About Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Taxpayer Assistance Center
The IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center operates by appointment only, which must be scheduled by phone, often with busy lines and no confirmation message or mail. The center at 201 S Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801, is the new location, replacing the old one with no additional signage or information left behind. Visitors are advised to wear masks and maintain social distance, and to reschedule if feeling unwell. Reviews reflect mixed experiences. Some visitors received helpful, friendly service from staff like Officer Austin, who explained processes calmly and even shared jokes to ease the wait, and specialist Mr. Francisco, who was efficient and pleasant. One reviewer appreciated Ms. Weist, who listened carefully and took the initiative to solve a problem despite outdated technology, highlighting her helpfulness. However, other reviews criticize the staff as incompetent, dishonest, and neglectful, claiming many employees lack the tools or motivation to do their jobs properly. One reviewer expressed frustration with the system’s errors and fees, describing government employment as overly cushy and inefficient. There are also humorous reviews mentioning no signs about skateboarding or demon possession, emphasizing the no-tampering rules and seriousness of the IRS environment. Overall, the center offers necessary services but experiences vary widely depending on staff interactions.
