My go-to Publix in Edgewater
I've been shopping at this Publix for 2 years and it's always been my go-to grocery store. The staff is friendly and helpful, the store is always clean and well-stocked, and the prices are reasonable. I especially love their deli and bakery departments, which always have a wide variety of delicious options to choose from.

On May 8th, I visited this neighborhood Publix to pick up a sub sandwich for my early dinner.
Aggravated, but DEFINITELY NOT SURPRISED, the sandwhich station was literally tailing down the main walkway aisle with customers waiting in line for 35-45 minutes to place their order.
This occurrence is every day, all day, at THIS Publix location.
It's clear to see, one of the main reasons it takes 35-45 minutes to place a order HERE, is because their sandwich station is only half the service size of other locations... a two-attendant maximum capacity.
Finally, after a solid 38 minutes of waiting in line, it was *MY* turn to order.
The Deli Attendant that was servicing me, was a middle-aged Black man who appeared weary... and in some degree of physical pain.
Out of pity, I stood there in a brief silence waiting for him to momentarily collect himself for yet, ANOTHER back-to-back sandwich order... I wondered had he even taken a shift break yet(?)
Only using direct eye contact body language to acknowledge my customer presence, and indicate he was now available to take my order, I simply told him, "The Italian on multi-grain, foot long".
At that point, he pointed to the bread container atop of the sandwich station to show me there were only mixed-matched pieces of multi-grain bread remaining.
(For some reason, this specific bread always run out of stock before the day is over?)
This happens so often, I've "caught on" to the Bakery Department selling the same single bread loaves used by the Deli Department for sandwiches.
I adjacently sprinted 6 yards over to the Bakery Department to retrieve a single multi-grain loaf, but, they too, were also out of stock.
I sprinted BACK to the Deli Department to take my current place in line.
Dissatisfied, the mixed-match pieces of multi-grain bread would have to do this time.
Once it came to my sandwich contents, I asked for "heavy" spinach, but, was immediately told they were out of spinach.
Simply, a bag of spinach from the Produce Department would've easily appeased both me, and following customers.
But, ONCE AGAIN, I found myself settling for less, and lettuce... It Was.
It wasn't until I literally had to repeat, "Yes, the multi-grain In THERE" 3 Times, that it became evident this Deli Attendant wasn't familiar with the English language.
And because of certain recognized cultural traits, I was able to then determine he was Haitian, and likely only spoke Kreyol... which, I Could NOT.
I tried using the most-effective universal form of communication with POINTING at what I wanted, instead of speaking... Failed.
I tried using PITCHING in vocal volume, instead of my indoor voice... Failed.
I tried using PACING in speech rate, instead of my natural flow... Failed.
The language barrier became so intolerable, I actually had to ask his neighboring co-workers in the department to help assist... but, they actually choose to turn both a blind eye, and a deaf ear to my calling.
The Deli Attendant working along side him was a teen-adult Black female who found our entire situation laughable... not at all concerned enough to help assist.
And while she could physically pass for a 25-30 year old adult, her lack of sensibility and maturity made it obvious she was barely experienced in even early adulthood.
Watching him grievously *TRY* to build my sandwich, I'd say whatever physical pain he was experiencing at the time, was causing him to be unfocused and irritable.
Eventually, after a whole 6-8 minute struggle of pointing, repeating and cringing, m
