The entire staff I thought was pleasant and attentive. If you're nice, they are nicer times 2. I was shocked by the amount of drunk old white entitled tourists in this town...lol, so maybe, some bad reviews are a reflection of that demographic.
Location perfect. Every guest I hung out w at the pool or breakfast was great and interesting to talk to. Room was cold, which is all I cared about. It was cute, unique and a vibe. Exceeded my strong expectations. Would def stay again.

If I could give 0 starts I would. Upon arrival at 3 PM when we checked in our A/C was not working in our room. This specific day we were staying there was a heat advisory it was so hot so the room was miserably hot. We immediately went and notified the front desk of the issue and was told someone will be up shortly to fix it. A while goes by and no one had come up to take a look so we go back down to the front desk and it is closed up for the day. I have never seen a hotel only have staff until 5PM. There was an afterhours line that we called and left a message. I receive a call back from a man saying he is out fishing and can't help and I should call the emergency line. So, I called the emergency line as our hotel room was not sleepable with no A/C and in a heat advisory. I never received a call back from the "emergency" line after leaving several messages throughout the course of the night. The next day we checked out and cancelled the next night's stay. They proceeded to charge our card and say we were not within the cancellation window. We explained to them our room had no A/C and we got no sleep and do not wish to stay here again and refused to refund money. We were told also that having no a/c was not an emergency and I should never of called that number. We called multiple days to speak to a manager about this incident and every time we called we were told he is not in. So, after $300 for a night of not being able to sleep and in sweat and getting berated by the front desk man I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this hotel. I work in the hospitality industry in Islamorada myself and can't ever imagine treating customers or people like we were treated.

Good: Great location
Bad: Terrible Plumbing
Ugly: Needs maintenance
Heron House is located within walking distance of Duval Street. You are on your own with parking. Plan on driving around to find a spot. The pool area is nice, and I would recommend rooms overlooking the pool. Grounds need some serious maintenance and renovation. Outside coffee is available at 7:30 am. Breakfast consisted of stale bagles and breads. After the first morning, we had breakfast elsewhere. We selected the upstairs suite while our friends had a pool room. Our bathroom sink only dripped water, and the shower handles and diverter were not functioning. We were forced to brush our teeth at the wet bar in our room and take Luke warm showers with a light mist of water. We arrived on Friday, and I told the office associate of the plumbing issue. He seemed unconcerned and said it wouldn't be looked at until Monday. On monday, I told a different office associate about the issue and mentioned we didn'twant to deal with someone repairing during our visit. He didn't seem to know anything about it. The safe was missing and told the new one was on order. Our friends' safe in their room was broken. Something told me the staff was already aware of the issues. Our suit was big with a king size bed and wet bar. The room appeared clean but really wasn't. Mold all through the shower, dust on fan and bed frame. Oh yes, I found two roaches in the room. The maid service was prompt, and towels were replaced daily.
This place and rooms really needs a complete makeover. It is in a great location and the rooms are large. The pool area is great for getting acquainted with the other guests. Unfortunately, we don't recommend Heron House until they do some serious upgrades.

The place is nice, very central, the person at the front desk is not at all friendly, very rude and discriminates against Latinos from what I could feel with his very bad treatment. I don't think that such a poorly educated person should be in a hotel folder since that is the face of it and the first impression that the guest has of the place for everything else the breakfast was very tasty the breakfast girl was very kind and friendly the opposite of the rude person at the front desk date today 3/31 time 11:02 am (my opinion for a front desk you need a charismatic and good-natured person
Nearby activities: All very good, lots of fun

Vacationer beware!
Not all rooms are like pics posted on websites. We booked a queen size room with a pool view. We got a full size room with a view of a fence.
Room was bare bones. Only one open outet. Window AC unit was rusty and gaps between unit and window sill big enough that bugs can come in and on how humid days the unit won't cool the room. Could never get room cool enough. Shower didn't drain properly and toilet handle broke so you couldn't flush.
Front desk, Patrick, had a look of I could care less what you are saying.
He is not there to make sure guests are happy.
Grounds are nice. Pool is a plus. Location is great. Parking is expensive and be prepared to walk a bit to find parking. A car is not necessary if you are staying in this part of Key West. Continental breakfast is lacking once you figure out where it is.
Go into staying here with low expectations and if you have any issues realize that no one cares and they won't be addressed.

I booked this trip last minute. The staff was amazing. The breakfast was not expected so amazing. The room was amazing. The location was amazing. I even enjoyed the cats which I normally would never. I am a female who was traveling alone. On a mission to look at real estate in Key West. I felt completely safe and the accommodation, staff, property and the guest were all amazing. I traveled by bike by day and walked at night. Close to everything. I did not use the ground but 5 star for what it is. Thank you look forward to staying again!

Roman, the inn keeper was excellent. The inn is quite old, but very clean. There is a small pool, which no one used as it was quite cool for Key West. The room was very clean. Floors were very clean. The bed was uncomfortable. The matress was pretty bouncy. I like a hard bed.there weredome issues I think with the frame as the bed leaned to one side. Shower had hot water, water came out very slowly. We actually took off the head to get a good shower. I feel a fair amount of TLC needs to be done. At least in rm 15.crackedsink and cracked faucets should be replaced. Breakfast was a pretty standard Continental style. Overall a decent stay just outside the busy areas. Would stay again, but would check room first. My name is actually Keith. Use the moniker as a second name.
Nearby activities: Quick wall to Duval St. Lots of great restaurants in walking distance

2nd time staying here our plane got cancelled. Had non-refundable rooms and front desk/management was understanding and gave us a voucher for our next visit. Hopefully soon. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and perfect location to everything

Location is perfect! You're close to everything and just off Duval so you're near the action but not completely immersed in it. The grounds are really well kept, lush and inviting. The staff is very nice.
The room I stayed in was a claustrophobic mess hence the overall rating. Unless you really need a room by the pool, stay away from rooms #1-4. These are the rooms right next to the pool which I believe are also referred to as 'tropical queens' on the travel sites. They say it's a queen bed but it really felt like a full. You're only source of light in the room is the French door entry. Drapes were a mess. Cords all dangling from the tiny wall mounted TV in the corner which was weird considering they used a cord cover for the power cord. Didn't even bother to center the artwork on the walls. Strange bathroom with horrible hot water. The pics on the website are definitely misleading. These rooms seem like afterthoughts or maybe cabana or pool storage rooms someone though they'd throw a bed into and rent out.
If it were not for those rooms the place was really nice.
Rooms: Rooms 1-4 are awful. Better to opt for a king
Walkability: Close to everything. Bike racks inside the property behind a locked door.
Noteworthy details: Nice pool area. Really good continental breakfast offered. Beautiful grounds.

Had a pleasant 2-night stay here.
