We were very excited to stay here for our first vacation in 2 years, we'd saved for 2 years. Then Tropical Storm Milton decided to be a problem so we needed to postpone. However, since we didn't cancel by October 3rd, the cancellation cost us $500.
So I will never know if this place is great or not because we will not rebook at a place that refuses to make accommodations for sever weather.
All I can say is if you plan to stay here make sure it's not during hurricane season

Located pretty much on the corner of Route 1 and Duval Street, this place is in a great location. About a 7-10 minute walk to the waterfront area and other popular bars, this area is relatively quiet at night.
From the moment you walk into the front office, you can tell this place is well managed. Everything is clean, neat, and well-appointed. Every staff member we met always daid hello and was smiling.
The building is a typical 50s motor lodge layout, with the pool in the center and the rooms surrounding it, making almost every room pool side. The rooms aren't as big as one would find in a quality hotel, but enough space to feel comfortable. Our room was pristine. Everything appeared to be in like new condition and very clean. Quality soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotion were in pump bottles, at the sink, and in the shower. Also, in the room is a full-size ironing board, a large safe, kureig coffee machine, and refrigerator.
The continental breakfast is one of the best I've seen. Bagels, breads, English muffins, Danish, muffins, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit salad, as well as fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and a variety of juices. I'm sure I'm missing something, so much food!
The on-site martini bar is small, with maybe 6 stools at a curved bar. It seems to be a popular place, as it is packed with people every evening. We did get drinks one day while lounging poolside. They were definitely worth the price.
We will definitely return here if we travel back to Key West again. It's the little things that make this place great. White tablecloths on the outdoor tables for breakfast, putting candles on all the poolside tables as dusk, and the staff. Plenty of staff, always willing to answer a question or help if they can.
Rooms: On the smaller side, cozy. There's not much drawer space if you're looking to unpack for a week. A large wardrobe does have about a dozen wooden hangers.
Nearby activities: Nine Line coffee is right in front of the motel :). Numerous shops and restaurants are easily within walking distance, we never moved the car from its parking space.
Safety: Mostly, we went out during the day. Never did we feel unsafe walking around the area. The couple of times we went out a night, we were mostly on Duval Street and, again, did not feel unsafe.
Walkability: We walked everywhere, averaging about 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day.

I'd give Orchid Key Inn a million stars on all fronts if I could. My stay here was nothing short of spectacular. The property itself is the very picture of quaint and lovely... a quiet, beautifully landscaped oasis of calm just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street. A tranquil pool and spa area forms the heart of the inn. Ample access to chaise lounges and shaded table seating ensure one can always find a nice place to enjoy a quiet moment here without having to strategize or jockey for position. Flanking the pool area is the Orchid's own impressively stocked bar where friendly mixologists serve up expertly crafted cocktails and generous pours of high-quality wine with a smile and an engaging wit. They are happy to deliver drinks to you poolside, should you request it. Breakfast is served in the same area daily. You'll find a wide variety of light and tasty options on offer, fresh juices and smoothies, and coffee that's ACTUALLY good.
My room was spotless, beautiful, and comfortable. The bed was comfortable; the bathroom--luxurious, with every amenity on offer (even bath salts!); the air conditioning--a powerful godsend. It seemed newly updated and meticulously cared for. The small bar area in my room included a mini fridge, a microwave, and a Keurig coffee machine.
That said, the people of the Orchid Key Inn are what makes it so TRULY spectacular. They are the jewels in the crown of this incredible place. Every single individual I interacted with at the Orchid Key Inn received me with grace, kindness, and enthusiasm: from the desk staff to the bartenders to the housekeeping staff to the maintenance crew. I was blown away. The concierge services offered by the office staff are bar-none. They can book rental mopeds, golf carts, excursions... they'll make your dreams come true. Even ones you never knew you had. Maintenance came running to adjust my refrigerator and explain to me how best to keep it happy in the kindest way. Housekeeping kept my room spic and span. Smiles upon smiles upon smiles. Maybe it had something to do with the high quality of the company I was keeping, but my stay at the Orchid Key Inn was nothing short of joyful.
I have stayed at fine hotels all over the world, so I was incredulous when I first read the reviews of this place, Trust me or try me. They're all true. They've earned every one of those glowing recommendations. I left beaming. I'll be back again and again. Sending my heartiest and most heartfelt thanks to the entire crew of the Orchid Key Inn for all they did to show me a magical time. Incredible!
Rooms: Pristine, comfortable, and well-appointed. Meticulously maintained and clean.
Nearby activities: Everywhere you want to be in Key West is just around the corner.
Safety: If you keep your nose clean, you'll have no problems. I accidentally dropped some cash at one point. It was promptly returned. People will make it their mission to show you a good time.
Walkability: The Orchid Key Inn is located in the heart of Key West's lively district.
Food and drinks: Stellar cocktails here and a hearty breakfast every day. The food scene in Key West is impressive. There's something for every palate, just steps away.
Noteworthy details: Here's a good one... watched a maintenance man dis- then re-assemble every chaise lounge around the pool one afternoon. When I asked what he was doing, he told me he was retrofitting every chair with new hardware so as to make it nearly impossible for one to pinch their fingers inadvertently while adjusting the chair. It's a perfect example of how the staff of this hotel curate even the most minute detail at their property to ensure that guests enjoy a pleasant and marvelous experience.

Rooms: They've done an amazing job reinventing this 1950's motel into a modern-day adults only retreat. We had a king-sized bed with comfortable pillows and bedding. Built in storage and kuerig coffee bar with glass front beverage fridge. Fresh bottles of water are left in the room daily along with snack crackers. Most rooms face the pool, I saw one guest comment that they had to keep the drapes pulled closed so they couldn't have natural sunlight in the room. This is completely incorrect. They are beautiful decorative shears over the windows with a palm frond pattern that allow in natural light. You can also see out the pool deck. However, from the pool area, you could not see into the rooms unless perhaps someone walked right up to your window and peered in intentionally. The rooms were very comfortable with Terrazzo tile, very clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the rain shower, and the bathrooms were perfectly appointed with in shower shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all in different tropical scents as well as a hand wash and body lotion next to the sink. The products were all available for purchase if you enjoyed them and wish to have some at home. We enjoyed the beautiful courtyard area and pool. Plenty of lounge chairs and additional seating for guests. The lounge chairs had towels rolled in place at the feet every day, along with additional towels, should you need them. They were little tables covered with linen tablecloths and pretty live plants on them to sit out and have breakfast, coffee, or cocktails. They also had a beautiful station set up with lemon water for your consumption whenever you wished and coffee in the mornings that was delicious. At the water stand, they also had available sunblock and after sun lotion and aloe in case you had a little too much sun. This was a nice little addition that was very welcome, considering we needed to take advantage of it, lol. They have a separate little building on the courtyard where they have a lovely breakfast set up each morning. Many items available, such as Chobani yogurt, fresh fruit salad that included cantaloupe, honeydew melon, blackberries, kiwi, pineapple, and blueberries They also had available individual fruit such as bananas, oranges, and apples. They had a charcuterie tray with some sliced meats and cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, various pastries and donuts, toaster waffles, plain English muffins, cinnamon raisin English muffins and blueberry English muffins, various Bagels, oatmeal and granola as well as dry cereal. They were accruement available such as peanut butter, honey, Nutella, and others. They also had fresh juices available and coffee. It was a perfect way to start each day. We absolutely loved that this is an adult only establishment. Everyone was quiet and respectful, annice adult conversation h ppening in the common areas. We especially enjoyed this because we have a special needs grandson that lives at home so there's very little quiet time ever. It was nice for us to get away and not have any little ones. The staff was absolutely fantastic. They are meticulous in the upkeep. Everything from sweeping up little leaves falling from the foliage daily, to p ting out candles around the pool deck area during cocktail hour, refreshing snacks in your rooms daily cleaning etc. , he attention to detail is fantastic. Kat was working the front desk upon our arrival and was absolutely phenomenal. She is very friendly, outgoing and made us feel very welcome. I can honestly say when we had to check out we were hated having to leave. We never feel that way about leaving a hotel. Usually by the end of vacation, we're ready to go but, honestly we could have stayed and relaxed a couple of days more. The only thing that could possibly make it any better is if they had their own little restaurant, but there are plenty of eateries nearby. The only thing I would add to the room would be a fan. Even though the rooms are cool, we really enjoy having air movement when we sleep. This stay was perfection. We will stay here every visit t

We had a fantastic trip! The room was great, very clean, and the snacks and fresh bottles of water and coffee in the rooms every day was a nice treat. The breakfast was perfect and exactly what you need to start the day. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The drinks at the bar were delicious, and the bar tenders were the best! Chris makes the best martinis and gave us great advice on where to go while in town. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the keys! Thank you for making our trip great!
