The hospital is staffed with skilled professionals who are dedicated to saving lives, such as the case of a guinea pig named Mr. Pig who received urgent help for overgrown teeth, and a dachshund who was brought in unconscious after being poisoned. The hospital's quick response and expertise saved both animals, with the dachshund making a full recovery in less than 24 hours. The hospital's communication with pet owners is also commendable, keeping them informed and answering any questions they may have. It is worth noting that there is an additional $1000 deposit for pets brought to the emergency room after 5 PM. Despite the cost, many pet owners find the care and attention their pets receive at UF Small Animal Hospital to be priceless. Many pet owners have expressed deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided. They praised the staff’s kindness, honesty, and professionalism, especially during difficult times. One owner shared how Dr. O’Neil was very caring and helped make the hard decision to let a beloved pet go, while Chloe at the front desk handled paperwork with love and compassion. Others described how the staff were incredibly gentle and sympathetic, even sending a card and beautiful paw prints in clay after a pet's passing. This is my go-to emergency vet. Excellent follow-up care and instructions. The staff is nice and knowledgeable. They've been very up front about costs and set expectations quickly after getting checked in.
