We were there 09-29 to 10-5 for our anniversary. It's been quite a while since our last visit and noticed some changes. Had an awesome stay! Our room, 28B, was the only disappointment. Horribly uncomfortable bed and very hot in the room due to the sky light and bathroom windows. Needed to put towels over the windows to try to further block the heat and keep the AC at 61. It was quiet except for the occasional noise from the hotel next door. Sadly, this is our last stay at Equator as there is ownership changes coming in January. We'll be back in 2025 and hoping the Bishop carries on the wonderful traditions of Equator Resort.
Rooms: Room 28B was the only disappointment. Horribly uncomfortable bed and very hot in the room due to the sky light and bathroom windows. Needed to put towels over the windows to try to further block the heat and keep the AC at 61.
Nearby activities: Unless you want or need to go to New Town you have everything you need in Old Town. Plenty of maps and guides are available as well as information for cruises and water adventures.
Safety: All doors are coded with the last 4 digits of your phone number. Walking back to the hotel at dark we never encountered a problem. That said, always be on your guard!
Walkability: Before you go get a good pair of walking shoes. Once you park the car it stays put! Take time and stroll throughout the island.

Great gay men's only resort. To bad Jan 2025, it will not be a gay men's resort...

The physical property is in SERIOUS need of capital improvement and daily maintenance, just to bring it back to acceptable. There are many tiles missing from steps of one of the spas. There are numerous boards on the decking that need to be fastened down. There a large number of weeds and overgrown shrubs and plants. There was barely any hot water in the room showers. The decking and concrete are in serious need of being power washed. There are tie wraps being used to support palms growing in pots to prevent them from falling on guest's head. Just seems to be a lot of short cuts being taken, instead of actually fixing what is wrong.

It was a great experience and resort to stay!
Rooms: Very beautiful and comfortable room!
Walkability: We walked almost everywhere! Some nights we took an Uber or Lyft back!
Noteworthy details: It’s centrally located!

I love Equator. It is a combination of 5 other properties added over the decades. In August, the crowd is lighter, but this is my last trip here. As of Jan 5, 2025, the name changes to Bishop, and the doors fly open to clothing required varied genital clientele. Therefore I am looking elsewhere. If the str8 folk don’t appreciate it, their loss, but they could have the Westin, or Hyatt, shorter walks, and plenty of offspring, theirs or others. Equator will be missed.
Rooms: If all you need is a bed, shower, and a tv there are nice rooms for less money. More money, more room.
Safety: Never felt unsafe.

HIDEOUSLY overpriced for the level of service & quality of accommodations. I had a great time in Key West but this hotel is NOT worth the $$$

This hotel is in a great location in Key West. It's a shame it's going to become a straight place at the beginning of the year.
Rooms: Rooms are way bigger than the competitor down the street
Safety: Key West is a pretty safe place I would never really worry
Walkability: Only three blocks from Duval Street and two blocks from the water at the wharf

My partner and I came down for a little 4th of July getaway and were very impressed with our stay here!
Very friendly staff from the moment we walked in. We were greeted and shown around the resort and brought to our room. We stayed in room 14 and the room was fantastic for what we needed. Quick room service while eating breakfast in the morning made our bed and replaced our necessities.
The entire stay was relaxing and all the men minded their own while having a great time enjoying the sun and each others’ company. At 5pm we received complimentary wine (four drinks) during happy hour which was a great time to mingle with the men there and catch up with others.
The evening was also nice to hang out by the pool and socialize. Every day was just fantastic and we couldn’t have asked for more. Also, having the resort closed off to the public gave it that little more of a relaxing experience for us. We would be coming back but it seems we found this place too little too late. But happy we got to at least experience it. Thank you Equator for a great vacation getaway!
Rooms: The room we stayed in was perfect for what we needed.
Safety: Loved the safety around this resort. All entries require a key code which is given to you at the time of arrival. No need to carry and key card anywhere.
Walkability: Easy to walk anywhere in Key West from location. From the southern most point, to Duval street, to Mallory Square, we walked to it all.
Food and drinks: Everything you need there for grab and go food and drinks, all charged to the room. From 1700 - 1830 received four complimentary drinks for happy hour with an assortment of adult beverages.

Its so close to being nice, yet it has so far to go.Positives: We had a great time in Key West. It is a short walk to the main strip in town. The pools and hot tubs were a wonderful temp and clean. Plenty of areas to get sun and plenty of areas to find shade. The free drinks during happy hour are nice. Most of the staff were very friendly. Everyone staying was extremely friendly and welcoming. Linens were clean and comfortable. The Cons:It really seems like they do not care about investing into the facility. Lots of litte things were in need of repair. The room had obviously been cleaned but the entire place really needs a good deep cleaning. The walls were dirty, furniture was dusty, and pink grime in the corners of the bathroom. This would be fine for a $150 comfort inn room somewhere, but not a $400 room during the week.

A quiet enclave in the city at the end of the road.Safety: Only guest and friends of guest at this resort.Walkability: From here you can explore all of key west on foot. Well, most of key washedon't foot since there's lots of bar stops.
