I'm a new ukulele player, and wanted to see/feel a variety of instruments. They had a nice selection of reasonably priced ukes. Friendly helpful staff.

I dropped my guitar off to have new pickups and Grover tuners installed, as well as the action adjusted. While all modifications were completed in a fast and timely manner, when I pulled the guitar out to play at home later that day (as I did play it in store before leaving and didn't notice the following) I noticed the tuners had not been tighten all the way and I could audibly hear rattling in the machine heads. When I called, there seemed to be some resistance/indifference about the matter. I was told "it shouldn't be heard through the amplifier." I thought to myself, as if that makes it okay...? If you take your car to the mechanic, and it starts making a rattling sound after they have worked on it, is that insignificant as long as the car still drives??? Additionally, one of the pickups that was installed now sits at a slight angle. When I asked about it, I was told "It doesn't effect the sound, it's more of an aesthetic preference. If you want to correct it, you can pull the pickup out and put some kind of felt or material to adjust/correct the pickup angle to level." Once again, I thought to myself, isn't that what I brought my guitar to the guitar tech for...?! The staff was willing to correct the machine head issue. And I was going to accept it for what it was. However, after returning home and playing, I noticed there is a nick in the neck of the guitar and a decent surface scratch on the body that was not there prior to me dropping it off at the shop; the guitar was in near mint condition prior. This leads me to believe that they handle the instruments in a cavalier manner, and that sometime during the modifications a tech bumped the neck against a counter top or something hard enough to create a significant blemish. I'm disappointed by this, as this is my favorite guitar. Lastly, I was charged more than what was quoted on the written receipt. I was told that if the repair price was going to increase I would receive a call informing me of the price adjustment; I was never contacted. Hoggtowne dropped the ball on customer service this time.I can't wait to see the rebuttal about this. It's always "well, you didn't mention it while you were here." Or, We can't seem to find you in our computer system."To which I reply, people have other obligations during the day and can't take thirty minutes in your store to inspect every centimeter of their instrument for every little mistake. I didn't notice it until later in the day. And, surly people would rather do anything else than take the time to write one of these google reviews, like play their instrument. I'm only writing this one now because I'm beyond disappointed.

I loved my kids piano teacher she was amazing with them. Unfortunately they have a ridiculous attendance. The teacher could miss how ever many days they want, but you could only miss 3. Before the started charging you. And it is not like I did a no call no show. I let them know I wouldn't be there weeks beforehand. I could understand if I just didn't show up. They really need to rethink the attendance thing and learn to appreciate the students and understand that they are just kids and things happen and people do plan things.

I need to get some work done on my guitar, and looking around the area there are only a couple of places that will do this kind of work. I even looked at places out in Jacksonville, but that kind of distance for getting work done is a bit much.Hoggtowne Music is a locally owned and operated music store here in Gainesville where they not only provide repair services but also carry instruments, rent equipment, and have music lessons in multiple rooms in the building. While their selection of instruments is not huge like you can find in bigger stores, the staff are knowledgeable and they were able to perform the repairs on my guitar without any issues and at a reasonable cost.Definitely recommended!

My "go to" instrumental music store. Friendly staff. Excellent and fairly priced repair work. They've moved since my last visit, so check your GPS, or you'll be going around in circles,

I rented a trumpet for my fifth grader in a rush to get the task done. If you're taking the time to read reviews, take the time to buy somewhere else. I wish I would have. They are overpriced. She is in 8th grade now and I am still paying on it. For my second child, I bought used outright and wish I had done so with the first child.
