My dog was in heart failure and I was advised to let her go. It was the hardest thing I had to do. They were very compassionate and helpful through the process.

I’m extremely disappointed with this shelter. They killed a dog that was taken to this shelter alleging that the dog was not cooperative with their staff. When the poor dog was just being sad and miserable for losing his home after her owner was taken to the hospital due to a fall in her home. The dog was just scared of the new environment! Not aggressive at all. Shame on them!!! No compassion at all for the poor animals… They just couldn’t understand the poor dog was just scared of the new environment of the shelter! ??

Was able to get a stray all checked out after i found him in a machine at my job. we ended up adopting him! This place cares for the animals and I would rather rescue than buy from a shop

Staff was very nice and very efficient. I found a kitten under a car in a parking lot. I got a carrier and called Animal Control. They told me what their procedure was and I drove there. The kitten was old enough to be spayed and she was not feral, so they took her in. A wonderful ending for her. Thank you.

We adopted Ari on May 10th. She has been a wonderful addition to my family. Ari is 72% German Shepherd, 23% Dalmatian and 5% White Swiss Shepherd. She is a blessing.

Had to pick up a lost dog that my neighbor was dog sitting. It got out through the cat door. I don't have all details but she ended up at County Animal Shelter. I went to Inverness and there she was, went up front office for paperwork and pay.
I would like to thank BECKY for plowing through stuff and reuniting Chloe with her owner instead of keeping her in kennel.

It is a well kept facility, it is sad to see so many animals. I did adopt a dog, and the volunteers that give there time are very special people.

This place is honestly a joke, the staff isn’t super friendly, the dog I adopted was sick from the get go. I fostered to begin with and he was sick the second day I had him, I called almost every day for a week and a half and walked in 3 times with my concerns, they told me his symptoms were normal every time. I adopted the dog for $60 yesterday only to find out today it was FREE and they would not reimburse which is ROBBERY and CRUEL. My dog also got worse last night and I brought him in this morning yet again and it took me to adopt the dog for them to actually do their job and check him out. They say he has a respiratory infection but clearly they sold me a dog with kennel cough and I have contaminated all of my other animals. Proceed with caution adopting sick animals from these crooks. Also, talking to many other people who have recently adopted from them it seems as if they pick and choose the adoption prices based off the customer or person working, 6 different people have paid 6 different prices for dogs, and 3 of those dogs ended up being sick right after adoption. The dogs are kept outside all day and night with no fans or air, getting rained on, and the staff all tell you different information as if no one is on the same page ever. The vet doesn’t do call backs they just forget about you until you bug them enough, and there’s snakes roaming around the dog kennels too. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been to another vet since my doggy came home and have confirmed he does in fact have kennel cough and they should never have adopted a dog out in this condition. Shame on these people for stealing money and fostering out sick animals.

Shelter staff are always friendly and helpful, but most importantly, the animals are loved on regularly by staff and volunteers, and they have clean kennels every time we stop by. Citrus animal shelter is also the only shelter we've found that allows you to do "sleepovers" for up to two weeks to ensure that your chosen pet is a good fit for your family. They regularly update their website and have a great Facebook page that posts available animals. I highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking about adding a new pet to the family!
