I can’t say enough good things about our mortgage process with First Federal - and particularly, Cathy Lucius-Dortch and Frances Simmons - which is hard because I’m a writer by trade. From the start of our loan process to closing, Cathy and Frances were a helpful asset and blessing!

Never work with this bank. It seems like other people have had the same problem. They cannot manage the escrow account which is for their protection. They failed to pay my taxes in 2017. Then they charged me the late fees. If they end up with your mortgage, do everything you can to get away from them.

I would not recommend this bank to my worst enemy. They were very difficult to work with and did not seem knowledgeable. Misapplied payments (also did not apply payments) to my loan and then claimed payments were not made on my credit report. Claimed the loan had been closed but hadn't paid my contractor in full. Anytime I called with questions, there were no answers to be found. When I refinance my home with another bank I was unable to get the necessary documents form FFBF and had to look elsewhere.

Do not use this bank!! The staff can be really nice, but that is as far as it goes. The point of a bank is to keep your money safe. They will charge you more fees than any other bank I've have ever banked with. One mess up on your part will cost you more than the bill you forgot about. They also will charge a paid bill fee. This is when a bill is scheduled to come out the same day as your paycheck goes in, and because they can hold the check, they will make sure your payment leaves just before your check goes in. This has been done many times. It has also been done the day after because "techniquely" the check hadn't posted yet due to the system and unfortunately there no way they can wave the fee. When you try to close out your account they will do anything to make you change your mind and after you have "closed" your account, somehow there was a charge that needs to be paid before the account will actually close. Bank elsewhere. Just a heads up.
