Store front with little atmosphere. The description of the food on the menu did not match the food brought out. I ordered one beef taco. It was described as beef with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo. I received a greasy soft flour tortilla flat with shredded beef and cilantro. No lettuce and or cheese or pico. We had six people in our party. They brought one small basket of chips and one small bowl of salsa. We ordered two orders of guacamole and one order of queso dip. They did not give us any more chips until we asked. Then they charged us $6 for the second basket of chips. Stay away.

From what we could tell there are three Mexican restaurants near Marathon. One was closed on Sunday. We tried to go to the one that appears to be a tiki bar and food truck. Nobody there but the tv was on. We decided to try this one even though the reviews weren't great. We were very glad we did. The servers were very nice and the food was great. I had the pork Al Pastor. It was a little different than I had before I'm a burrito but it was great. My wives chicken burrito was also very good. Give them a try

The skirt steak was cooked the way I ordered it, medium rare. Rice and beans were pretty good. The red salsa in the little bottle was very spicy and very good flavor.

Did take out. 2 burritos and nachos. Was excellent. The red sauce they gave is actually spicy too which is an automatic 5 stars for me

Good location close to the hotel. Not a fan of the guacamole. Too much pico and no avocado chunks. Same for the ceviche. All pico and no action. Prices on the menu are not accurate. Cold dish was not served completely cold. Tres leches was both unique and very tasty. Server forgot sour cream.

Hidden gem in Marathon, great Mexican food, reasonable prices.

Really, really good food. Good value too. Even with the elevated standards in this area. The small details make this great: the greens and thinly sliced carrots and onions on the tostada. The really good (and relatively mild) pickled jalapenos, homemade. Now that El Molcajete has online ordering for carry-out, I keep doing this just after docking the boat at the end of a long day. Order is ready by the time I get situated and at the restaurant.Vegetarian options: Restaurant responded that their refried beans are vegetarian. Plenty of things with beans, cheese, tortillas for the vegetarians. Makes this an easy choice for the varied palates in our family.Kid-friendliness: Good kid options, can recommend the kids quesadilla.

Exactly what you would expect from a little Mexican restaurant, salsa was spicy, food was prepared great, waitress was very nice. I got 1 taco each of pork, chicken, and fish. Tasted fresh, served very simply. I would for sure go back if I had a meal on my own or with friends and family. Piña colada tasted fresh. We had a very good meal here.

Drinks sacked. Service was garbage. No one check on us at all. After food was brought to table. They added gratuity to a check with 4 people. Definitely do not recommend at all!!

Food was decent. Service was slow. But it looked like it was busy for them. Key colony was cool looking.

Stay away. I really had higher hopes for Mexican Food in the Keys. The Queso tasted like it was from a can. Food was cold and dry. Waitress acted strange.

Really good Mexican food, but crowded and service may slow to a frustrating pace. Still, I would recommend. Very popular with the local contractors.

I've been living in the United States for over three decades, and the food is truly authentic with a rich flavor. If you want to try something original and authentic, this is the place. The prices are reasonable, and the food, though a bit spicy, should be enjoyable for those who like a bit of heat.
