I had a very different understanding of dog training. I thought it would be a simple process, the dog trainer trains and the dog learns. I was wrong. I eventually learned that dog training is actually "human" training that develops communication skills and patience between the dog and its owners. We had a very positive experience with Katie. Her expertise, skills, empathy, and candid approach to training made the difference between a good and great experience. The skills and awareness of our dog's needs along with our expectations and responsibilities really helped us have a better relationship with our dog during the training. It also made it clear that dogs need owners who have been trained. Our experience with Katie was a meaningful and powerful experience. This was a completely worthwhile investment in our dog and in our family. I give her the highest recommendation.

My experience with Katie was more than I hope for. She is truly dedicated to her clients. If you are willing to do the work you will be successful. She has a very compassionate approach to change your behavior that will change your dog's behavior. I highly recommend her services. You will not be disappointed.

Greatest pet sitter!!! I’ve never felt more at ease leaving my puppies home. We have three dogs, which in itself can be a lot, but they also take an array of medications. I got detailed reports of every visit with lots of pictures, and the dogs looked so relaxed and I could see they had so much fun. They even brought a birthday present for one of my dogs who’s birthday was while we were away. I couldn’t be happier with Dances with dogs and highly recommend them

We have been using Dances with Dogs for a few years now and leaving our little one home alone has always been difficult but knowing that Dances with Dogs are always going to be there for our little guy with love and hugs, and the best is the pictures they send on every visit and that is a nice touch. Dances with Dogs is top notch we highly recommend them.

I found Dances With Dogs and gave them a call because of all the great reviews I read! Katie was so amazing from our first phone call, she gave me so much advise with no hesitation and even told me to text her if I had any more questions or if I needed more help before our first initial session. Phoebe joined our family at 4 months old, she was scared of everything, had a lot of anxiety, and would not walk on a leash. Katie was our life saver she is AMAZING. so patient, so helpful and extremely professional. Phoebe learned so many commands and so quickly. Our sessions were like therapy for me because of all the great advise that she gave me. Everything I implanted worked! Phoebe is a completely different dog and we have Katie to thank! I am forever grateful! I recommend Dances with Dogs to any person looking for a loving, knowledgeable and professional trainer with 1,000% results!!!

Katie is incredible and so knowledgeable. In just a few sessions my dog and I both learned so much from her— I feel like I took a university course!! I have an entirely new appreciation for dog behavior/psychology too. I can’t recommend her enough for training for anybody with a new puppy or working on problem behaviors. I am a huge fan of her positive/force-free approach. Thank you, Katie!!

As a combat veteran I was given a German Shepherd from a K 9 blood line at 4 weeks. Sara and Dances with dogs are absolutely amazing and I'm shocked on how much my dog has learned including myself. I would recommend their services to anyone. They truly know what their doing and are very good. If they can train a 9 month 65 pound German Shepard with no previous training in just 3 hours; they can train your dog too!!!!!!! They are worth every penny they charge.

I found Dances with Dogs while I was looking for a dog trainer in my area. After a nerve-wrecking incident between my leashed dog and another off leash dog in my area during a walk, I knew I needed help immediately. Katie was kind enough to answer my call right away and pencil me in within the week. As soon as Katie met my dog she was so kind and patient with my very active and excitable Aussie/Border Collie, Jules. Katie gave me great tips for all of my behavioral concerns.. not just for my dog but for myself as well. There were a lot of adjustments I needed to make! I’m looking very forward to practicing everything she taught us, and I feel more peace of mind going on walks in the future knowing how to safely control and handle different situations. Thank you Katie!

When we were searching for a trainer, we were a bit skeptical of the process. We didn't know who to trust or which training would be the best. When we found Dances with Dogs we met Katie and she changed our lives forever. Katie made us look at our pup and at ourselves to change the environment and behavior around our pet to help him be in a calmer environment which lead to the amazing results we got which was a complete change in our dogs behavior in the best of ways. He went from not having any experience in listening to following directions. The training we all received from Katie helped us help our dog as owners and how to understand our dog better, all with positive reinforcement, which we loved! At the beginning, our dog was reactive due to fear but Katie's training fostered the trust we have in each other to grow and made our connection stronger by understanding our dog's fear and reactions better. Training was a safe space to patiently learn. We learned something new in every training session we had. Our dog became more in tune with us and so did we with our dog. We both want to thank Katie for her amazing work, she truly has changed our lives forever. We are very grateful for everything she has done for our dog and us. Our dog is now doing so much better! We are all so very proud of our pup. We now have the tools to keep growing and continue reinforcing everything we learned thanks to Katie. If you or a loved one need any help with your dog, this is the place to do it. Katie is the most kindest and caring human being, a true professional, very responsible, hard working and dedicated. Mia from Dances with Dogs was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t be happier. The No force positive training was the best way to train my dog and learned two commands on the first day. We’ve taken a series of lessons and in 3 weeks my dog has learned so many commands and in such a positive teaching technique. I have nothing but anything positive to say including the first call with Katie, the owner who so professional and responded right away and lucky to have Mia who was so amazing as my trainer. This was a great training experience and I highly recommend.

A well trained dog is only successful if the human consistently trains even after the training over. I chose Katie because of her experience and she was recommended from another highly recommended trainer. She helped us with the following: 1. Anxiety. Does not have seperation anxiety but anxiety to people, other dogs, and unfamilar object or sounds. - POST TRAINING: He is less anxious. Training tips help to divert his anxiety. 2. Aggressive Resourcing with things like fabric softener. - POST TRAINING: Still resource but minus the aggressive and able to give up the resouce without teeth. 3. Excessive nipping sometimes breaking the skin. - POST TRAINING: Learned to avoid and redirect reasons for the nipping. 4. Barking excessively at non-threatening sounds in the house or when someone visits. (Knock at door) - POST TRAINING: Bark are less and shorter and inside voice. Still in works with combination of methods. It was the last lesson of the training that would take the longest to learn. 5. Walking on leash without the need to rush home. - POST TRAINING: No longer pulling to get home. 6. Understanding his needs and ways to keep him challenge. - POST TRAINING: Happier dog and pet owner. Katie is a wonderful trainer. She will tell you exactly what your doing wrong. Tell you what most likely your dog’s behavior means. Gives plenty of tips, tricks, suggestions and video/detail hand outs. She is patient and knowledgable. If she doesn’t know in the moment how something should be approach. She will find mutiple ways or combining commands or methods to get the desired end result. She’s open ears and listens to you. You (pet owner) also need to be open to force free positive redirecting training. It’s different than other types of dog training I’ve been through and glad a choice this method. I HiGHLy recommend Katie 100%.
