They order animals that mpst people should not own without a ton of experience, they keep their feeder mice and rats in terrible conditions, using bedding that is toxic for them. They dont take care of the fish, leaving many dead fish in the tank, they pay their employees an embarrassingly low amount of momey and the place is always under staffed at most locations.

Red Carpet Service!!!Just wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to the Manager Emma. As my first time in Pet Supermarket I approached Emma and ask her several questions about starting a fish tank for my son. She was very supportive, her patience with my family and I were far beyond my expectations. When other employees would disappear, she was right there answering every question I had. She is a big veteran supporter, calm, her customer service was far beyond this world, most importantly she listen to us the entire time. Because of her, by trial and error my son’s tank is doing great. Emma educated us on the importance of keeping a well kept tank. She was very knowledgeable about all her products in the store and gave us key information on the longevity of the fish. I would recommend everyone near and far if you have a pet to stop in this store and ask for her. She is the best without a doubt. Emma should definitely be running her own store. Give her a raise and anything else she ask for. I will definitely be a returning customer. No other pet store can compare. She is a great asset to your team. You will not receive her level of this customer service anywhere nowadays. Thank you Emma!!!

I stopped by over the weekend. I noticed they had a pac man frog which needs a moist enclosure in dry pine bedding. That isnt fair to the animal. I will not be going back to this store

Don't get a small chewing animal and try to drive it to your house nearby, it will chew out of the paper box and you will not get a refund without a body. You will smell it though. Also, when I was there to try to replace our hampster that didn't make it, a gerbil was birthing babies. I asked to be put on waiting list but was told they dont do that and it woukd be months before the babies were ready. A few days later I went back to see if the hampsters were restocked and brought a kritter keeper of my own. I was upset to see there was a note asking people to sign up for the waitlist and babies to be released this month. When I told an associate about the issues I've had with the broken Katee cage, the bad boxing of our hampster and the bad return policy then the experience with the gerbils seemed like a bad dream. Myself and fiance heard them whispering about me and even he said he didn't think my name was added to the waitlist.
Came back and the gerbils were available but still bonded to mom and I did not want to separate so we got 2 dwarf hampsters. The lady with long hair and tattoos who was nasty the last time was there and was nasty again. I wasn't even talking to her, I was in line and she rolled her eyes when I spoke. I addressed her and reminded her she was rude the last time and she said we never spoke. So she must be rude to so many people she doesn't remember. I will have to get her name for corporate. I see others have similar complaints.

My daughter has had her leopard gecko, Zuli, for 6 years. He is part of the family ?. He recently had an impaction in his hemipene and we took him to an exotic veterinarian. He then refused to eat for the past month. My daughter even bought a $50 bag of critical care food and he wouldn’t eat.
I stopped by Pet Supermarket in North Port and asked if anyone there was familiar with reptiles. One of the employees, Adriane, suggested I try wax worms. She explained it’s like giving them a donut compared to a salad. She was so knowledgeable and helpful!
When I got home I tried giving Zuli a wax worm, and he ate it! In fact, he ate 6 of them! My heart is so happy and I’m so so thankful for her help! Thank you Adriane!

I have been buying feeder Rats from this store for 5 years. The last few times I've been in there the new manager has been very unfriendly and unwelcoming. I was told that I cannot go into the room where the rats are kept to pick one out. I've done it that way for 5 years! The way she told me was uncalled for. I'll start shopping the Venice store, they are much more friendly.

Bought 5 fish from this location one died. I called the store to ask about return policy. The young lady said as long it it was witin 7 days we could exchange. She advised us to bring the fish with a water sample. We showed up with the fish and water sample like she asked. She said oh no they need to be in separate containers. We threw the fish and water in the trash because she didnt want to help us. Total waste of time. We will stick to pet supplies. Friendlier staff and more knowledgeable. Lesson learned

I bought a Beta fish.It was dead by the next day.And when I brought the fish back to be replaced?I was informed that I needed to bring a separate water sample from the tank. Why they think I would keep that water.I'm not sure. There was no paperwork to specify any policies or rules in returning their dead pets. So I got no help as usual.
