Horrible experience with this company they were extremely racist towards my African American friends and even called them a racial slur and they said “ blacks are all the same “ I could not believe my ears when they said these hurtful statements the fish was rotten and they spit in my order of grouper fillets and I also watched one worker scratch his bottom and then prepared someone’s food DO NOT GO HERE IM FILING A REPORT WITH THE LOCAL POLICE please don’t make the same mistake I did my whole family and all my friends experienced similar behavior from these horrible people and they will deny any wrong doing WORST SERVICE AND STAFF IN THIS AREA

This is my first time at Don’s Dock Seafood Market and must say I’m quite impressed with the cleanliness of the market and the freshness of fish which of course is fresh caught daily. The staff is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable and very professional. This is my new fish market as I will definitely be back.

Pretty disappointing this was going to be our second purchase from the seafood market. We went there at 8:15 on a Sunday morning and two people were out there reading newspapers they were employees. She asked us what are you interested in before we even got to the door and I said fish; her response was well we’re not ready yet. It’ll be another hour and a half.

What a great experience! The staff were very accommodating to warming the stone crab slightly (yes I know they’re supposed to be eaten cold). We enjoyed pounding those little buggers and eating them in the back by the docks. Such a great gem we stumbled upon.

We have been going to Dons Dock for years. Just recently we learned that Hubbard's Marina bought Dons Dock so that they could park their fishing boats there, but they told me the last time I was in their that the fish market would stay the same just new people running it. I was very sad today when I went in there and there was only 1 $200 Fish on Ice and nothing in the coolers. 1 Fish Really? Such a shame since this was the go to fish market if you lived anywhere near Johns Pass. Mr. Hubbard if you are listening. Please manage what is happening to our local quality fish market.

Very friendly staff but the stone crab were bad. Out of 10 purchased most were old and the meat was dark. I also purchased shrimp and they were old as well. I would’ve called and complained but they knew they sold me old claws. Before we left the store the salesman mentioned something about the gases they put off. I should’ve turned right around and gave them back. No fresh fish will ever have an ammonia smell to them. So disappointed!! Would not recommend.

Love this market! We've recommended this market to all our friends. This is a wonderful seafood market. Fresh fish, great variety and they clean the fish for us per our requirements. We drive over an hour to buy our fish from Don's dock. The freshness of the fish and the service provided by the staff here makes the drive worth it! We do call ahead to find out the catch of the day and they are always honest, pleasant and answer all questions with no rush.I love birds, Pelicans especially! So its a bonus to watch these birds interact with the staff while they clean the fish.

Lovely experience at Dons Dock last weekend. They helped me get my haul of fish sent back home. Despite their best efforts to save me money I had them ship it home at quite the premium but they did a great job and my fillets made it home and in the freezer before all my flights made it home.I also had a lovely conversation about how they will ship fresh fish to your doorstep throughout the year so I can enjoy fresh fish even when I’m not in Florida fishing. And bonus - I got to have a lovely conversation with a woman about parenting, consistency, and expectation setting. I love connecting with real people like this who are good at what they do and genuinely care to help people. I’ll be a longtime customer of Dons dock and hope to use them for a charter fishing experience one of these times too.

*Unresolved* Fishing vessel 629983 Jules is owned by Matthew Joswig and Jason Delacruz who also owns Wild Seafood Co and is docked at Don’s Dock in Madeira Beach, Florida. Jules is captained by Frank Woodson and uses the method of long lining to catch grouper, snapper and tile fish. All grouper, American red snapper and tile fish require individual fishing quota (IFQ) as well as a federal fishing permit to catch them. Long lining vessel Jules owns a federal permit and IFQ for these species except American red snapper. If a vessel does not own the IFQ it can lease it to still be able to fish for these species. I was a mate on the Jules on a trip from Monday July 22-Wednesday August 7, 2019. The owners of the boat Matt and Jason receive a 40% cut of the catch. The food, ice, bait, fuel and the leased American red snapper quota were expenses that would be subtracted next and the rest is divided amongst the captain and crew members. After the catch was unloaded a receipt was given by Frank to the crew members. He explained that the crew would not be getting paid although the catch was worth over $20,000. The owners Matt and Jason took their 40% cut of $8,000 and there were $8,000 in expenses: food, ice, bait, fuel and leased American red snapper. Now the $4,000 left should have been divided among the captain and crew. Each crew member would get 20-30% and the rest goes to the captain; mine was 25%. Instead, Matt and Jason charged their own boat for the IFQ they already owned totaling over $5,000 which is unethical. Additionally, Matt and Jason charged us slip rent of $425 while the boat was gone for half a month and $300 for Frank’s personal finances which he was given before the trip but added in the receipt as misc charge against the crew. There are inconsistencies with Wild Seafood Co it is a dishonest business. Workers are entitled to fair wages and rights and myself and the crew on this fishing vessel were not compensated for our over 200 hours of work on the Gulf of Mexico. At first glance, Wild Seafood Co looks professional however it is the exact opposite. You will see the sustainability tag on the fish that marks where it was caught. Ask where the fair trade tag is next time your at Wild Seafood. You will not see a fair trade tag or equal wages tag. Every fish sold of over 4,200lbs after Friday August 9th the unloading date were caught by workers who were exploited. Finally, Frank Woodson the captain of fishing vessel Jules 629983 polluted the Gulf of Mexico in several forms. Despite the available trash cans around the boat Frank intentionally threw plastic, wire used from the long lining spool, old wire, old monofilament line, old gear that was retrieved was thrown back, various other plastics used in grocery packaging, styrofoam, carpet, chew tobacco cans and aluminum soda cans into the ocean. Workers rights violations and pollution should not happen anywhere. Matt and Jason also own Brickyard Fishing LLC, may be operating under that name and may have renamed the vessel in light of this instance but are still operating with the same vessel and same permit. Please do not support individuals and businesses that operate in this manner.

The place is off the hook, literally!Amazing little place, and thrilled it’s walking distance from my crib. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and knowledgeable, which alone is priceless these days. The dude answered a million questions all the way down to how to cook the fish. I ended up choosing a grouper (they have A LOT of types of grouper and snapper, I believe). They filleted it as a courtesy which I did tip them for and would encourage, as it made preparation non-existent. I took the fish home, slapped it on the grill and it was done in 20 minutes. It was delicious and I don’t even prefer white fish!In the words of The Terminator, “I’ll be back.”

This is my favorite place to get fresh fish when I’m visiting my parents down in Florida. The prices are unbeatable and the people who work there are all knowledgeable and provide great service. I love the idea of supporting a local business and eating sustainably.
