At 1st I was feeling a little targeted when she asked my 22yr old son for ID while im at the register ordering the Hennessey behind her. He didnt have anything in his hands. Nor did I yet. Thought she was picking because she didnt like black people. Some people do that to try and passively aggressively pick. I told her he is 22 & my youngest of 6 and oldest is 34. It broke the ice when she saw our ID and said neither of us look our ages. Anyway. The place is awsome. Clean. Organized and a showpiece. Love it..

I shop the ABC in New Smyrna Beach quite often, and I've never experienced any level of racism or bigotry.
As a as a African American myself, I find it quite surprising that when people are asked for their identification in a 21 year or older environment, they immediately jump to a racial issue. It appears to be the go-to for people who break the rules.
What's worse is, how people conflate stories that in turn makes it worse for us to move forward as a population.
I'm a parent as well I always share the rules of the environment I take my minor children into and then hold their hand when they need guidance, so is not to cause confusion for workers or my child.
This is always been an upbeat environment, I would only hope that people continue to shop there without a bias from those who give this store a bad review.
I'm hoping that one day there will be a Google reviews for parenting.

My son, who is a minor, and I went into the store and only made it past the door before a lady named Elaine decided to be racist. She stopped me to ask for my ID, which I gladly gave it to her because I seen she had a table set up with bottles and thought she was trying to offer samples but NOPE. Racist Elaine wanted to discipline me and my son based off appearance. She turned to my child and told him he couldn’t ask for anything or touch anything. I asked her what he would be asking for in a liquor store? It was very clear what she was doing, so I turned around and walked out with my child. I saw 2 white people walking in that looked young, so I doubled back to see if she would ask for their ID, and she didn’t. They were able to walk right past her. The manager, Jamie, saw everything came out and told me I was able to shop. I explained what had happened, and she stated I was ID and stopped because I stopped at the table and I looked young. I corrected her and told her no I was actually STOPPED by Racist Elaine. I live in his city and own property in this city and shouldn’t be judged and treated differently because of my skin color. We didn't need to be educated on how we should shop in the store.
I called to express to Jamie how Elaine made me and my child feel. She understood, agreed Elaine shouldn't have acted that way, apologized, and offered a free bottle of wine. I declined. I just wanted to be a paying customer like everyone else. That was my first time ever going to the store and will be my last. I felt so uncomfortable and not only that Racist Elaine introduced my son to something he had never seen before, which was racism first hand.

OMG, it was like I died and went to liquor heaven! The place is huge, has an amazing selection of beer wine, mixers, even a section for cheese! Has an area for the higher end wines and wine tasting. And, a walk-in humidor! Yes! They sell snacks too. A one-stop shop. Can we get one in philly??? Please????

Revised review, it was unfortunate experience. We went through at ABC liquor at the local store however, corporate headquarters reached out and sent a gift card and an apology to cover the cost of the broken bottle. Thank you very much for following through with the customer service you would expect from a great company.
Remember double bag or box it!!!!!
Be aware the cheap plastic bags do not hold a 175 makers Mark. The bag handle tore and the $50 bottle of makers Mark bourbon was shattered. When I called the store to ask then what they could do I was told me to come in and talk to the store manager and they would “take care of things”? So I drove all the way back the next day with photos and the receipt And the store manager told me there’s nothing you can do!!!
Be warned cheap bags and disappointment in the way this was handed! The also commented it has happened before!!!

ABC has several stores in our area. They are well stocked and laid out. Prices are fair and notably lower than in NY State, but that’s a Florida thing. I could find most of the ingredients I needed to make the dozen or so cocktails I like to make, and they have a decent craft beer selection as well. You’ll find a Buffalo Trace product occasionally, but these are allocated, so it’s a matter of luck to find some.Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. When I’m near one of these stores I’ll try to stop in to see what’s there. You should too!

Just wish they built this place with a different type of roof. Get absolutely no service in there whatsoever the stock dudes aren’t that friendly at all but the cashiers are awesome.
