My experience with South State Bank has been a harrowing journey through incompetence and disregard for basic banking principles. Here's a breakdown of the nightmare I endured:False Promises and Contradictory Policies: Initially, I was told by South State Bank that I could remove my former business partner from the account due to embezzlement. However, when I attempted to do so, the Bank Manager, Barbara Savage, claimed she wouldn't have allowed it. This blatant contradiction left me feeling deceived and powerless.Disregard for Legal Documents: Despite providing documentation from the Florida Division of Corporations proving my ownership of the business, South State Bank refused to acknowledge it as a valid legal document of business ownership. This refusal to recognize legitimate paperwork further exacerbated the situation and hindered any chance of resolution.Allowing Disputes from Removed Parties: To add insult to injury, South State Bank shockingly allowed my former business partner, Tim, to dispute transactions on the account even after his name had been legally removed. This blatant disregard for protocol not only jeopardized the integrity of the account but also demonstrated a profound lack of understanding of basic banking procedures. When I asked for proof that my former business partner filed a dispute prior to being removed I was ignored all three times I asked.Inconsistent Policies Regarding Civil Disputes: Throughout this ordeal, South State Bank consistently contradicted their own policies regarding involvement in civil disputes. Their lack of clarity and consistency only served to exacerbate the already tumultuous situation, leaving me with more questions than answers.In conclusion, my experience with South State Bank has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their incompetence, disregard for legal documentation, and inconsistent policies have left me with a sense of frustration and disillusionment. I would strongly advise anyone considering banking with South State Bank to proceed with extreme caution.

I have had nothing but excellent service with South State; and at all the branches I have been to. Things happen, and if you are unsure about your banking, transactions, or anything ; call or go in and ask questions. The people at this bank are always happy to assist.

Hands down the best Southstate branch I've been to. I have been with Southstate for over 15 years for business & personal accounts. I was traveling to Jacksonville from Georgia to close on a deal and needed to be sure a transaction was done before closing. I called and spoke to Barb Savage. She provided better service than I could have imagined. Top Notch! She went out of her way to help and even provided me her cell phone # in case of problems! I have never had bad service at a Southstate Bank, but this experience topped it! Thank you Barb!

I have used this branch a number of times during the pandemic, when I was working remotely and could not go to my normal branch. The team here could not have been more thoughtful and kind. I know banking has gone to online transactions and e checks, but the staff here still believe in customer service.

Really amazing friendly and helpful staff, nice to see that type of banking in the day and age. I have been going to this location during the pandemic, first thru the drive thru then later in the lobby when they were allowed to open. It is a super clean location and service is Uber friendly. Not accessible by Hodges, but easy to find from the Target parking lot.

Horrible bank.! They charge an automatic $35 check cancellation fee even though the cancelled check still goes through with a hold. They have no real customer service call center that has the power to resolve any issues. I have had an outage in my debt card multiple times leaving me with no access to funds for days and they use envelope at their ATM which results in either your bank card being taken by the machine or you not having immediate access to your deposited funds.

After buying out CharterBank and being told they have sold again-3 changes in a year? I'm done. I opened this account in Alabama so that my daughter in college and I can get her money in an emergency. We had zero problems with CharterBank. But nothing except issues since. I will close my account today and she and I will stick to the larger, well known banks from now on. Don't recommend this bank. Run away....
