12v auto electrician here. I brought my car in for a simple hook to scanner I didn't have at the moment, for a dme issue with alignment. The mechanics helper and mechanic(Jim) charged my vehicle at the jump point in front without the battery hooked up in the trunk for a whole day. Then they hooked up again to open the trunk. He said he couldn't find the key hole on the trunk. Durr de durr. While doing this he hooked to a point on the front that was not supposed to be hooked to in this manner. Also this is an agm battery not a regular battery. When he did this the ignition coils were melting into the head/valve cover because nowhere else for voltage to go through normal paths. Now I am out the cost of a set of ignition coils, tow fees, prob need a new valve cover, cost of time, extraction costs, and possibly ruined many other sensors and modules of this cars delicate system costing me an ENTIRE BMW. Do not trust this mechanic with any of your vehicles. He lied straight to my face about hooking the power to the vehicle then turned around and said we only did it to open trunk then his helper admits to having it hooked to power all prior day. Then when putting my car back together because I told them to back off after he handed me hot and fresh burnt half of an ignition coil. I noticed two screws missing to hold my module box to the car. When Jim was questioned he said he would ask his helper. His helper said the screws were never there. Believe me I know every single nut bolt rivet wire panel anything I touch. I had just gotten the two screws as extras from the junkyard because I dropped one of mine into the grass while repairing another issue. I had two screws w one extra and now I only have one. I'm mentioning this because it shows how petty they were being. He got mad because I didn't want him to work on the vehicle anymore and would not even provide me a receipt for the $250 he charged me to charge a battery that wasn't hooked up, tear apart my car and then decide to ask what was wrong with it, lose my screws, call me a liar and melt my ignition coils that had no problem o begin with. The car was running and driving before I unhooked the battery drained power then took dme ivm and vvt modules out to replace the cable under them. There was nothing to mess up as the modules have plugs that only go into 1 spot 1 way and there was no damage to any wires as they verified themselves against my will. He wanted everything to be cool before I left and I said it was but it wasn't. Now I find the damage they did on top of my other can bus communication issue, was way more severe than I realized at the time. They said they fixed an ecm error but that was only because the system wasn't seeing full power until they finally hooked up the battery after getting trunk open by switch. It would have done that normally if correct procedure was followed because I had just charged the battery up with agm battery charger day before taking him the car. I left it unhooked because the car will drain voltage sitting and I wanted it to be fresh for diag. Now the battery won't take a full charge. That's gonna cost me another 250 if it's on its way out now. If he decides to fix his mistake I will take this post down. I hate to even leave this review but this buisness just ate into my pocket really bad and they didn't own up to their mistake and were downright petty about it. Then had the nerve to say I was offending them by picking apart how they did things. To repair now will be thousands. Wow. Just wow. A.S.E. cert obviously means nothing anymore. I was referred here. And the person that told me about him also can confirm he will buy the most expensive part to try and make more on his markups of what he charges customer. He even admitted this right to my face this was how he keeps his help paid. Most expensive part does not mean it's the best part in my 25 years of experience. I also had him press a wheel bearing in. The bearing was loose when he gave it to me but not when I gave it to hi

Jim is a gem- I was at a loss as to where to take my ‘75 Ford F-100 and several places told me they couldn’t work on it. He took his time diagnosing and methodically fixing issues and I feel he was fair with pricing. They kept me updated along the way as to what was going on and what the investment was going to be. He even did an exterior detail for me before I picked her up. I like that he is a one man operation with a sustainable pace. No overly busy shop who rushes you in and out, a true family business. I won’t go anywhere else from now on!

Came here because our friend Recommended him. He charged us over $100 to make our van worse. There was an issue with just the speedometer & now there's an alarm constantly going off in the van AND we can never get it to start even with a jump. I complained to our friend Who recommended him and our friend said "oh yeah he did me right the first time but then he completely ruined my car too the second time i went to him." Don't trust this place.

Jim took on a big job to replace the main seals for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, that not many shops in the area wanted to work on. He did a great job, for a reasonable price and now... no more leaking oil! I would definitely recommend him - he's an honest and effective mechanic!

Everyone knows going to the mechanic is like going to the dentist, its always somewhat painful. But at Coverdales you can count on Jim being a true Christian and not making you pay for something that doesn't need or isn't worth fixing. Again, im not saying that he's a saint, just a good dependable mechanic
