“Love the Bandshell best of all.
Since I do my best to attend every too few jam band performances that make it to South Florida, especially when they appear at the Shell, I was not going to miss Soulpax and St. Paul and the Broken Bones, come hell or high water.
On Friday September 13th I had the privilege of watching one of the greatest performances of all time at the Shell. Miami’s own mighty Soulpax kicked things off following a torrential thunderstorm that stopped right when the band took the stage.
Rain or shine the show must go on and go on it did. Hundreds were already in attendance when nextgen lead guitarist Julian Harris and his wing girl, vocalist extraordinaire Julia Camayd, took center stage and led their seven piece band to heights theretofore unknown by this dazzling indie funk band vibing to their original songs like, Tired of Your Shit, Look Down the Barrel, Magic 8, Postcard Daze, Made to Stay, and Medicate.
After Soulpax rocked the house for an hour the 1000 strong audience who came to party and rock their asses off got what they paid for when St. Paul and the Broken Bones took the stage.
The Birmingham, AL bad boys who are big on horns raised the dead with a wall of sound rarely heard on stages in Miami. Deep R&B with a Muscle Sholes vibe, the Bones took the audience through the sonic stratosphere before returning them to earth transfixed and transformed in ways that only live music can accomplish.
Although their sound was fresh to my ears, I met people from as far away as Paris, France and St. Croix who came to see the Bones rattle and hum.
The hot humid night melted the audience into one organic vibing fam of sights, sound, and spirit, making the entire musical experience the best I’ve encountered in a long time. I hope the Shell brings back the Pax and the Bones again. Together or apart, the sooner the better.”

“Met a few friends at the Lauderdale yacht club for lunch, service with excellent was amazing considering I haven't been there since the remodel. Something to be desired, I had a French dip, the Au jus was thick like gravy, and the sub roll that the sandwich was on did not taste fresh”

“I usually go to Westlake Park to go kayaking, but it was closed this Sunday due to internet issues. Up tried Whisky Creek for the first time. It was a nice change, but double the price to get into the park and to rent kayaks. It was also good to have a concession stand as an option for food, but also very expensive for what you get.”
“There are no words to describe how amazing this venue is!! We took our campers to Dance Pluss on a No School Day and they are already asking when they can go back!! The parents are so happy that the children had a fun and fabulous time!! The dancing from the Choreographer was easy for them to learn the moves; even I could get up and dance with the kids!! Then they went on stage to show off what they learned! It was a very clean venue!! It was big and spacious and we were treated like royalty!! It was a great educational experience for my campers!! “The museum staff were very helpful, the self guided tour starts with an interesting 8 minute video that briefs you on the history of the city.
You then walk through 2 floors of exhibits, some more interesting then others.
They have guided tours but I came 10 minutes late for that, I would recommend trying to time your visit for those, as it felt a little lonely exploring on my own.
The highlight for me was the 3rd floor where local artists display and sell their creations, I met one artist who gave me a impromptu guided tour of the different art rooms and I left feeling inspired.”
