So disappointed at what has happened to this once very caring and compassionate small business. I’ve been going here since 2016 and they become rude and disinterested and cold. I had an emergency with my car today and I’m afraid to drive it any kind of distance and they had zero interest in helping me. I called fire stone and Stuart and I said absolutely no problem. Now, I don’t know if I’m gonna make it and I hope I don’t get stuck and stop rush-hour traffic. If I do, I’m sorry, but it’s because of Shaffer automotive.
I just broke down again short of the drawbridge crossing in the Stuart. I’m charging the battery and thinking how much no one should ever go to Shaffer automotive again. It’s too bad because I’d really like to support small businesses but fire stone is also owned by local franchise so I guess that’s a better option as they’re absolutely cooperating with me.
Now the battery died again north of Monterey. I was only a mile from Shaffer but six from Firestone. So, my son and I are sitting on the side of the road charging the Honda from the VW.
Please note how Shaffer treats public school teachers.

My experience was awesome. I get why there is always cars in their lot. Quick productive friendly and to the point. Had an electrical issue going on with my van that started out of the blue. After spending 4 days trying to trace everything I was reccomend these guys. Kenny and Colon were awesome, kind hard working individuals who seemed to really enjoy what they do for a living judging by some stories I was told. Nancy in the office is blunt, straightforward and gets it done and I appreciate that. Don't waste their time and they won't waste yours. All the times I was in there the phone never stopped and they seemed to handle it great. The best mechanic experience I've had on the East Coast, as I travel for a living. Fair friendly and efficient, can't ask for anything more imo.

We were traveling from Wisconsin down to visit friends in Florida. My truck started showing a SES light.
Shaffer Automotive quickly diagnosed and repaired the bad sensors for a reasonable price.
Truck is running great! Thanks to Shaffer Automotive.

I’ve been going here for about 16 years and can say they’re a good company to come get your vehicles fixed. Never had a problem with their work and won’t rip you off either like some auto shops

So I bring my toyota truck in running like garbage. I tell them what Ive seen & photo/videos of it happening. I ask them to run codes, and go through it, let me know what needs to be replaced. I leave the fan off because I had to manually turn it to get it to this point. They tell me later that they were unable to get codes off it because the battery was dead, it sat in my driveway for a month & I started it before I had it towed there. They left the key in killing the battery, resets the codes & the computer now & truck runs okish, and act like I’m making stuff up. I say replace all the plugs & 2 coils that were on my fouled plugs, and give them a few other things to look at. 2-3 days later & 900 something I get my vehicle back with a clean bill of health. I get it.. Long crank, 4 seconds to turn over, I go straight in they say mechanic never reported that, want to leave it? I say no I just Ubered over.. Does it multiple more times, sometimes 9 seconds. Clean the throttle body myself, little dirty & sticky remedies most of that. Then I noticed coolant running down the front of my engine, not a little but a solid stream, buy a water pump, do that myself.. Notice my idler pulley is rough do that as preventative.. During this I knock off my radiator overflow hose, evidently they 2 part epoxied a new undersized barb on, and hose clamped it to make up the difference. That set me off, don’t bother telling me you jerry rigged my radiator!? I asked them to look for potential problems while it’s there not charge 900 for an hour of work, and skip obvious issues.

Had a bad coil. Knew exactly which one as I have my own OBD scanner. Easy job, front of the engine so no tearing down. I could have done myself but traveling and no tools. Brought it in and they stole $500 for the job and did exactly what I told them was wrong. This is something I did myself at home in 5-10 minutes with $75 for a new coil and plug. You’ll get a fairer shake at a dealer.

My husband has been going to Kenny for years and has been happy with their service. We recommended Schaffer to my son, who needed work done to his truck. I am not going to speak to the work the mechanic did, as I hope it was done well, what I do want to speak to is the front desk or, the person of first impression. There are two women, this is directly written regarding the younger of the two. My son and I politely wanted to know information of the work involved, not disputing the bill, which was over $900, just to know exactly what was done, I have no knowledge on car repairs and wanted to know what else may need to be considered with this vehicle. She obviously has knowledge about vehicles as she sounded technical. She was rude, not helpful, didn't want to explain one thing, and basically made us feel that we were inconveniencing her workday. It is obvious she takes no pride in her work and certainly didn't care about customer service. If she didn't know the answers, then she should have had someone else speak to us, but she never said that. As a business owner myself, I would have fired her on the spot. The person of first impression can ruin a business where the work is good, but who wants to deal with a rude person where you are going to typically spend a good amount of money.
