I paid Dan at Talquin Septic $525 in June 2022 to do a septic inspection and pump out for a house I was buying. I was told it was all done and cleared inspection.In August 2022, when the house was purchased, I didn't see where he had inspected it. I wasn't even sure where the septic tank was as there was no sign of freshly dug up dirt to see where he was working. We figured he must have used a camera or some other, less invasive way to inspect.Fast forward to this week (January 2024.) I had a septic problem. Called Dan and he immediately (within 10 minutes!) sent someone out. We were pleased with the response time, but disappointed to learn that the septic tank and drain field were full of roots and that it hadn't been pumped out in June like we paid for. The drain field was covered in decades old azaleas and there is no way that he wouldn't have noticed that. Because of the root issues with the septic and the drain field, we were quoted $7,000 to replace both.Now we know that he didn't inspect or pump out the system in 2022, but he still took our $525. My husband emailed Dan to ask for an explanation days ago and has not received a reply.If we knew the state of the septic tank, we might not have even purchased this house, as $7,000 for a new system (which supposedly passed inspection in June 2022) isn't in our budget.I usually bite my tongue when it comes to small businesses and bad reviews, but I believe that we were scammed. We will never do business with Talquin Septic again.

Great service on septic cleanout. Called on a Friday and they squeezed me into their busy schedule on the following Monday. Left the digging area exactly as they found it. I would highly recommend.

Owner, Dan, conducted himself very unprofessionally and provided sub-standard customer service after I spent hundreds of dollars for service to my septic tank. After I inquired why he did not follow-through on two instances of providing an estimate on what his company suggested as additional service needed and providing a product that he said he was going to provide, he became defensive and hung up the phone without finishing the conversation. In addition, when I called again, he stated he did not care to have my business and was "OK" if his business' phone never rang again. This was absolutely unacceptable and demonstrates that customers are not a priority for this company. I am definitely taking my business elsewhere.
