Old school abrasive NY hospitality. Bring something back after a repair with any concern or questions for the jeweler and prepare for a defensive attitude in return. I wish they had a sign on the door suggesting that if you are middle class or below with middle class or below jewelry or watches they would prefer you go elsewhere. That’s the feeling I was left with.“ this is a cheap watch, we don’t guarantee …………” after letting them know condensation is in the watch since the gasket and battery were changed by them.

Called to get an estimate on the cost of getting a rope chain repaired. Was yelled at and hung up on thirty seconds later. Super weird.

Had my wedding ring resized two weeks ago. Noticed that it was now thinner and mentioned to owner. He INSISTED that they NEVER thin bands and yet now it’s broken!! I’ve had the ring for TWENTY-FIVE YEARS—I think I’d know if it’s thinner and no way you can deny that it’s now in need of repair!

I politely called to inquire about a service. It was a yes or no question but the lady who answered the phone laughed instead. Classless.

My family has been going to Lee Alper and now his son Neal for over 40 years. Knowledgeable and helpful with all jewelry repairs as well as appraisals. Trust them completely

Absolutely horrified! I took my watch to them and the jeweler told me in a confrontational tone it was broken, then handed it back to me with one of the pins missing! I was shocked how aggressive he was, refusing to let me speak. He demanded that I pay him in order to replace the pin that he broke. He then told me he would fix it but I should never come back again! As I left he screamed at me, reprimanding me like a child! I think this guy was emotionally and mentally unhinged. I had every right to expect my watch to be returned to me in the same condition that I gave it to him. I encourage any would-be patron to think long and hard about giving Lee Alper & Son Jewelers your time, energy and money. I am truly grateful for the service Yelp provides: I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere.

Truly a hidden gem to find your favorite lifetime pieces. The Jeweler is a true artist who handpicks each piece and travels around America gathering one of a kind jewelry and also creates his own pieces. So if you're looking for slick modern store, this is not for you. If you are looking for honest decent quality, then take your time and go to this unique jewelry store for that special jewel.

"Don't make em like they used to" It was refreshing dealing with a Jewelry store that knew what they were doing as opposed to a Costco or huge retailer that isnt able to gift personalized service. I spoke with Violet who was very helpful and knowledgable about gemstones. Would recommend for repairs.

Miami Beach This is my second review of this store, but mysteriously, my first review has been removed. Make of this (the following) what you will: -A very uninviting first experience -having everything to do with staff attitude-here more than a year ago, and a recently posted review that reflected that. -A second chance, and very good experience here in attitude, price and workmanship; hours later on the same day I posted the negative review. --after a nice experience I planned to update the first review... But... - when I tried to update my review, suddenly I was unable to log into YELP using the same sign-in that I'd not only used for many years, but had also used to write the slightly negative review. - The store had my phone# to call me when repairs were completed and I'd picked up my nicely repaired items less than a week later. -because the store had my phone #, and I'd posted my review under my real name, the store owners started calling me repeatedly (days after I picked up my repairs) to complain to me about my posted (negative) review on YELP (again, the review had been posted on same day as my more recent positive visit, but hours before I had even considered giving them a 2nd try for service.) - After weeks of no response from YELP about (coincidental?) log-in difficulties, I eventually signed up on YELP as new user, only to discover that... -my recently posted negative review regarding an acknowledged year old bad experience at this store had been removed from the site. -My desire to update the review with a report on my very positive 2nd visit here was tainted by the many calls to me from the store owners in which they complained about my YELP review concerning a prior experience. It was confrontational of them to have called me -at all- about the review, which was affirmed by their tone of voice in their messages. Will I use this store again? Not likely. I felt bullied by them for what was a completely accurate review. I can understand them wanting an update to reflect my more recent and positive experience, but the manner in which they went about this seems all wrong. To what extent Yelp assisted them I don't know. All I know for sure is that my review had been posted and it has also been removed.
