I can not say enough about Medi-Share. Having a diagnosis of Prostate cancer was bad enough. Medi-share helped walk me through the entire process and after surgery and proton therapy, which they did cover. I am cancer free. Thank you Medi-share and my care team

WARNING: DO NOT USE MEDISHARE! Use a normal insurance company or Samaritans Ministry. Take all of the one-star reviews you read here seriously.UPDATE: After over 5 months of trying to speak with someone with authority at medishare and after having to physically go down to their Colorado Springs office, I finally received a call from the "operations manager." After a long conversation where she over-used the terms "legal" and "unable" she essentially told me what everyone else at medishare has been telling me for the last 5 months - "there is nothing we can do...you should have just paid the hospital bill in cash rather than submitting to medishare." Now we owe $5600 rather than $3600.I live in Colorado Springs in close proximity to Medi-share, a "Christian Organization." In July, I had a $3600 ER bill so I contacted Medi-share to see if they would cover any of the bill. They said yes, and so we submitted the bill. When we received the updated ER bill with our insurance payment deducted from the total - they took $2000 off of the hospital's "INSURANCE RATE" amount - $8000. So now instead of a $3600 bill we have a $6000 bill. Nobody at Medi-share is willing to help us - they just say their hands are tied. We've been trying to figure this out for 4 months now and Medi-share is doing nothing to help us - they are actually saying that "we should have asked the hospital what their cash rate was upfront" - ummmm what hospital tells you the cash rate for the four different doctors we saw that day, the ultrasound imaging and interpretation, and the procedures performed? NO ER/HOSPITAL DOES THIS! I am a local provider here in Colorado Springs and I will be telling my patients to stay clear of this corrupt company. Not a Christ-like company. Incredibly disappointed and actually embarrassed for this company when I see how they treated my family and I and when I read the reviews of the many other people who have experienced similar difficulties with this company.

We were associated with Medi-Share for over three years. During that time we "shared" over $15,000 but received $0.00 coverage! Not only that, the most basic of routine care is not covered, and because I happen to have migraines and high cholesterol(controlled with a statin), I was apparently not covered for a variety of possible health conditions though I have had these issues for many years with no complications, and I was also required to pay a higher premium. I paid for all of my own medical care PLUS Medi-Share. This has been an expensive learning experience, and I wish I had realized sooner that there is cheaper and better coverage available through the healthcare marketplace.

I was with Medi-Share since 2019. Only one year did we have enough expenses to actually benefit from the program. That same year I was billed from the hospital for some part of the whole situation that I believed should have been covered by Medi-Share. They did not pay it and said it was the patients expense. When I spoke to the hospital they said it’s my expense. Nothing was explained to me that in actuality Medi-Share should have notified me that they were trying to have the hospital cover the expense since the hospital has funds for non insured individuals for this particular scenario. After over ten phone calls on different days over the months and months this drew on I had to pay the bill. By the time I even received the bill it was almost a year or so after the situation occurred. Shortly after back and forths since I passed the one year mark to be able to try to have Medi-Share do anything about it they just said it’s too late.I let that scenario go. Then today I called to be removed from the program and they are telling me I still need to pay next months premium even though I already have coverage elsewhere and want out they refuse to honor the request. This was the nail in the coffin. I’ve faithfully paid for four years and used their help once and they want to force a bill on me.I don’t recommend this sharing network for all. If you are positive you will need extra help every year go for it but their monthly premiums are getting very high and when you need them to act as a Christian, and take care of their fellow Christians, it seems it’s too hard to do for them.May God help shine light on the organization so they can see their short comings clearly as with all these one stars show.

Well this is a little late but I am now dealing with a medical bill right now that happened in 2021 and the office just told me I owe some $300 for an annual exam as medi-share denied payment and that’s why took so long. I was paying a lot each month and every time I went to doctors I then had to still pay a lot. To me this insurance is not worth it and has caused stress! Monthly rate is fine, not great and that’s why 2 stars. Regular annual exams cost me on average $184-290 each time. Which they state at the beginning that as a women you get your annual, ob, and Mammogram.

UPDATE TO BELOW:Only after I left a review did I receive a call. They "investigated the situation." After I made it very clear that we were not doing anything illegal, no ticket was issued, no citation, warning of any kind, they then said it was because he was on "public road," which is not in their guidelines anywhere. After 2 more rounds of push back, I have conceded and canceled my membership with this terrible organization. They claim to be a Christian organization that shares one another's burdens. After this experience, it is clear they are just a another entity doing anything they can to maximize profits by refusing to protect their member. Get real insurance.ORIGINAL POST:Unfortunately, after nearly 10 years as members, we will be forced to leave Medi-Share. When they say they are not insurance, believe them. I'll give a full experience for the good and bad.As a member since 2016, 2022 was the first year I ever had enough medical bills to use my Medi-Share benefits, and for the most part, it did work out. There were several incidents they did not cover from a volleyball ankle injury, but it was a small enough amount that I didn't worry too much.Howevever, this year I learned my lesson. My kids were involved in an ATV accident earlier this year. My son was driving the vehicle as a 14 year old which is the LEGAL age in Texas. My son has had many safety courses and understands the dangers.During this accident, both of my children were injured resulting in significant ER and ambulance bills.Medi-Share has now deemed my bills "ineligible for sharing" per their guidelines. Their guidelines state in an auto accident, accidents will not be covered if the operator is under the age suggested by the manufacturer age OR state law. Not AND - OR.Knowing that my son was legal age in our state, I truly believed that we were not operating outside of any guidelines. This decision has left me incredibly exposed with more than $20,000 in medical bills they will not cover. What's worse is that I've been told I can appeal. After 3+ attempts to contact the person in charge of this, I have not received so much as na email in return.I have contributed $70K - $80K towards others' medical bills over the last 8 years and now when I'm in need, they have abandoned me. Not even a phone call back. Also, be sure to research the providers. Due to Medishare's unwillingness or delinquency in paying, many providers no longer accept them. I called FIVE doctors from their supposed "provider list" to get my husband a doctor's appointment and NOT ONE said they will take Medi-Share. Call your doctor before deciding to join. You might be surprised.I wanted to option to work out for my family as we are self-employed. I believed it would for years. Unfortunately, that was only my ignorance in being healthy and unharmed. I'm so disappointed.

This is a scam. The entire operation is a scam.My daughter had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance. When I submitted the bill, they paid half and then just didn't pay the other half and told me that it had been negotiated to $0 for my responsibility. As it turns out, they had not negotiated anything, they just only paid half of the bill and expected the ambulance company to discount the rest, which they did/will not. So when I get a bill for the remaining $1,400, I submit it to Medi-share and they tell me that I'm past the date to dispute their process and there's nothing they can do. I told them there was nothing to dispute because I had been told by Medi-share that I had a $0 responsibility. I've talked to everyone possible and they all tell me that it was definitely an oversight on their part, but there's nothing they can do. So I'm stuck paying $1,400 due to their mistake. So far this year, I've submitted about $7,000 in bills and they have paid $800. So this is a SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Have been with them for about 6+ years now only out of necessity if an emergency arises with a major accident or cancer. In our 6+ years they have rarely covered anything if anything at all. It’s been so discouraging. Yes, you can get a low monthly payment (with a high “household portion” and yes the people you talk with are Christians and will pray over you BUT the company at large will not help with bills. And to top it off EVERY medical or healthcare office/practice I visit frowns when I say I have Medi-Share because MediShare doesn’t pay them. MediShare thinks they have a deal with them and those offices are suppose to give us discounts (not the deal those practitioners made with you MediShare) but there is a huge miscommunication between Medi-Share and the practitioners. I now just call myself “cash paying” and I get a better rate than if I say I’m with MediShare and they try to bill them. I have SO much to share about this “program”. I will post more on this review later to share who this program might be good for (basically those who don’t go to the doctor or birth with a midwife at a birthing center…but watch out if you have a life threatening delivery that you have no control over and have to go to the hospital) and who (the majority) this is not good for. To you, MediShare, I know you’ll respond so please just send this to the man/woman upstairs. I’d like a face to face meeting with you. Your system is not working. You’ve got to make changes. There is a major discrepancy or miscommunication between you and your “clients” and you and your providers. I am a real person who has tried desperately to make your “ program” work for us and help our family in great times of need and you weren’t there. Get into the hard of the healthcare world with us real people trying to use this Christian program to provide for our families. Get raw, real feedback to improve this program. We know you have to make money but aren’t you also suppose to SHARE it. I am praying God provides other insurance for us because you have failed helping our family. As well as MANY others I have talked to. I can name a dozen friends who have left MediShare or are about to. It’s no longer MediShare to us but NadaShare. (I’ll add more to this review later regarding pregnancy, delivery and postpartum.)

As a physician, I decided to go with Medi-share instead of traditional insurance and as I am in private practice, I do understand the difference. My family is blessed to be able to contribute and so far, have not needed any coverage. I was actually excited to see and care for a patient in my new practice who had met their family contribution, reached out to Medi-share for notification of the recommended procedure. I was informed that as our office is out of network, payment would be based on the medicare allowable rate.I would not complain about paying only the medicare rate if payment was timely. As a small practice, I find it completely unacceptable to wait over 30 days for payment of services, but unfortunately that is common business practice traditional insurance to delay payment for one excuse of another. I expect an organization advertising Christian values to act better. It has almost been three months since I provided care and the claim is still "in process." I will be dropping Medishare for my family and no longer submitting claims in my practice for their members.

I have had Medi-Share for just over a year. My savings in premiums alone has been substantial. We do not have major medical issues thus far so most bills are maintenance. Customer service has been good for us as well.

Pros: We saved on our monthly healthcare costs for years using this program.Cons: When we needed them, it was nothing but a bureaucratic headache and the hospital where my wife sought oncology treatment would not bill through Medishare. That's telling! The insurance company I switched to is easier to deal with. In fact, I have not even had to deal with them! Nor has my wife. On the other hand, my wife, who is battling stage 4 lung cancer, has spent innumerable hours on the phone simply trying to get Medishare to cover what they say they are going to cover! We went to the hospital in our town, it's literally 15-20 minutes away and suddenly our care was "out-of-network". It's absolutely preposterous. Our local hospital should not be out-of-network. Medishare is saving a few grand while my wife is dying. Then there's the deductible Medishare is dragging their feet on reimbursing that we paid for our primary insurance coverage during the month overlap where we had Medishare as our secondary coverage. Never mind the fact that the customer service representative told us they could process the reimbursement with the information my wife had already provided, but they preferred for us to send the EOB from our primary insurance company. I just got a circular email asking me to send the Medishare EOB for this treatment that shows a need for the other EOB. This wasn't billed to Medishare! Again, all of this bureaucratic headache is costing me and my wife precious time away from our 4 children as she fights stage 4 lung cancer. To the poor employee who has to respond to this post, please don't give me some generic number or ask me to talk to you via Facebook messenger. Have someone that knows what they are doing and has authority to do something contact me.It seems like many of the recent review here are very poor. That's telling. If you're looking for an alternative to normal health insurance, THIS IS NOT IT! KEEP LOOKING!

Switched from Blue Cross which saved me an amazing amount of money and without sacrificing services. Additionally, I appreciate the prayers of the employees and others who also use Medi-Share. I’ve recommended it to dozens of friends.

Medi-Share takes their prayer very seriously. They are always asking what to pray for you and your family. They also pay their share of the medical bills very readily. If only certain medical providers could cooperate better.

I am very happy with medishare. Ive had several medical procedures and was pleased with the coverage. Im 63 and retired, so am too young for medicare and the rates for regular medical insurance are outrageous. Id recommend Medishare to my friends and family :)

I am very disappointed. I do not have any health issues and I am not on regular medication for blood pressure, diabetes, or anything like that. I was supposedly getting the discount for being healthy but as soon as I turned 50 it stopped. My plan says $0 for telehealth appointments and my Dr is in network. Every time I have one there is always a balance that I have to pay. I did verify that my Dr e billing it correctly. I went to the dermatologist and had to have 2 black freckles removed. My office copay was $35. Then I received a bill for $1,300 and then a second bill for almost $200. I have tried several times to call and speak to someone to explain to me why things that are supposed to be covered aren't being covered. I literally can't even speak to a human being. I even sent an email and they can't make out going calls. That's fine but they didn't even tell me how to speak to someone or even give me an extension. I am currently looking for something else. I will not recommend this to anyone.
