I previously lived in key largo for a few years and had in 2016ish brought a stray cat I cared for to island hammock when he showed up injured at my door. They treated him and he fully recovered. Cut to 2024 and I’m down here on vacation and my dog had a suspected ear infection. She would not stop shaking her head and we were leaving town that morning with a long travel day ahead of us. I called IH and Dani the receptionist was so kind and saw I had been there previously and talked to the vet about fitting me in. Unfortunately it wouldn’t work out but she was so empathetic she sent me a text of other neighboring vets to see if I could get my dog seen. I called around in 4 cities and only 1 in Miami could do it, but in a few hours. Cut back to Dani calling back saying they had a cancellation and could take Tilly in 30 mins. It was a miracle! I so appreciated being squeezed in by the staff here and for Dani going above and beyond to make it happen. Thank you so much!

Cannot leave ZERO stars or I would. I had an older dog who just needed furosemide, the vet would not refill his script without taking more blood work and from his neck! He didn't like this and pulled back leaving the needle hanging from his throat. The vet insisted I give him meds to drug him next time instead of just giving him the lifesaving meds that he needed. Obviously never returned.

We needed a health certificate for our dog so we could sail to the Bahamas. IHPH was incredibly knowledgeable, communicative, and helpful.

Excellent, professional and friendly service. I take my oets there and highly recommend it. I had my dog spade and they were there all step of the way. The pre-surgery and post-surgery experience was fantastic. Every one in the office go the extra steps. Very happy!

This is a wonderful place. This staff is amazing. We were in from out of town and needed one of our dogs looked at. They got us right in, gave her a quick exam and fixed her injury. I highly recommend this place.

On Thursday November 30th I brought my cat Gracie in because she was sneezing for a few weeks, and from the symptoms, it appeared as though she had a little sinus infection. They gave her a shot of an antibiotic which stays in her system for about 14 days. I was already giving her cat vitamins for a week or so, and she was actually showing signs of improvement the day or two before I brought her in, so I'm not sure if the antibiotic was even needed, but I had them administer it to her anyway to safe measure. She's doing fine now. This is the issue I had with this appointment, and it's something that I never experienced before in any kind of medical office or really in any professional office for that matter. It was a small examining room, with one front door where I came in from, and one back door where the medical staff comes in and out. Tiffany was the nurse and the veterinarian was Dr. Allison Millington. After the doctor was finished examining my cat, she left the room through the back door and Tiffany filled me in with a few things for a couple of minutes. She then exited out of the back door and Dr. Millington was standing right there when I saw the door open. She closed the door and they were discussing my appointment. Tiffany was standing right next to the other side of the closed door, but I could basically hear every word she was saying. Then the doctor made a derogatory remark about me (making fun), and I heard Tiffany clearly respond, "I know, I tried not to laugh." The doctor and the nurse can deny this all they want to management, but I know what I heard, and there was no mistake about it.So yeah, these are the kind of 'people' you have working in this place. Needless to say, I will never be taking my business there ever again. I don't go to a doctor's office for treatment, either for myself or for my pet, to be insulted behind my back. It's a shame because I really do like the facility (it's a nice setup), and it's only two miles from my house. I wanted to talk to the medical director Dr. Amy Ford about this, and I left her a few messages right after my visit, but she didn't attempt to call me back until a week later. I didn't return her call, but either way, I was still going to leave this review.-------------------------Response to the 'owner's' response (12/15/23) - This is beyond a "disappointing experience," when the medical staff makes derogatory remarks about a client behind their back for absolutely no reason (they were making fun of me). They didn't think I could hear them behind the closed door, but I could. I never felt so humiliated in all my life. After I heard their remarks, all I wanted to do was get out of there after that and never come back. And Dr. Amy Ford took too long to get back to me about this; one week is not acceptable. Instead of the front desk staff or whoever else is reading these reviews and responding, she should be the one instead. She's the medical director. She probably doesn't even know about this, and if she does, it should be taken very seriously by her.

I can't say enough good things about this vet!! I live in Marathon but work in Tavernier. My awesome vet is in Marathon but there have now been two instances when I have had to drive north to SVRC, once because my vet was closed and the second time because my dog got sick at work. Both times they sent someone out to the parking lot to take her vitals and make sure she was stable enough to continue on to Miami without even expecting payment! Best humans ever!!!

I have lived in many different states and moved to key Largo two months ago. I had an emergency situation occur when my dog was attacked by a large dog. The entire staff handled this trauma in such a caring and professional manner. They have been fabulous for the past two weeks and Romeo is happy and healing. This is truly a five star Pet Hospital that I highly recommend.

Had an emergency need for a vet while on vacation and Island Hammock Pet Hospital is 110% the place to go. All of the staff is extremely kind, compassionate, and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us and our dog feel comfortable and taken care of. Tiffany was incredible with our dog who is extremely fearful of the vet. I have never seen our dog relax in a vets office the way she did with Tiffany. 10/10 recommend this place. Wish we had them as a local office! Thank you Island Hammock Team!

I want to thank the entire staff at Island Hammock Hospital. I took my 14 yr Sheltie she was ill and had to put her to rest. They were so kind and thoughtful during this hard process. I have never been to such a great office. They sent me a sympathy card in the mail signed by the entire staff. That was so thoughtful and I picked up her ashes they had also placed a little bottle with her hair to have as a memory. I highly recommend them. I will be taking my dogs to these vets from now on for their shots and everything. Highly recommend. Great attention thank you very much truly appreciate you all!!!

Our precious Golden Retriever, Brady underwent minor surgery for a hematoma on his ear flap in North Carolina just before we headed to Key Largo for vacation. We scheduled an appointment with Island Hammock Pet Hospital to have Brady's stitches out 10 days later (as instructed by our Vet in NC). Dr. Edwards at Island Hammock took off Brady's bandages and found that Brady had a very serious infection and giant flaming "hot spot" under his bandages. We had no idea as the bandage was fully intact and dry. Brady wasn't showing any discomfort. Although we were not a regular client, Dr. Edwards and her team at Island Hammock Pet Hospital were absolutely wonderful and took excellent care of Brady during our stay. We didn't leave Key Largo until Brady was done with all his treatments with Dr. Edwards. All of the staff was so kind to us and to Brady during this very traumatic time. They were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING & COMPASSIONATE!!! I'd highly recommend them and only wish they were close enough to be our primary vet but 14 hours away is a little too far. Thank you again Dr Edwards and to all of the staff. You all were wonderful!!!
