Amazing shop and great customer service! So glad I ran into this shop during my vacation!I did witness the Ukulele "incident". (The review posted as a complaint). In no way did I feel the owner handled that incident inappropriately. The child wasn't being supervised and slammed that instrument down on the floor. When confronted, I'm sure the reviewer was embarrassed... But in no way did the owner of this shop handle this situation as hard as this child handled that ukulele. If you're bringing small children into this shop and you're ok with permitting them to slam items into the floor as you shop, maybe not go in. Period.

Unpleasant Experience at Island Surf Shop During VacationDuring my recent vacation, I had a regrettable experience at Island Surf Shop, which left me quite disappointed. The incident occurred when my 4-year-old son accidentally dropped a small pink guitar in the store. Instead of handling the situation with understanding and grace, the store owner reacted rudely, admonishing me to "watch my son" despite my close proximity to him and my immediate efforts to address the situation. When the incident happened I had been actively telling him to put the guitar down and he was listening to my instructions when he accidentally dropped it.Feeling taken aback by her approach, I expressed my displeasure with her rudeness and decided to leave the store. To my surprise, the store owner followed us out and insisted that we pay for the small pink guitar due to a minor paint chip caused by the drop. This demand not only upset me but also deeply affected my son, who was left in tears and fear by the unexpected confrontation.In an effort to demonstrate good manners and responsibility to my child, I offered to pay for the damaged item, despite my belief that the reaction was exaggerated and unwarranted. To my astonishment, I discovered that the small pink guitar was priced at $68, resulting in a total of $73 after tax. After negotiating, I settled on a payment of $48.15, feeling shocked and disheartened by the entire ordeal.It was evident to me that the store owner's behavior was fueled by past experiences, leading her to unjustly take out her frustrations on me and my son. I found the encounter to be distressing and unnecessary, especially considering the circumstances that led me to visit the store in the first place. I had chosen to spend time there with my son, who was unwell with an ear infection and needed a day away from the beach during our vacation. It was also disappointing because the store itself is cute and had a lot of nice items that I probably would have purchased. We come to Indian Rocks on vacation once a year and I’ve shopped there a few times before.The lingering unease caused by the encounter made our walk back to our rented condo an uncomfortable one, with my son feeling scared and anxious that the store owner may still be following us. Overall, my experience at Island Surf Shop was far from pleasant, marred by unwarranted aggression and a lack of empathy from the store owner. I hope that this review serves as a reminder for businesses to handle such situations with compassion and understanding, especially when young children are involved.

These moments don’t come nearly as often as they should. I was headed to a birthday get together at the beach… my family and I are local residents. I was informed that we were missing our cornhole bags and I knew the birthday girl would be disappointed. I called many places to see if they sold any. The Island Surf Shop saved the day!!! I was greeted with kindness and they let me borrow the bags! They will forever have a loyal customer! Thank you!

Such a unique shop to visit with a wonderful variety of beachwear to paddle-board and bike rentals. The owners and staff are wonderful people. I would definitely recommend visiting The Island Surf Shop on your next visit to IRB.

I heard about this place through the Grapevine. I was looking for specific items for a themed party that I am planning. They have a great selection and I found everything that I was looking for. The customer service was great, and I'll definitely be going back

We love coming to visit and see everything new at the surf shop as they are constantly adding new things! The owner is very welcoming and always happy to visit and chat with whoever is around! We make a stop every time we are in Indian Rocks!

Openly homophobic owners. Female owner said disgusting, hateful things to my quiet, respectful relative based on their entirely appropriate clothing. Shameful behavior from any human, let alone a business owner 50+ years their senior.
