Excellent place to find anything you need for your repairs, remodeling or fixing at home or business. People very kind and helpful. The most amazing thing is the whole store is shining of great clean. Everything is in place and very organized. I gave my compliments to the manager last time I was there. Setting as my new hardware supplier now that I moved close to 41th Street.

This our long standing neighborhood hardware store which has had an ownership change - unfortunately the prices that are posted are less than the prices they are charging. Today I purchased two duracel batteries that didn’t match The new owners response was that customers move the items around to the wrong location to create a mismatch - but I took pics of the batteries to show them the lower posted prices. The difference was almost twice the posted price with the bar code in view. So buyer beware - the Ace on Alton is a far better choice.

I visited this hardware store this morning to purchase a lightbulb for a ceiling lamp. When I asked the cashier where I could find the lightbulbs she pointed "down the hall." No one offered to help. As I was returning to pay, I asked one of the men if I had picked out the correct size and he said no. He then said to me, "get out of the way" in a really nasty tone. He came back and handed me another box and when I looked at it he yelled, "it is correct." I handed the cashier the old lightbulb and asked her if she could dispose of it. He then told her in Spanish, "next time tell her she can take out her own garbage." I will never visit the store again. That is no way to treat anyone, let alone a client.

There's an employee there who, after a bit of small talk, found out my ethnic background. Now every time I go there he just refers to me by the name of a popular food dish of said ethnicity. Literally just screams out the food dish when I walk in and acts like it's my name. I mean it was kind of funny the first 8 times but it's starting to feel almost... offensive now? I dont know. I'd definitely be shopping elsewhere if if wasn't so close to the jobsite I was working at. I can only be referred to as a type filipino peanut stew so many times.

Service is truly excellent, prices seem high. I live in the neighborhood and appreciate the convenience of being able to walk to a hardware store that stocks most of what I need. And I realize the stuff I need has to get into the store somehow. Still, almost every morning before 6:30 AM, their little forklift truck spends 20-30 minutes unloading and it's the first thing I hear every single day and I think I'm losing my mind over it. It's Saturday and I've been listening to this unloading happen since 6:24 AM. I live one street over and I can hear it from my bedroom, even with my white noise machine. This is a public plea for help from the management (I wanted to email them but no email address on website.) Saturday, 6/20 update from 6:39 AM: forklift has been buzzing away at jet plane volumes for at least 15 minutes now!

This has got to be the ultimate downside in Ace hardware. Be forewarned. They will never accept any returns. It's too bad because it's in a great location. I Purchased an item, and had to bring it back approximately 15 minutes later. The clerk insisted that I hadn't bought it there. Even when I showed her the receipt she argued with me. I threw it in the trash walked out I'll never be back.

This place needs serious help. They have great stuff and Benjamin Moore paint which I love (paint department guys are great as are people who help you in the aisles) but the cash register people are so untrained. First they didn't know how to do a return and issue a store credit, then it took forever to get it done at another register, then when I go to pay at the first register the woman says we don't accept those gift cards (particularly hilarious since I had just gotten it issued to me at their other register 5 minutes prior). Their credit card machine doesn't work properly either and the clerk was lamenting about it endlessly. Not sure why they don't just replace it instead of making the transaction take twice as long as it needs to.

Very friendly and helpful staff, definitely good inventory, but a bit pricey.. guess you have to expect that from a small shop on the beach though! Also, If you have mobility concerns, you may find the narrow aisles difficult to navigate.

Oh, what a convenience to pretty much have everything you need, right in the neighborhood!
