1230 on a Monday, the store is not open and I have seen a dozen people walk away. Not a great way to start a summer day with the kids.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at a local comic book store that left me deeply disappointed. The management, regrettably, fails to uphold the values of respect and integrity that should be inherent in any business.
Firstly, it's disheartening to witness the mistreatment of employees who are overworked and underpaid compared to their counterparts at other businesses in similar roles. Despite their dedication, lower-level staff members are unfairly scapegoated for the company's financial struggles, while upper management refuses to take responsibility.
Store Management is burdened with unrealistic expectations, expected to perform duties beyond industry standards for below-industry-level compensation. This exploitative practice not only compromises employee morale but also affects the quality of service provided to customers.
The store's focus has shifted from genuine customer satisfaction to aggressive profit-seeking tactics. Prices are hiked, and product quality has noticeably declined, demonstrating a blatant disregard for customer loyalty.
Moreover, the discontinuation of the military discount is a clear indication of the company's lack of appreciation for those who have served our country. It's a shameful oversight that reflects poorly on the company's values.
Employee welfare is further neglected, with minimal payroll allocation making it nearly impossible for them to take a vacation without six months' notice. This disregard for work-life balance is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company's priorities.
The encouragement of unethical behavior, such as selling low-grade comics as high-grade and taking advantage of vulnerable individuals who are looking to get a fair price for their books or collectables, is deeply troubling. This undermines the trust between the store and its customers and tarnishes the reputation of the industry as a whole.
Additionally, the store's inability to foster successful trading card communities due to aggressive pricing and inadequate stock levels is concerning. Furthermore, their failure to tailor their offerings to the individual markets of their Jacksonville stores and lack of marketing efforts in the area are contributing factors to their lack of success.
While I would genuinely like to see improvements in these areas, it's evident that significant changes are needed to rectify the current situation. Coliseum of Comics, in its current state, falls far short of being a reputable comic book store. I would strongly advise potential customers to seek alternative options for their comic book and gaming needs.
In addition to the numerous concerns already highlighted, I must address the appalling treatment of the staff at the Oakleaf store. It is deeply troubling to learn that the entire tenured and well-loved team was abruptly fired, leaving many individuals in a precarious financial situation. For some, this job was their sole means of income, relied upon to pay rent, feed their families, and simply survive.
The callous manner in which these terminations were executed, with zero-days notice, is utterly reprehensible. To add insult to injury, upper management had the audacity to shift blame onto the employees for the store's lack of profitability, citing high rent and poor management from the top as the rationale for their dismissals. Such actions demonstrate a complete lack of empathy and accountability.
The excuse of needing a "fresh start with fresh new faces" is not only insensitive but also grossly unjust. These dedicated employees, who had poured their time and effort into serving the community, deserved far better treatment than to be summarily dismissed without warning or recourse.
It is evident that the company prioritizes profit over the well-being of its employees, a stance that is morally bankrupt.
Any establishment that treats its employees with such disregard does not deserve the su

My heart is completely broken. I used to shop in there frequently but seeing that they fired the whole staff so there’s new faces and may being in new clients is very disheartening. Your “regulars “ and your frequent buyers came in because of how friendly , how much knowledge they knew , how much they can recommend items and etc. I’ll miss Serina, Aly, and Jay. They were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. They had the best customer service and were very friendly always. They’ve lost the best staff and will be loosing a lot of valuable customers.

This place has taken a turn for the worse. I would stop buying comics from them and find a mom and pop shop to support. It has become to corporate and they do not treat their customers well.

Pricing of books are just way to high, they put cgc graded prices on Raw books and the new people don’t even know what they’re selling smh. The new management seems like they hate their job even talking bad about the higher ups for letting the old employees go, The company its self is asking us to email them for feedback. Why? So you can guys can keep firing whole teams and have our bad reviews hidden in your spam folder?
An ungrateful company I pray Karma will do its job, but looks like I gotta find a new lcs!
Update: the company is removing bad reviews, just do better, don’t sweep things under a rug lol

PLEASE READ!My kids and I really enjoyed the conversations and hospitality the previous staff gave us, it’s disappointing how the new staff however, are the complete opposite. To make things worse, the new people don't know a KNICK about the products they're selling. I asked an employee with colored hair a simple question about a comic and she looked at me like a lost puppy, the other worker could've care less with her mean demeanor. It’s just not the same energy in there anymore, it’s sad to see.I won't be coming back here anymore though, trust me when I say I'll make sure friends and relatives do the same. Shame on you Coliseum of Comics. I wish the previous staff the best future and huge thanks for their respect and effort on making every costumer happy. Workers like you guys are rare and the Oakleaf community valued you guys at heart! Also, I remember the old mangers here, Kody and Daniel. They were awesome! Wise even. The new lady though, Brigitte or Britni (can't remember) literally reeks the store of cigarettes and told us the reason for the change is "a new fresh set of faces", not a great reason but okay. Shame shame shame on you CoC.
