In the 2.5 years I was under the care of FSS as a foster youth, nobody at FSS ever listened to my pleas requesting for help in getting my late fathers ssi death benefits ($2,082 per month). Nobody at FSS bothered helping me fix my identity documents (social, ID, birth certificate) all which had different names on them this prevented me from doing so many things in my life. FSS placed me at a homeless shelter because they claimed they could find me a home to live at. I was sex-trafficked at this homeless shelter. FSS never helped me get disability SSDI ( they instead told me I didn’t have a disability). FSS never helped me get food stamps (I always had the wrong amount or none at all). Once I went six months wjth broken Medicaid and when my foster mom tried to help me fix it Fss supervisor ms. Oxford told her not to that she would and then she didnt, FSS watched me fail out of SEVEN housing placements in SIX months due to untreated mental illness, pre-frontal cortex and executive function deficiencies (losing a meeting logs, baker acts, couldn’t keep my room cleaned, refusing to hygiene, drug and alcohol use ) yet never once did FSS take me to voc rehab to be evaluated . When my foster mom took me my FSS caseworker told me I didn’t need voc rehab and I wasn’t disabled. Wouldn’t that be the point to rule it out?In February I was placed in the best foster home I had ever experienced with a licensed foster mother receiving supervision ideal for my early recovery .I had all my needs met (food, clothes, income, medical, therapy). I could walk to my AA meetings and court ordered therapy. But the foster mother’s assertiveness and requesting needs and disability supports resulted in FSS . Retaliating against my foster mom by removing me out of her home and relocating me to an unsupervised independent living apartment with no basic needs and no adult supervision or supports . despite me insisting I could not live alone ms. Oxford insisted I should relocate (I was 3 months clean and sober, I had never lived alone , I had no income, no food stamps, no Medicaid, nobody to managed my medicine). Ms Oxford had met me twice in person before she told me over the phone I didn’t need trauma therapy and I needed to move. During my removal which was abrupt and unlawful and grossly violated my rights as an extended foster youth, my foster mother contested and asked to speak to a supervisor. ms tiyana cohen lied to my foster mother and I and said I had to leave or I would lose my foster care benefits. The entire experience was horrible and taught me that the foster system will retaliate and punish youth if they self-advocate. Their teaching is to self care and self advocate is gaslighting.I went to their independent living apartment and I relapsed. They watched me for months through cctv cameras. I had none of the disability supports that my previous foster mother provided me. My foster mother emailed me fss anywho insisted that I was fine but I wasn’t fine I was doing horrible . Now my public defender S Durham is telling me I should plea to my probation hearing and go to prison because she cares just about as much as the foster system . The most ironic and worst part of all of this is …..I am going to prison for the exact same reason I got this charge in the first place—— when I was a 17 year old the foster system put me in a level ii foster home when I should have been laced in a medical foster home. The second day of my arrival I was left home alone with NO adult supervision. I guess they thought I survived the first time so they were coming back for round two.
