We got really lucky with a good room (168, 2 queens, pull out sofa, pool view) and didn't have any of the issues with mold that other reviewers are describing and our AC worked fine. We had a BLAST! I stayed with my boyfriend and his friend and we were delighted to have free margaritas upon arrival, unlimited free waters, and a free shuttle to the downtown area. It was also very walkable to the beach. The pool had a few resident iguanas nearby, which for us was a HUGE plus as we love animals! The breakfast at the hotel was pretty decent and they were able to accommodate my gluten-free diet.
The only possible negatives are that the floors could have been slightly cleaner and the pull-out couch had a concerning amount of stains, so it's probably time that they replace those. Our friend was still fine with it though and the negatives definitely don't outweigh the positive. The hotel staff was the most accommodating I have EVER experienced. They held our bags for us before and after checkout, they were able to provide anything we needed like more towels, toilet paper, waters, directions, etc. We will definitely be back!

We are from Ohio. We really enjoyed our stay here. The place was really clean. The room was nice. We got a king room. The staff were friendly. The shuttle service is awesome and so nice. They provide free trips into town all day and to and from the airport. The manager was able to help us with a late check out for our late flight and held our bags at the desk for us. We rented a moped through concierge which was soo much fun driving around and coming and going as we please. Free parking almost anywhere with a moped all over the city. I highly recommend it.
Rooms: The room was really clean
Safety: We felt safe here and in the city
Walkability: Not much is walkable from the hotel other than the beach.
Food and drinks: The food and drinks are a little expensive but good and they do happy hour prices. Go down the road to check out Wasacaca food truck. Pretty good food.
Noteworthy details: Free shuttle service

This was an okay hotel overall. The food was great, we ate there most days for dinner and one time for breakfast. The servers at the restaurant were truly amazing! The pool was nice and relaxing during the week. In the weekend, it did get very crowded by older people who were drinking. Keep that in mind if you're going with kids. The shuttle from/to the airport was nice. My biggest issue was the room. It looks nice in the picture, but you cannot see how dirty the floors were, the mold in the shower (that was pretty gross) and the A/C that barely worked. Housekeeping came to clean daily, but I feel like all they did was make the bed. The floor was full of sand on arrival, and it was never cleaned even after letting the front desk know. We had the A/C set to 65, and the room temperature never went under 73. It was hotter at night. I woke up multiple times because the A/C kept shutting off. Overall, it was okay like I said, but for the price, I know there are better places.

I spent way too much money for there to be roaches!!! Do not stay here. Find somewhere else to stay in key west. I was also told after letting them know we had roaches to come see the manager. I went to see her and got the front desk lady who said she was in a meeting. No follow up at all with the manager. Absolutely nothing was done. They said they were going to spray the room, but why were there more! The food was nasty. We went out for every meal. We ordered a simple chicken sandwich. Why was there a bunch of nasty coleslaw in it. The eggs for breakfast were the fake eggs salt and pepper couldn’t help it. There’s no where to wash off the sand after you go to the beach. They have them but they are all broken. The rooms don’t get cleaned properly. Which is why they have roaches. The lobby smelt like mold. The ceiling in the lobby was leaking so they had towels on the floor. This was not worth the price at all.

Best place ever!! everyone you meet welcomes you with a smile and is always available to help
Rooms: The rooms are wonderful. I have stayed in their suites the maids come every day and clean the place like it was their own home.
Safety: Safety is never concerned at Margaritaville beach house. There is always somebody walking around the property and plenty of lights to help you at night.
Food and drinks: The food at Margarita is top-notch. their specialty drinks are the best around served by happy bartenders

Pros: friendly, helpful staff; beautiful pool area & hotel; cozy rooms and sheets/towels; bar and food prices fair; good coffee/tea-free; beach access walkable in 2 minutes; free shuttle downtown; free smoothies at 12 daily; popsicles at 2; cookies 3-7PM.
Cons: thin walls- can hear neighbors talking/blinking smoke alarms in room at night a bit annoying; sheets are ‘loud’-rustle when you move; area not walkable for food; constant ‘estuary’ smell due to nearby swamp area; pool is cold

Complimentary on-demand shuttle from the airport, Chris at check-in was amazing. Able to get us a complimentary upgrade to a suite, gave us a run down on all the happenings at the resort and answered any questions I had before I could even ask them. He made us feel so welcome. You can tell parts of the hotel are older but everything overall appears well maintained. Love that the pool has a 6ft end, as a tall person it’s hard to find a hotel pool that you don’t stick half out of. Bar service and food were good. Not within walking distance of anything but loved the shuttle to and from town, lets off right at the Waterfront Brewing Co and the Duval Loop Bus stop. Easy walking to several attractions or can ride the bus. Smathers Beach is right across the street from the hotel, which the only less than ideal part of our trip was the seaweed smell. But nothing the hotel can do about that, it’s common in Key West this time of year. Would definitely stay here again!

Before check out I would’ve given the resort a lower review but after my experience with Mimi sorting out my rate issue I was dealing with for 2+ weeks I increased my rating. When I booked after I hit book my confirmation email didn’t match the rate that showed in the screen before and it took 6 calls and then telling me I would be called back over and over again to get fixed which finally got fixed with Mimi at check out. Rooms get 3 stars because of bugs, location, and ease of access. Bugs are inevitable in Florida but there were a lot and I think they could decrease the amount by wiping down the walls and countertops more thoroughly. The rooms are hard to access if you don’t want to/can’t walk stairs. We had a stroller and could only use one elevator to get to our room. Access to each room is from outdoors. Another downside was that we constantly saw people letting others into the pool area that were not staying at the resort. One one occasion (Monday Sept 30th around 6pm) we saw 5 individuals in the pool, none with wristbands and 2 of them get picked up by an Uber, smoking weed and cigarettes inside the pool, drinking Jim beam straight out the bottle. An employee stocking the towels walked past them 2 times and didn’t say a word. Not only are you not supposed to have outside alcohol or be smoking anywhere near the pool, they shouldn’t even have been on the property. In addition to that, they all looked about 15-18 years old. Service was excellent, Levan and Sam were great bartenders. Front desk was very nice. John at the excursion desk was very helpful. Food and drinks were amazing. It smelled horrible anytime you stepped foot out your room but I think it was from the seaweed or hurricane that just hit the day prior to our check in. The beach was also covered in seaweed about 5 feet along the shoreline so you can’t even go there. There was construction going on on the road outside the resort AND at the resort so the entire time at the pool you heard saws, drills and hammering. This doesn’t bother us too much because we travel often and see this often.
Rooms: Large, living room separated by 2 doors to bedroom. Mini fridge and microwave which is really nice to have. No tubs, only stand up showers with very cheap low quality shower heads.
Nearby activities: Lots of Nearby activities. John can help you book excursions at the desk or rent a golf cart to get around the island with Mile 0 Rentals. Parking is very limited in key west so for your day or two visiting duval street or stock island I’d highly recommend a golf cart. Only $150 for 24 hours if you rent after 10am.
Safety: People are easily able to let non-guests into the resort. I saw many people there without wristbands and getting picked up by Ubers.
Food and drinks: Fantastic bartenders. Great drinks and amazing food. Pricey. but everything in key west is pricey.

I visit Margaritaville in Key West and Hollywood FL any chance i can get. I most recently booked a trip on Expedia and had to cancel because I won't be able to go (for dates in June 2025) Long story short I'm in disgusted of how management has handled this situation not willing to refund me. I chose a nonrefundable option and made a simple human error. My flights and car were also nonrefundable but refunded me with no problem as they understand. Human error can happen! I now have to pay for a vacation my family and I won't even be able to go to as Margaritaville Key West is refusing to refund me. I will never visit this chain again nor recommend to anyone! Run elsewhere! All they care about is the money!

Staying here if you are getting married is amazing! They treat you like royalty the entire stay!
Erika, pablo and Brie are the best employees there!
My stay will forever be memorable!
Some of my guests did have some complaints but Brie always came to the rescue.
Thank you all!

We had a really nice stay. Every day there were fresh towels for us and beds were made, the staff was very accommodating and always checked in with us throughout our stay to see how things were and if we needed anything. I also enjoyed that our room key was on a wristband so it made it really easy to not lose. If I ever end up back in key west, this will be where I stay again.
