Such a difficult experience. First vehicle we were given was in very poor condition with warning lights on. Needed service and had to be returned. Lost a couple hours in the process. No staff in the return center at MIA. Got charged extra 189 dollars for fuel service. When we sent online customer service a copy of our receipt from filling tank they advised us to avoid this next time we need to show the attendant our receipt…….what attendant??????? Instead of fixing it, they just charged us another 189 dollars. Ugh!!!!!!I’m always the one that post positive reviews until today.

Horrible service. When I returned the car, I was charged $193 additional dollars for services I didn’t want and never authorized- $77 was for gas that I didn’t need (the truck was returned full, and that was noted on my receipt right next to the $77 charge for gas service).

There was no one at the counter. Someone told me to go to Avis because it’s the same company. I waited there 30 minutes and met a counter person. He said go back to Payless he would call the person. She came out from budget office. She never said sorry. She said she was on break.I got a key and found rental car. I rented premium suv. When I started engine I got a tire pressure warning. The tire pressure was 18. I went up to the Payless again. Nobody was there. I waited for a while and she came out of the budget office. It was July 29th around 4:30pm. If any management person see this, check your video camera. I spent almost 2 hours just because there was no one, and she was taking break at Budget. Why don’t you guys just close Payless in Miami??

Do not rent from this company no matter how good the rate is. They change the terms on the agreement, and if you have pre-paid, you either have to go along with it or loose you money. No customer service to speak of - owned by Budget who pretends they are not affiliated. They wanted a $250.00 deposit (booking agreement only required $200 and then refused to let me use my debit card, and wouldn't let my husband use his credit card.) Eventually we got it worked out, but it delayed or vacation for a couple our hours and was very stressful. Go elsewhere.

The rental company I had originally made a reservation with, well let’s just say it was a disaster. So, this was last minute and they got me rollin’ within 30 minutes of reserving a vehicle. Needless to say I was at Miami International, prime summer so cars are pretty scarce around this time of year.

One of the best car rental i ever had. Very easy pickup and drop off. No hidden fees. Unlike other car rental companies, I could use my own insurance. Nobody forces you to buy their own insurance.

Our first car developed a low tire warning the day after picking it up at the Miami airport. I put air into the tire, but it continued to leak out slowly so I was not comfortable taking a chance of getting a flat tire since I was going to be driving a lot. I called the roadside assistance line and was told my only option was to return my vehicle (which I found, later on at the gas, had the from bumper held on with zip ties) and exchange it for another one. My wife and I took it to the Orlando airport which at around 8 pm was very quiet. After returning the vehicle to terminal C, we were told to go downstairs and see an agent for an exchange. Upon going to the rental area, we were told that Payless did not have any agents at Terminal C so they directed us to Terminal B. Since we could no longer use the original vehicle, we had to walk very far to the tram and then ride it to terminal B. When we arrived at terminal B and made the long trip to the counter area, it took a while before we found an agent. The agent who helped us at Terminal B was very nice and did his best to help us. He informed us that they did not have any vehicles in the same class as the one we rented and that all of those vehicles were in Terminal A. Since we had told him our story about the long trek to Terminal B, he arranged for us to get a car from Avis at Terminal B. Getting the replacement vehicle went pretty smoothly and we thought that we were on our way. Within 5 minutes of leaving the pick-up area, the second vehicle wound up with a low tire pressure warning. Since we had not left the airport, we circled around and went back to the drop-off area at Terminal A. Once there, it took about 20 minutes before someone came to check this vehicle in Since I could not do the exchange until this happened, we just had to sit around and wait. Once we checked in the second vehicle, we went to the Avis counter which was located right where we dropped off the car, but they were unwilling to help us out. We were to going to have to go all the way back into the main terminal and see a payless agent. After another long trek, we got to the counter where the same agent from Terminal B was there. He couldn't believe that we had another problem and that no one else would help us. He got us another car, but was unable to complete the exchange because he needed a supervisor. He didn't want to make us wait any longer so he gave us the location of our new car. Upon trying to exit the garage, we could not get past the security gate because the car was not officially assigned to us. The checkout agent finished the process and finally we were on our way back to our Hotel. Over 3 hours, not including the time to drive to and from the airport seems a little excessive to exchange a car.

The car had so much problems and the wheel fully froze then we called and they couldn't even cancel it through the phone they took they car away and made us go all the way to the airport even tho me my sister and mom were sick a bit and we didn't even eat but they made us go for we can cancel the reservation very bad I do not recommend

We left booking a car until the last minute and was having a nightmare, but we found Sandra and she was fantastic. Very helpful. She upgraded us and couldn’t do enough for us. You definitely deserve a pay rise. We looked for you this year but we couldn’t find you so we went to Avis and saw your colleague Alain who was just as nice as you. ?

Avis rental employee had to handle reservation due to sign at Payless to go to Avis. Employee was on Bluetooth call while helping us complaining about having to handle Payless reservations. Assigned a car that was not there once we got all the way to the parking lot so I had to go all the way back into the rental counter to get a new car assigned… lot attendant customer service said they couldn’t help me. It’s not a small airport so going all the way back inside after a long travel day was frustrating. Signage in the parking garage to find Payless cars was terrible and signage to get into the ramp to return the car was even worse (MIA airports fault, no necessarily Payless). The car was nice, remained of the experience was not good.

The vehicle was good. But by any chance, if you doubt that you may need an extension of the rental, don’t go with Payless. They charge you whatever. Also there are so many hidden charges.

Pros: the car was nice, new, and clean.no line, fast check out.People at the lot were helpful and friendly.Cons: When we got our final bill we had $86 of additional fees for services we had not agreed to beforehand, including some kind of gas convenience fee (we filled up before returning) and an egregiously large flat fee for tolls.Note: FL is full of toll roads. Make sure you discuss with Payless (and any rental company) in advance how you are going to pay for them.I classify these as scammy additions because it took one very quick phone call to get those charges removed, which to me seems like they stick additional charges on and see if you notice.Not recommended, or, if you use them, ask more questions and review the paperwork more closely than we did.
