Definitely still open. Nice place to browse and shop. Definitely a hardware store. Also part thrift shop, part used hardware (lots of them) and part antiques. Well worth a stop. But BUYER BEWARE. He sold me an old tin box as authentic that was actually a reproduction. Thinking back on it, he knew at the time based on his somewhat evasive answer when I asked him if it was a reproduction. My bad for not picking up on it at the time, but his bad for the deception.

One of the few remaining independent old time Hardware Merchants left, Russo's Hardware is an eclectic bit of nostalgia. Russo and Sons have saved me a trip into town so many times by carrying the oddest assortment of items I think I've ever seen in a hardware store, and more often than not they have had what I was after. However, even when they didn't it was worth the visit anyway. Aside from the basic plumbing and electrical, nuts and bolts, and gloves and wheelbarrows, you'd expect, they also tend to have those hard to find old items you might be trying to replace. There is also a bit of the strange and unusual, and even various used items and tools at a bargain. Whichever of the Russo brothers happens to be working, and even if your only spending a buck or two, you'll find yourself feeling welcome, waited on with genuine interest in your project, and most likely involved in the current topic of conversation with Russo and the local regulars. I sincerely hope the Russo's plan on keeping this unique place around for many years to come.
