Was informed by at the Nikki at that the Milton USPS Store has no affiliation with UPS and therefore and with no phone number on account, request a Photo ID and refused service.

Today, I bring back an Amazon item that has its own very nice box. Very sturdy. Amazon frequently slaps a label on item boxes and sends it as is. Only fair to send it back that way. But this ups suddenly says "no, it has to have an outside box". I've had Amazon slap a label on a product's plastic BAG and send it to me with no box, no outside bag, etc, but, whatever. Annoying, but not the end of the world bc I've got a dozen boxes in my trunk for this very thing. I go back outside in 96 degree heat and find one box large enough to hold the manufacturers box and bring it back in. Nope, this one won't work bc now, they tell me, Amazon requires a "manufactured shipping box with a special stamp on the bottom". I say you've never required this before. They bring out laminated sheets to show me a picture of this required stamp. Guess what? My new box I retrieved doesn't have it, but - surprise! - they sell the right box for $7.95. They assure me many times that it's a brand new Amazon requirement, but when I balk, they tell me I can go to the Pace ups and they will take it "as is". Frustrated, I go back to my car in the blazing heat and finally find a box with that stupid stamp. A box is a box is a box, right? Whatever. My problem is, no "sorry for the inconvenience". That goes a LONG WAY. I have to remove the item from its manufacturing box just to get it to fit in the stamped box. This harms Amazon, because now it's no longer in it's original box, but it saves me from driving home in 96 degree heat to search for the box with the stamp they want. I DUMP the item out into the "stamped" box, then hand it over. All good. Finally. Then I get home and start to think about it. If it's an Amazon rule, why can the Pace ups send it without the stamp?? I call up and ask. Evidently, this store ranks at the very bottom for Amazon rerturns. So, she tells me, their boss has the bright idea to only accept Amazon returns in a stamped box, and if you don't have one, you have to pay $8 for one from them. Incidentally, that's the same amount you'd have to pay to SHIP it BACK if you didn't have free Amazon shipping to begin with. It seems to me like they've enacted this ridiculous rule to make money off people. Does Amazon pay them less because they are ranked last in the area for Amazon returns? What would cause Amazon to rate them dead last in the region? Could forcing a stamped box on their customers truly fix this problem? Or is this just a money grab to make up for the fact that Amazon probably charges them a fee for having such bad returns? I've read that they lose a lot of returns from this site, but perhaps they are crushing the boxes, too? I mean, it hardly makes sense. But forcing people to buy an $8 box to increase your bottom line? Now THAT makes perfect sense. As it is, I told them to pass it on to their boss that, whether or not this solves Amazon's problems with his store, it certainly will cause new problems bc people will be very upset that they either have to save every Amazon shipping box they EVER get, in case they need to return the item in a "stamped box" (which apparently, Amazon uses these boxes a good portion of the time, but they also ship with no box, so that's a serious problem if you need to return it and never got a stamped box in the first place with which to do so), or they will have to pay MILTON UPS $8 for a "stamped box", or the customer will have to drive all the way home and dig through their trash to find the kind of box they demand you send things back in. I think if Amazon knew they were doing this, they would lose their rating even more, if there was anywhere lower for their rating to go.

So, I was up here a few weeks ago returning an Amazon package and they wouldn't take it without a box. My bad, I thought it was "no box, no label", and I was mistaken. My issue then was a prior customer had left a box behind that they had in the trash, and the manager wouldn't let me have it. She wanted to charge me $7.95 to buy a new one. Uh-uh. No way. Whatever happened to being nice? And no understanding words like, "I'm sorry but store policy says I can't give you our trash, but I would help if I could". Just - "no you can't have it". End of. A little decency goes a long way. It was made worse by the fact that, at first, one nice employee said I could use it, then another woman stormed out and said "no, you have to buy one". And she was really rude about it, too. So i left.
Went to the clothing store next door who gave me a pile of free boxes and I put them in my trunk JUST FOR future dealings with this ups store. I had to buy tape, which was $6, but no way was I buying their $8 box.

I often visit this store for Amazon returns and always have a great experience. The staff is so friendly and I never have to wait longer than just a few minutes. I choose this location over one nearby because of this.
