Very outdated and overpriced. The shower is plastic like in the student rooms, the musty smell when entering the room, the carpet is not clean?. To avoid. On the other hand, just 5 minutes by car from the John Pennekamp reserve.

If I could give no stars I would. Was the most unprofessional and horrendous expierence ever. Super rude and nasty people. Was trying to keep things local and for the community and they ruined it completely.

We were on a roadtrip with the 4 of us, and stayed only one night. The rooms are very basic and old (the airconditioning makes a lot of noise and that's an understatement) but besides that, you can have a sleep and a shower there so it was fine by us. It is located at a pretty busy road though. The owner is really friendly and the lodge gives you an American feeling. It was ok for one night but never again.. ?

Stayed 2 nights. If you're on budget this is perfect. Price was right for the Florida keys. Our unit had twin beds, fridge, microwave and table with stools. The place is kind of dated - think 1970s Motel 6 - but clean. And no bugs. A couple of things aren't perfect, like the loose shower handle.

Great place to stay. An old style Mom and Pop Motel. Nice price. Good value for your dollar. Very very clean. Building is dated. But at this price who cares!! Other than traffic noise, very quiet. Spend a dollar and buy ear plugs if you do not hear the cars on the highway. A great deal for Key Largo. Room had A/C and a kitchen, with stove, microwave, sink, dishes, pots and pans, and a good sized fridge. If you need a candy on your pillow at night, a full bar, and a place to party... Then go down the road to the places that at $350 a night.

This was our first trip to The Keys and we couldn't have been happier. While we didn't make it all the way to Key West, what we did see was fantastic. We are old school, and love quaint, homey establishments. Ed & Ellen's fits that bill. Two full size beds for us to spread out, a tv, refrigerator with a freezer full of ice cubes already made for us, a stove, table and stools, and a three piece bathroom. What more do you need? AC? They had that too! I am giving this place five stars because my husband and I received the best hospitality ever. I inadvertently left my cellphone behind in the room upon checkout. After contacting them when we discovered this, Ed told us to send a self-address stamped package, and they would get my phone back to me. It's on the way as I write this! Good people! To me...this is everything! Thank you Ed & Ellen from two really grateful travelers.

I would suggest spending a little more money somewhere else and get a better place to stay... the saying "you get what you pay for" is real with this place! It had three twin size beds and a trundle bed that pulled out from one of the twin beds to make another bed... so total of four twin size beds....a microwave and mini fridge... a very small tv that sit so high you couldn't watch it! The owner is an old guy named Ed and he is a cornball... we stayed for four nights was supposed to be five but we left early because we couldn't take another night in that place!! Never got fresh towels, toilet paper or trash bags... so we had to end up using our own!! Before we got there I called to try to pay the room in full so that all we had to do was check in... and Ed said I was confusing him and to just pay when I get there... didn't make sense to me but ok.... we get there and then his credit card machine doesn't work... so we have to go across the street to a bank whose atm was down ... so now we have to find an atm... found one at a gas station .. my bank would only allow me to take 200 cash... so now my fiancé has to take money out too... so now we are both having to pay the atm fees just because Ed's machine was down very frustrating!! If you do stay here which I beg you not to.. bring cash!! The upstairs was leaking into the downstairs so we had water on our floor told Ed about it and he was very nonchalant about it.., said sometimes the people upstairs get water on the floor and it floods....the shower curtain was tiny and wasn't big enough to cover the shower so water was everywhere anytime someone took a shower, hence the flooding! The decor is 80s and hasn't been updated since then! Not worth the money at all!! I would give it zero stars but it wouldn't let me!
