I have been so blessed to donate items myself and on behalf of The Jacksonville Modern Quilt Guild to the Foster Closet. The work Tammy and her staff and volunteers do is so needed in the community. They provide clothing, toys, toiletries, and any number of other things to kids in foster care. These kids have been tossed around or removed from bad situations. To be able to walk in and shop the racks and pick outfits and toys for themselves must be uplifting for them. These children don't deserve to have gone through whatever they have so every little thing done to support them is a blessing. I read a few negative reviews and I obviously wasn't there for the specific experiences, but yes, they sometimes need our help to sort items and they have they have strict guidelines on what they accept clothing wise. As they say, these kids have been stained on the inside, they shouldn't have to wear stains on the outside. Thank you for all you do, Tammy and crew.

I love what they are doing here. I appreciated that the items are not junk and it's very well organized. It was such a blessing for us, and an encouragement to see the kids receive their clothing. They were all super happy to get vans shoes for school.

I called and attempted to donate 5 HUGE boxes of toys to this place yesterday. The lady told me very rudely I can't just drop them off I have to email her and make an appointment then she hung up on me. So I emailed...then was asked what kind of stuff I had. I told her mostly unopened toys but a few gently used. She then said I need to separate them...I told her they are already boxed up and they would have to do that upon arrival. She was very rude and seems like she wants people to give the items and do all the work too. I understand you may be short handed but when people are trying to be a blessing to kids in need don't make it hard for them. Do YOUR job and let us do the donating. She was very rude and seemed to lack any care about what she was doing at all. I decided to take my donation elsewhere. Such a shame.

Love the concept behind this place. We're moving and I had donations but hate giving them to a place that is just going to resell to anyone. foster Closet is only for foster children and their families which I love. They also keep their website updated with immediate needs. Amazing place to give donations.

Tammy and her stuff were absolutely amazing and very helpful. Not only did they take my foster children’s needs into consideration but they also talked to us and walked them through everything. They were very helpful and we got outstanding service and help from Tammy and her staff. They not only provided clothing but also shoes personal hygiene items games and everything else a child would need. This was such a blessing to have such a caring loving place help children in foster. I can’t thank Tammy and her staff enough for everything. We were truly blessed. Thank you for being so kind compassionate and loving and helping my foster daughters. May God’s Continue to bless you your family and your amazing ministry!

A friend of mine told me about Foster Closet to donate items. I was excited because A: I love supporting local organizations/businesses/charities and B. It specializes in providing to foster children. After reviewing the website, I packed items that was needed (women and boys clothes) and also toiletries (body wash, shampoo etc.)I arrived there today with 2 bags with the items mentioned. One young lady was nice and took the bag of toiletries and other lady, which I noticed is the Founder, didn't even said hi or thank me for bringing donations. Instead she scrutinized the other items before I even took it out of my truck. She asked "What's in there?" I said women summer clothes and teen boys clothes, as the website requested. There was a pink, terry cloth headwrap laying on top when I opened the box. She immediately replied "We don't take socks!"I just closed my trunk, said thank you, and left. Oh yes, they kept the travel size toiletries but I thought it says only full size....The urgent items listed on the website is what I was donated . I don't understand why it was rejected. You would think ANY items could use to a family in need. The other rebuttal is not enough volunteers? I understand due to Covid, volunteers are staying home. If other volunteers are needed, I would have been more than happy to help organize donations. It was not busy, never is when I drive by the location, so what are you doing to help the cause as the founder? Apparently not even looking through the items that literally came to your door."Foster Closet offers a simple, no-nonsense approach that provides immediate assistance without complicated procedures." I beg to differ. Lead by example. This non-profit organization is another example of grant money being used just for self-validation and praise. I'm very particular of my contributions and this experience was very disappointing. Do better, Tammy-Judi

Foster son got accepted into a program to complete his GED the day before the Christmas gift giving and I asked would they please hold them until he returned which would have been a couple of weeks. They said yes, then I called back 3 days later and talked with Donna and she said Tammy McGuire executive director said to give them away. After knowing a child in Foster care may not receive anything for Christmas why would you do that? My foster son was expecting the gifts from his wish list now he has to be told they gave them away knowing he went to enroll in a program to help him complete his GED.Very heartless and sad they would do that and gifts were not even bought by them. They are donations from partners in the community.

Amazing initiative to help the community! Tammy is a kind and wonderful person who cares deeply for the foster children of Jacksonville. Everything they do there is aimed towards providing the most that they can for these children and young adults. Please donate anything and everything that you can! They deserve all the support that they can get!
