We adopted two of our best friends from this location. Their names are baby Jeff and Helsinki. They love their new home. Process was very thorough and we were interviewed to see if we were a fit. Location is filled with animal loving people and the front was very professional. Seeing so many people volunteer here brings hope.

A kitten wandered up to my rural Sumter county house. It hung around for a day and didn't seen to want to leave. Being allergic to cats I couldn't keep it but I wanted to ensure that it found a home. It ate its fill and got fresh water and the next day I loaded it into the car and drove to the Humane Society. When I arrived, I found only a few animals in neat tidy kennels with several people in the area. After a few minutes someone came over to see what I needed. I told them that I had a stray kitten and that is when they cut me off without wanting to hear any more. They said that they didn't take in stray animals and that I should take it to the county (euthanasia) animal facility just up the road when it opens in about 2 hours. Obviously, if I wanted the kitten eliminated I would have done it myself. This facility appears to me to be just for show. Designed just to attract tax-free donations, not to actually help our furry friends. What a shame.

Edit: Once I cooled off. If I could give them no stars, I would!! Do not adopt a pet from this place without being aware of some of the employees' conduct and professionalism. I should have taken heed to the reviews. Please go to any other county other than Sumter. The whole process was unprofessional and uniformitive. I paid $200 for my adoption, which is high in cost when Marion County Human Society is $120 for puppies. The office staff here lacks communication skills. I had to call and schedule my adoption appointment after being told someone would call me. In addition, I had to call to see when my new puppy was being spayed after being told that they would call me. After the adoption, the counselor texted me, week two, asking when could I bring the puppy to get his stitches removed. New information, but okay. So, I work during the week like adults do, and it was a Wednesday. The counselor was disappointed that I couldn't come earlier after such short notice. I then scheduled for Saturday after keeping my frustration in. Saturday came. I called to confirm my visit since I live in Ocala. The guy tells me that answered the phone that they have an event today elsewhere and that no one will be there. I'm like well thats good to know, so what do I need to do now. Wait, call of work, take my puppy to another vet? Those were my questions. The guy who answered the phone was offended by my questions. So he proceeded with being argumentative. This is after having a side conversation with possibly the lady at the front desk. "Well, you've had him for about a month, soo." So?? Sir, let's do some real quick. Math 4/25/2024 till 5/11/2024 is not a month. So since he decided to end the call because I told him they are unprofessional and I would tell everyone. I'll finish here.
Please treat people with respect when talking to them. Give adoptees need to know information when adopting a pet because we are only trying to give love. Get the office cleaned and organized so employees and visitors are not crammed in such a space that they can't think or hear.
The only positive thing is my new puppy, Gustavo.

We got Carmine from YOUR humane society on November 2 of last year and he has been the best addition to our family. The adoption process was quick and easy and you can tell they care for their animals. Two weeks ago Carmine celebrated his 1st birthday!! We can’t imagine our life without him.

THIS PLACE DENIED AN AUTISTIC CHILD A DOG FOR ZERO REASON! CLAIMED I HAD A ISSUE WITH MY LANDLORD APPROVAL WHICH WAS SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH! Our son has AUTISM and we were going through the process with our landlord to get an approved letter. He was going to allow us a 30lb dog for our son who has special needs/autism. We were going to get the dog certified for our son also. THANKFULLY THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PLACES TO ADOPT ANIMALS AT! THIS PLACE SERIOUSLY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!

Wouldn’t let me see any dogs but puppies. I put a foster and adoption application in and there was no follow up. Lady at desk was super super nice but behavioral lady didn’t want to help do anything. Some of the staff act like they were being put out. I have seen some of the staff with dogs at the Villages and they are much more helpful than at the home base. I ended up going to the shelter instead

We are so happy with our sweet little bundles of joy! We've renamed them to Finn and Sully. They love and get along well with their brother Otis and our cats Milly and Cassie. One big loving family! A beautiful place to adopt. Very caring employees. God blessed us from the day we walked into the Your humane Society SPCA.

I do not recommend getting an animal from here. I went yesterday got a cat that was sick and they had “no idea”.
