I brought my jeep in for a free diagnosis and was told the garage does not work on jeeps. I replaced the part suggested,and the AC was still dysfunctional. I doubt the system was properly diagnosed. Obviously, it was misdiagnosed because I changed the part, and it didn’t resolve the issue. If auto cooling was my expertise, and I was soft in diagnosis, I would take the time to sharpen up on my skills so that my knowledge was honed in on every aspect of my chosen trade. Most people do not abide by this philosophy, and this is my anguish. Having the epiphany that writing these reviews has become a cathartic experience will encourage me to participate regularly.

Excellent place. I couldn’t be more happy with the experience I had. He was quick, thorough and had my 2017 Suburban back to me same day. I highly recommend this shop. We took it for AC problems, turned out to be the condenser coils, he had it completely fixed in a few hours. Well done, and thank you.

Chuck took care of me and my 2013 Kia Sportage. His prices were ever so slightly higher than Dan's Auto Air, but Chuck's service experience is much better. He is able to look at the car that day and was able to get me up and running the next day. He also gives you a 1 year warranty for his work. And when you pick up the car, he shows you your old auto parts, which i thought was a nice "bonus" to his service.

Well, I just got back from Hughes. Boy am I glad I went! Chuck was going to have me leave the car, but when I asked if it would be ok if I hung out while I arranged for a ride home, he decided to check it then and there. 15 minutes later and a replaced faulty relay, and the AC is working great! He also complimented me on my taste in music (I had the 60's channel on satellite radio playing)!

Dropped my car off with complaints of intermittent cooling. Received a call 45 minutes later explaining that I was low on radiator coolant and that when the engine overheats it shuts off the A/C. When I picked up car it was 'no charge' and he refused some cash I offered! Wow! Honest, competent and fast service!!!

Chuck at Hughes Auto Air in Mayport . . . provides the honesty, expertise, and service you just cannot find nowadays.
As you read through the 95% overwhelmingly positive reviews here, you'll find just a handful stating anything contrary. These are merely a reflection of the occasional misunderstanding . . . given the man's utter refusal to participate in any nonsense or time-wasting.
He just wants to get you in, get you fixed, and get you on your way at a tremendous savings. He's proven that time and time again to his loyal and grateful customers.
Chuck is an expert in automotive AC repair and gives everyone who comes to his place of biz a "more than fair" deal on any work that needs to take place. If he can fix it for free, he will.
Ask around, ask anyone.
Expect to drop your car in the morning and pay cash for services rendered. Enjoy it while it lasts because this is the last shop of it's kind and reminiscent of a long gone era.
I'm glad I know about this place and you will be too. We're in Florida after all!
