I rented a U haul and dont get me wrong it was good. The only fault that I had with them is that when I got the U haul it was half way full. I didnt take a picture to show that they vehicle they promised to me was not full nor did I let it be known, which is a is something I take responsibility for because I put myself out of $40 as a result. Take a picture of the mileage and gas needle just in case what they told you about the U haul isnt what you expected or make sure u let it be known before you go. Also I put money into the gas tank and I still got charged damn near an arm for the gas portion of my payment.

I had no issues at all renting or turning-in a vehicle at this location. Stafd was solid and my after-hours turn-in went smoothly through the website. The lot was also large enough in case someone needed to park in an area and not having the experience of turning around a large vehicle. Will definitely rent from them in the future.

So we're off to a bad start being made to wait while the guy finished working on and parking a trailer. He walks into the office and sets up behind the desk - there are approximately 7 people in the room - the ONLY one NOT wearing a face covering was the guy working there - asked him why he wasn't wearing one - he said he was but it was "down there" - points to a drawer. No mask = no brain IMO

My parents and I rented vehicles through the Berkeley U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer twice. Once in 2016 when I was buying furniture from IKEA that was too big for my car and moving apartments from Berkeley to Albany. And a second time in 2019 when moving from California back to Washington State. The first vehicle we rented was the cargo van. That vehicle didn't have problems with driving and worked well for moving furniture and between apartments. The second time we rented a 15 foot truck. It wasn't completely fueled up when we picked it up and the truck didn't have an auxiliary port unlike when we had checked in advance and there was one. Just something to keep in mind day of, the trucks may vary a little. The biggest problem we ran into however was that the car shuddered when driving and the brakes were jittery. The move back to Washington State was already stressful and having a truck we were not sure would hold up over the mountains passes was not reassuring and added to the stress of the drive. The brakes stopped being as big of an issues once over the mountain passes. Towards the end of the drive the tires started having some problems. On a normal flat drive these things would not have been as big of a negative, but we were two cars making our way over the winding mountain roads at night. Semi-trucks regular to this route were plentiful and consistently pushing 80 miles an hour. Being on the highway cut off from my dad (driving the U-Haul), I was driving a Toyota Corolla, with both of us being surrounded by semi-trucks on three sides from different companies that have decided they want to try and pass each other is not a comforting situation. Added to that the continuous concern about whether the U-Haul's brakes would give out on one of the turns made for a very stressful drive. In addition, radio signal was not great in the mountains passes and there was no auxiliary port to connect a device to and play music through to help stay awake and alert. Under normal conditions these little details may not have been a big deal, but that night it intensified an already stressful situation. One of the good things about the truck was that is was a little shorter than the semi-trucks and the lights on the front of the vehicle had different spacing than those on the semi-trucks. This meant by watching my mirrors I was eventually able to spot my dad and reconnect to drive caravan style. Signing of paperwork and walking through vehicle inspection can be long, but it didn't take too long here. The service was friendly and efficient both times we came here.

My husband and I have done business with Upholds for several years. Honest, hard working family business. Great service.

Having rented from this place for my move into the neighborhood and again for a pickup for a large Home Depot run, the online booking, pickup/drop off and billing both times was simple and smooth and I will happily go back the next time I am in need of a large vehicle. Moving sucks and is stressful which leads a lot of these places to have bad reviews (also unlikely to say anything if everything goes to plan). Maybe what makes this a five star experience is walking across the street for a beer at Gilman Brewing after but that's just me.

I went online and reserved truck a week in advance. I was then called within hour of pickup time to say they sold out of truck and where I could go to get a truck from someone else. The place they sent me, Doherty's Truck rental, was great. They also told me the other location has stopped renting trucks at all. Which means they are taking false reservations, holding them until day of rental and then trying to switch you to other business. Dishonest and Stupid. I did call UHaul and the inventory manager was supposed to get back to me, but never did.

The service was slow. We were given a truck with broken glass in the back. It was empty of gas and we were reimbursed for filling the tank at a rate that is less than what gas costs.

Don't trust them. They gave me a truck that stunk like cow manure. Someone had obviously transported cattle in it. There is no way they didn't know. It made my furniture and other belongings stink. Called customer service to complain and they never even bothered to call me back.

Truly bad business. We reserved a small truck a week ago, but the day prior to our move, they called us and said the trucks were sold out, and that we would have to drive to somewhere 30 mins away to get a truck we wanted. No explanation, just kept saying "nothing we can do". Isn't the whole point of making a reservation that they can "reserve" the truck for us? Coordinate in advance with other stores? I really just don't understand their business logic. They failed us so hard and added tremendous pressure to an already stressful moving day.
