I never write a review unless it is good. Today, I write my first bad review. I visited Stylist Kim Rojas in Phenix Salon Suites, which is located in Jonathan Landing Plaza. I was there for a haircut and hair color. Kim had an unprofessional attitude from the start. I came 7 or 8 minutes early to my appointment. However, I was greeted by Kim running out the front door saying, "Oh, you are here!" I said that yes I was here and a bit early. She quickly told me that she wanted to lock the front door. Ok, but that was not a very cortial greeting? Once inside I showed Kim some pictures of the hairstyle I wanted on my phone. She said, OK, and then she asked about the color. I told her what she used before. I also told Kim, "I appreciate her help". She sarcastically said, "You say, 'I appreciate your help' often. So I made a note to avoid saying that polite phrase to her again. While she applied the color, I had to endure Kim talking with another customer on how bartenders make so much more money than nurses. She went on and on about where she was a bartender before becoming a stylist. I realize good bartenders can do quite well but honestly, an RN studies very hard in college and is paid a very good salary. This conversation was irritating and a bit vulgar. I quietly sat while the color was setting and Kim then asks me to come sit in the other chair for the rinse. I removed the plastic sleeves from my reading glasses before sitting down. Subsequently, I got dye on my hands. Kim was irritated and she retorted that she always removes the plastic sleeves after the customer is seated and I should not have taken them off myself. Her tone was not kind but very curt. I told her that I did not know her daily routine and had removed them myself. As an after thought, she shoved a washcloth into my hands to wipe off the dye. Then she said, "So why do you think you can wear the hairstyle you showed me?" I asked Kim if she thought it would be a problem? Instead of offering professional guidance she told me most people my age do not wear their hair as long as mine. Ok, I am 73, but my hair is only shoulder length and her comment was again unprofessional. ? When you make an appointment with a good salon, you do not expect this type of experience. The unprofessionalism, attitude, and demeanor of this stylist proved to be reason enough to decline the haircut and just pay for the color. This was the first time I have ever visited a professional salon without giving a 20 % tip. I am so sorry I had this experience and I will not be returning.

Had my hair cut with April and couldn't have prayed for a better experience! Friendly, funny and extremely talented I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and am currently loving the fresh flat top . Would highly recommend and I can't wait to go back!Best Barber in Florida seriously!

Not only does she give me the most amazing hairstyle, she is very flexible with scheduling and always gives service with a smile! I have been using April (the owner) for a couple of years now and she is the best barber I've ever had. She is also very nice and can do any hairstyle. The shop is ultra clean and chair is disinfected after every cut. Highly recommended!!

Since my barber shop permanently closed due to covid19, i searched the neighborhood and so glad I found April. The shop is ultra clean. More importantly, April is the best barber ever! the haircut was just amazing! I recommend April highly if you you're looking for a new barber!
