I am not a member of this gym but cone here weekly for one of my Zumba classes. I come directly to a room specifically for the class. I will say that the staff is very friendly & helpful whenever I have interacted with them. The gym itself seems to be clean. However the ladies room/locker room/shower should be renovated . Everything looks old! Since I haven't personally used the equipment in the rest of the gym, I cannot comment.

This is the best gym in Florida!I absolutely love the staff,truly amazing people that really care about their clients.I've been going there for 8 years and there's no other gym that beats it!

Zoo is a cool, independent gym that has an old school body building vibe with some great modern amenities.This is not a corporate gym - the owner works out there, trains clients there and is almost always on site. If you have a complaint, you can just walk up and tell him. You'll often see the owner working on improvements and maintenance to keep the gym looking good.Zoo has a mix of older (but well maintained) equipment and brand new machines as well. There is a 100 yard section of turf for running down the middle of the gym flanked by sections for boxing, martial arts, gymastics and cardio.One of the best bits of this gym are the trainers. Zoo charges a very reasonable fee for their trainers. The trainers are almost all professional body builders who are able to tailor workouts for people regardless of where they are in their fitness journey.Zoo's membership fees are slightly higher than the budget chain gyms like Crunch and a little less than places like LA Fitness. The value for money is good - Zoo is a huge, locally owned, well maintained gym with friendly staff. Definitely worth a few bucks more than the chains.

Everything was great untilI tried cancelling. I have left several messages no one calls back. Finally last Saturday someone answered the phone was going to leave a message for the owner. I am expected to leave work early to cancel because the owner leaves at 4 Monday thru Friday. I’m still waiting for a call back. DO NOT JOIN

Definitely an old school gym. Very cool vibe. I just wish the cardio equipment was more up to date and not faulty. Other than that it's great

I moved to Fort Lauderdale almost 5 years ago and im mad that I didnt join this gym sooner. Unlike LA, the dumbbells are exactly where they’re supposed to be and the vibe is just great. They have just about every piece of equipment you will ever need and the gym is always clean and the other members and staff are always respectful. Out of all the gyms in Fort Lauderdale, I wouldn’t recommend any of them over this one

I moved into the area from Sarasota in 2021 and have enjoyed the recent upgrades the owner has invested in this facility. It was fine before but with the added expansion and the new state of the art equipment, the only excuse for not getting fit, rests on you! I especially love the new Speed training "self-propelled" treadmills they added. I used to be a runner, but at age 67, I had to give it up due to the impact on my bulging discs from standard treadmills. Its's unbelievably comfortable to walk or jog on and do spurts of interval cardio to maximize fat burning. Due to the concave tread shape and ergonomic design of this equipment, I am back running 3-5 miles with ZERO back pain. It has really been a game changer in my cardio workouts and the fluff is disappearing. If you are looking for a comprehensive gym with open space to be creative with your workout from free weight areas to mega machines, group classes and personal training, this gym is for you. Too many health clubs barely have space for flexibility exercises which just sets your body up for mobility/back issues and sends a message that stretching has no value; so untrue!!! Every health club has an energy vibration, and the Zoo is a high energy environment where members are friendly, dedicated, supportive and non-judgmental. You won't find people here with their head down texting on machines- go to the purple place if you want that. Looking to get fit and not just look the part? Try The Zoo at 1427 E Commerical Blvd, Oakland Park. You won't be disappointed! FIVE STARS *****

The gym offers a lot of space to workout. It’s very motivating to be here. The machines are new and functioning. Even can use Active and Fit Direct.

I wished I would have come here a long time ago. This is a true, serious gym. Not a “health club” like LA Fitness or Planet Fitness. Lots of equipment, friendly staff and overall a great gym!

NOT RECOMMENDING IT ! STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS SEEKING FOR A SPACE TO JUST WORKOUT because It literally turned out to be a “daycare” or a playground for kids. It’s a shame ! I’ve been coming here with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now , and at night the Boxing Camp composed of really young kids and teenagers had spread out to the Gym, equipment’s occupying the entire space. And I’m talking about a lot of them. And we had brought this to the management’s / owners attention however it looks like the “Boxing Lady” is now in charge, because the owner obviously is only doing all political on us, in other words doesn’t give a Flying F. So we’re just going to take our business somewhere else. NOT WORTH .

Ignore the 2 star reviews. Place is completely fine unless you're a snowflake and want to complain about the small stuff. I owe a gym and I came here on vacation. Has everything you need. Everything I used and saw worked fine. Some equipment is aged but that's the beauty of the equipment. Some of the older equipment is much better than the new school stuff anyways.
