequent installers upon seeing the bad job were guarded with their comments but all agreed to the substantial flaw and could only apologize that we were subjected to extra costs. The subsequent installers were top notch in their assessment and honesty. If Closets by Design were to be hired, be very involved in the measuring process and ensure the measurements are agreed upon in the contract. There is give and take for imperfections on shelving but not for counter-tops as manufactured elsewhere. Their best skilled installer should be insisted upon for countertops. We are happy with the final product, just disappointed in some skill levels and their policy to penalize the customer for cutting errors which they believe to be the customer’s fault.

Great experience with designer (Suzzy) and installation (Caesar/Jose)!!!Suzzy helped me incorporate everything on my wish list and the drawings were a perfect visual. Installation went well except for one permanent shelf — installer asked me where I wanted shelf instead of referring to the drawing. I was a bit stressed and took a guess, so now I need it adjusted (as per drawing).Lastly, I highly recommend reviewing all of the options available thoroughly (even if you don’t think you want them). This was my first time doing a closet so I didn’t fully understand the difference between the finished closet bases (with floor imperfections) versus adding the base molding to hide floor imperfections. I am having the base molding added after the fact to get the perfect completed look.Regardless, this was still a great experience with everyone involved and I highly recommend this company!! Will definitely use them again ?
